  1. Pleased to see Clarkson score, regardless of the circumstances. Other than that, Dundee were relatively average but were granted acres of space. Onto Motherwell, the midfield is non-existent and the defence is a shambles. This seems to be case whatever combination we play. There was no evidence today that we have been working on a game plan or shape for the past fortnight. Equally concerning, there was no evidence that the players were out to prove a point. Not sure what is going on with McManus, fair play to him if he is attempting to play through injuries, but there was no chance of him emerging for the 2nd half after that wheeiebinesque performance. The one player who escapes the bulk of the criticism is Ojamaa, head and shoulders above the rest. In the last 20/25 minutes today you can see that there is potential for Ojamaa, Ainsworth and Vigurs to combine well but they need a solid base to work from. Growing consensus seems to be that 'something's no right in the background' however the club continues to duck the fans. I think change is almost inevitable but I fear what that change could be.
  2. I know we are in desperate need of points but I'd be content to come away having seen a performance today and signs of progression. So far this season, there has been very little football on show. Virus is a bit of a worry. If we are missing genuine key players, for example Lasley and Ojamaa, then you fear the worst. Lawson is definitely injured.
  3. Hopefully we've been working on our shape and fitness. The 4231 deployed by Scotland could work for us with Vigurs playing behind Sutton and 2 from Ojamaa/Ainsworth/Erwin doing a shift out wide. If the injuries have cleared up I fancy us to put a string of performances together, starting with a 2-2 draw on Saturday.
  4. Despite a nervy ending, some really good passages of play from Scotland tonight. Can only be a good thing having our manager involved in such an organised setup.
  5. Yeah he arrived with a fair bit of promise given his performances for Dumbarton and was previously captain of Scotland u18s. Within a few months of arriving though, he done his cruciate in training aged 17 and was out for the season. Never went on to make a 1st team appearance for us. He's played regularly since leaving so may well climb back up the leagues.
  6. Slane and Devlin are 2 of 12 players that have went full time with Ayr.
  7. Excellent offer and an incentive that keeps the ST preferable to flexi package for regulars.
  8. Looks like Paul Quinn is signing for Hibs.
  9. I'm comfortable with it; Motherwell signed up to the arrangement and will likely receive a few quid. Would be unfair on Scotland to take away a contracted member of their staff. Noticed Gordon Marshall was working with the Scotland keepers.
  10. Watching the highlights and reading the twitter feed, some really encouraging football played tonight on what appears to have been a cracker of a contest. Young ones look more comfortable with passing and movement that the first team. Fair play to JJ for getting this team going.
  11. Update appreciated. What guarantees would be in place for a private investor that provides the society with a soft loan?
  12. I've no insight on how a weekly training schedule should shapeup but I was also surprised by McCalls assertions, particularly on the back of such a poor run. Amazed that the squad didn't review the Accies performance until Thursday.
  13. On the whole, I like Manus but he's not quite the leader I envisaged. Pure speculation on my part but I don't think McManus would have been so quick to sign a new contract if he thought there would have been a lack of quality signed during the summer. The departure of Faddy may have caught him by surprise too, like Hammell.
  14. Agree entirely. I gather November will be the pivotal month in determining whether or not the club has a mid-long term vision. In the short term, I do hope the wheels are in notion to address the much needed summer clearance in line with the new vision.
  15. Just watching the highlights, that was a helluva strike by Ainsworth surpassing his debut goal at Tannadice. Going by McCalls post match comments some of our most talented players aren't pulling their weight and will be sacrificed for less talented grafters. Good to see flashes of Ojamaa returning to form. On paper Ojamaa, Ainsworth and Erwin should be able to rip teams apart in this league.
  16. Lawson broke down yet again after chasing shadows for 45 mins last week. It's just not happening for him. We've lacked a playmaker and ball winner since Law and Jennings respectively. They'll not be replaced until contracts are up in the summer.
  17. I think if McCall doesn't get a result out if Dundee, Aberdeen and St Johnstone then his position would be virtually untenable. However, I worry about McCall going just now. Unless there is something going on in the background regarding fresh investment and/or takeover I think we'll be struggling for candidates.
  18. Think the failing of the last 2 summers has been signing key players that don't peak in the same system. Vigurs is more of a 451 or 433 (with mobile fullbacks) man while Sutton is 442 all day long.
  19. Vigurs was brought in to play on the left after Higginbotham was ditched. Fed up with the argument over Vigurs having excellent technical ability. In his 15 months at the club he has demonstrated that for all the ability he has, he can't produce on a regular basis. In his defence McCall has failed to build a team around the strengths of our playmaker but he hasn't done enough to prove himself and there have been some effortless performances along the way.
  20. Time for Derek Weir to step up to the plate and tells us was what is going on at present and detailing the Boards' vision for the club. I was never fond of Dempster but in her favour she engaged with the fans and she kicked balls that needed kicking. From the outside there seems to be a distinct lack of responsibility and accountability throughout the club. Friendly farce and Season Ticket malaise being two examples of this.
  21. Writing his been on the wall for a while but time and time again, we're failing to react to big disappointments now. Knowing the inconsistency and weaknesses of Ainsworth, I really don't know why we kept him if we weren't planning to play him regularly. The signing of Josh Law is one of the most blinded we've made since John Davies.
  22. This would be close to my selection, possibly switching Leitch with Carswell.
