  1. Much needed 3 points. We pretty much strolled through that game with Vigurs and McFadden pulling the strings. Good to see Leitch make his full debut and Murray/Cadden come off the bench. Hollis had a couple of wobbles but by and large the defence were more at ease with his presence. Hearts were absolutely brutal. Locke is a terrible manager.
  2. Lasley is out of contract, must keep for obvious reasons. Hammell will stay for same reasons although his legs aren't lasting as well as Keith's. Resigned to losing Hutch on a free. I'll be pleased if McManus and McFadden stay but wouldn't push the boat out. We need to have scope for bringing in young hungry players that have have sell-on potential. I'd be looking to offload Neilson, Lawson and McHugh if at all possible. Are Moore, Erwin and Murray under contract?
  3. Agreed, Lasley is defying his age with the way he gets about the park. He's continuously improved his own game in recent seasons to compensate for the loss of Jennings and then Law. I'd fear going into a game without him. Poty by some distance.
  4. Wasn't sure whether or not Cummins was capable of making the grade but signing McManus has been hugely detrimental to the most important year of development for a youngster that we opted to reward and invest in.
  5. In the past, I have been critical of McCall for not giving Lawless et al a shot off the bench when we have been cruising games. His instinct is to favour senior pros. This season however, given our lack of options, I'd like to think he'd give youngsters a chance if they were good enough. I doubt be want to rely on the likes of ZFA and Vigurs. Moore is by far the most exciting prospect but even he looks out his depth at the moment. It would appear that the quality isn't there and therefore more scrutiny is required of the coaching and scouting framework. For a club that budgets on selling a player and finishing top 6, our precarious financial position will be unhinged by one poor season. Despite the rhetoric from the club, there isn't enough investment in youth to protect the future of our club. By and large, McCall and the Board have steered us to a highly enjoyable few years, treated to some relatively quality on the park. However, when all the proceeds of lofty league positions are shelled out on player bonuses, you have to worry about the sustainability of the club.
  6. We were fortunate to beat then at tynecastle and our form has deteriorated since. Could be in a bit of bother on Saturday. Judging by McCalls comments he'll have to make a few changes. 1-1.
  7. And not the only poor signing. Kerr, Vigurs and Lawson have all failed to do the business for one reason or another. The fact we are where we are is testament to McCalls coaching and motivation.
  8. Bad few days that most of us seen coming. When you have a squad as unbalanced as ours, you're going to come up short when injuries kick in. Slightly concerning but unsurprising that none of the kids have been given a chance and we continue to gamble with Lasley and Carswell. We're always going to concede goals in the absence of a competent keeper so unless Anier and Ainsworth hit a contract spinning purple patch, it's going to be a helluva tough battle for third. Must win on Saturday.
  9. Hopefully a sub or two at the break. Currently don't have the players on the park that are capable of changing a game.
  10. Undoing all the good work from when Twardzik was here.
  11. Ainsworth has been disappointing in recent week butthought he would start tonight given his last performance against St Johnstone. Pleasantly surprised to see Anier start. With McFadden out, Vigurs needs to really step up and be our playmaker.
  12. Full credit to him for playing through injury but he could be doing a couple of weeks off by the looks of it.
  13. Anier was toiling after ten mins at Tamnadice, can't see him being ready to start. Shame Moore is also injured just now. This is a massive game for us at a tough venue. If we can return to a conventional back 4 with a fit Lasley and/or Carswell in front of them, hopefully Ainsworth and Vigurs turn up and create chances. Fancy Hutch to make up for his poor performance on Friday.
  14. Stuart Armstrong, class act.
  15. Few quid going on United at evens given the injury news. Anier seems to have been toiling at various points in the season with injury.
  16. Doncaster has been very quiet this season, very disappointing that we have failed to nail a sponsor. Time Dempster and her counterparts stopped having such faith in Doncaster. Interesting snippet on Dom Thomas fee to Celtic. I assume the fee bot be significant enough to stop is giving him an opportunity between now and the end of the season.
  17. Fear the worst if we are missing Lasley and Ramsdan and Armstrong, Gauld and GMS are running at us. Attack will be the best form of defence. Could do with Ainsworth pinning back Robertson who's had the freedom of the left wing in the last 2 encounters.
  18. Thistle fans must have been spewing when Higginbotham was substituted, we couldn't handle him. McFadden our motm by a distance. Fantastic assist for Ainsworth's goal and dragged us to the win when the going got tough. Good to see him last the 90 mins.
  19. McCall warned us yesterday that today was going to be a struggle today and it proved to be the case. Carswell, McManus and Vigurs doing well to get through the game while not being fully fit. McFadden practically dragged us to the win. Exciting conclusion and a big 3 points but we'll need to step it up a fair bit to get a result at Tannadice.
  20. Assumed this will be off and headed in to work for overtime. Sat 8th March will do nicely.
  21. Carswell done a job at right back at Firhill and I think we can get away with Vigurs playing in the middle against Thistle. Repeat performance from December would go down a treat. With Taylor and Buaben though, they'll have a wee bit more about them.
  22. Biggest downer after a game remains the Corrigan pass back semi.
  23. Tynecastle for the Scottish Cup after O'Donnell died. Probably the biggest travelling support I've been involved in outwith semis/finals. Such an emotionally charged atmosphere that will never be forgotten. We've been blessed with some outstanding performances since 2007 but a league cup trouncing of Hibs at Easter Road under McGhee really broke the mould. We destroyed them that night with a calibre of free flowing football that was new to us and went on to have a cracking few months. Ross McCormack was outstanding in both games.
  24. Midweek League Cup trip to Forfar where we lost on pens is the worst in recent memory. Brutal peformance, cold weather, shite supporters bus and ended up being ill with the flu. Can't believe that was 10 years ago.
