  1. When did we last have such a busy conclusion to a transfer window in Scotland? Good to see some cash flow through the league.
  2. Yeah Thistle for Taylor apparently. Am I right in seeing we're allowed 4 loan players max? So room for 1 more.
  3. Lyle Taylor returning to Scotland; not us though.
  4. Accies coining in another £1mil tonight.
  5. That ethos will end in disaster. You need quality if you want the club to grow.
  6. The club have been peddling the exciting new era line for a while. No way we're chucking fresh loans at Plymouth rejects, surely. I'd rather go with what we have.
  7. We're turning into Hibs with all these short term deals.
  8. Was it not £500k for Davies brother in law plus £7k a week? Would be interested to know what the average attendances were pre Boyle until now. Obviously there are a host of society wide issues contributing but I do feel like we lost a chunk of our support during his reign.
  9. Fair bit of experience behind him for a young keeper. Imagine he'll have featured in some of Sheffield United's big cup games prior to this season.
  10. Brilliant stuff from Aberdeen. In recent seasons, if I could have hand-picked 2 young spl players for Motherwell it would have been McLean and Shinnie. The New Firm really are building for a sustained challenge.
  11. Glad to have him away from the club to be honest. I was a bit taken aback by the enforced show of appreciation yesterday.
  12. Noticed that too. Looks like we have a couple of new recruits to the football staff. Announcements pending I guess. As for McManus, he's been out a couple of times due to 'personal reasons' but I thought the official line for yesterday was that he picked up an injury at Tannadice.
  13. Think Paul Heffernan was mentioned earlier in this thread. Following his release from Hibs, I wouldn't be surprised if he is one of the forwards we are considering. If he's fit, his link up play would bring on the young ones.
  14. Clumsy foul from the last man. Red card all day long,
  15. It didn't even cross my mind that anyone other than Moore would come on. I suspect Ainsworth is finished at Motherwell, particularly when we're looking to bring in forward(s).
  16. One of the things you don't need to worry about with Erwin is his technical ability. Just hope we are getting him on a contract.
  17. We were absolutely nothing until Thomas came on. Not everything came off for him and Moore but their desire to fight and get on the ball dragged us into the game.
  18. Fans seem to be obsessed with this guy. I might be wrong but it looked like a relatively clearcut red card to me.
  19. On paper, probably one of the worst starting XIs I've ever seen for Motherwell so I went into the game with low expectations. Whatever is going on, it's almost impossible to compete when you have the experience of Hammell, Lasley, McManus and Pearson all missing. And true to form, we looked like we were in for a hiding as we didn't resemble a professional team whatsoever in the 1st half and the new signings left a lot to be desired. Strangely though, St Johnstone took pity on us when we went down to 10 and left scope for Thomas, Erwin and Moore to take the game by the scruff of the neck later on. Which they duly did. All in all, pleased with a point and encouraged by the potential of the 3 young ones that have a bit of quality, heart and bravery on the ball. Another positive was the energy levels towards the end, a marked improvement on McCalls time. Couple of signings required by Monday but they have to be of a higher standard than the debutants on show today.
  20. Further verification today that a competent midfielder is an absolute must by Monday.
  21. That sounds very feasible to me. Who knows if the back injury is 100% genuine but Vigurs reputed attitude is never going to sit well with Baraclough.
  22. Loss of Pearson would be massive. Somehow need to try and pinch a 1-0.
  23. So a new chief scout has been appointed.
  24. That's one of the few areas where I disagree with Baraclough's impressive rhetoric. While we have came unstuck this season due to injuries, years of moderate success has been based on quality over quantity. I'm all for competition but hopefully it's predominately from the youth setup.
  25. The lack of media interest in Motherwell these days is highlighted by the fact nobody knows the length of his contract. I very much doubt he'd be expensive to get rid of but even if we don't start getting results, I think he'll get full support of the club for the foreseeable given the role of the new regime in his appointment. Back to transfers, central midfielder and a striker a must.
