  1. Am I the only one that has doubts over Daley?
  2. I'm pretty sure we will get humped up there. Fear for our defence away from home. Swanson on fire for them just now.

    Aberdeen

Unlike some of his team-mates, Lasley showed no side-effects from running himself into the ground on Tuesday and continued to carry Jennings on his back. I thought Clancy was relatively solid as well. Motm has to go to Bob McHugh though, massive impact during his 15/20 minutes on the pitch.
  4. Instantly forgettable performance but delighted with the 3 points. Couldn't be happier for McHugh. Refreshing to see a boy chase down a lost cause, show some aggression and go on to show composure in front of goal. These are rare commodities in the current Motherwell set-up. There is a wee bit of the Scott McDonald about him. Broon had us well sussed today as you would expect, with them nullifying the usual threat from the flanks, so we done well to grind them down and get a late winner. We could really do with a bit of craft and composure on the ball coming from the middle of the park though.
  5. He was rotten today, looked like 3 games in a week had taken it's toll on him. Far from the only one that was poor today though. For whatever reason, Higdon and Murphy don't really look any closer to striking up an understanding. McCall needs to work out how to get the best out of them.
  6. No doubt the young Falkirk kids will have the belief battered out of them by seasoned professionals in the years to come.
  7. Yip, Forbes in for Daley with Law drifting wide and that would be my ideal line-up at present. Anticipating a decent performance from Aberdeen.
  8. Agreed. Lasley has been struggling in recent weeks but he dragged us through the game last night.
  9. Few special mentions. Lasley dragged us back into the game after the opening 20 minutes and gave it everything.Randolph, kept us in the game on numberous occasions. Humphrey, best game in ages, Hibs always seem to be feart of him. Law drove us forward time after time throughout the 120 minutes, if only he could keep his cool when he gets in the box. My motm goes to Higdon though, provided everything you would want from the focal point of your attack.
  10. Wonder how Forbes felt last night, getting wheeled on for a pen. McCall apparently doesn't trust him to do the business during the game. Imo, we are crying out for him to be given a run in the first team, at the very least he will offer a goal threat and some incisive passing. I like the look of Carswell and McHugh impresses in flashes. Surely worth some game time with Jennings and Murphy struggling badly. As for Page, he's looked steady anytime I've seen him with the exception of playing left back against Celtic. For those of you have seen the kids coming through, do Halsman, Pollock, Smith and Lawless have the potential to making it at SPL level? In recent years, boys of their age at Motherwell tend to be well on the way to making an impression by now.
  11. Following the arrival of Nicky Law, Weir claimed that there was sufficient funds to bring in a player of similar calibre and two loan deals. That hasn't materialised.
  12. Outstanding last night, on top of his game with great link up play and releasing great balls down the flanks. Lovely composed finish for the goal as well. My motm. I think McHugh done enough last night to earn more game time alongside Higdon. Murphy is well and truly out or sorts, shirking challenges, running down dead ends and lacking composure in front of goal. Hopefully he can get some confidence restored soon enough.
  13. We are playing with two diddy centre halves who get very little protection from an under-par midfield and full-backs that are instructed to create. Given that we were up against two quality strikers last night, it is slightly concerning that there was no gameplan to try and nullify their threat, particularly when their is such a gulf in class between O'Connor/Griffiths and the rest of the Hibs team. As much as I enjoy watching our attacking football when it clicks, we are inevitably going to concede far more goals than we score this season. If it was Mccall's plan to provide the defence with little protection this season, he should have ensured that there we had 1 or 2 more players that show composure in front of goal. As well as being tactically naive, his transfer dealings have left us exposed at both ends of the park. Nevertheless, it was an enthralling game last night and the players gave it their all. With a bit of luck we could have been out of sight.
  14. ....................Hollis Hateley Page Craigan Hammell .................Jennings ....Carswell...........Forbes ......................Law .............Higdon Murphy Couple of changes to freshen things up. Hibs are dire in central midfield so we have to take advantage. Jennings could do with dropping but I trust him more than Lasley at the moment. Would like to see Law playing behind 2 strikers with Murphy instructed to run beyond Higdon at every opportunity. Team lacks natural width in the final third but I'd sacrifice that in order for Murphy and Law to play in their most effective positions, thus supporting Higdon.
  15. No point in harking back to McGhee's early days. The difference in quality between that team and current crop is night and day.
  16. I agree, major issue for me. Games like yesterday are somewhat inevitable when others are seemingly written off.
  17. We have rarely offered 'dig' during Craigan's time as captain.
  18. Never been a big fan but Knox and Brown appeared to get the best out of him. While he has looked out of sorts for much of this season in terms of fitness, McCall's tactics do not play to Humphrey's strengths.
  19. Higdon is more than capable of doing a job with the right support. However, if McCall only ever intended on replacing Sutton & Jeffers with one striker, we should have been looking for a striker with better mobility.
  20. As poor as Hibs have been under Calderwood, O'Connor/Griffiths v Craigan/Clancy doesn't fill me with optimism.
  21. No surprise really. With a severe lack of options in defence and upfront, there will be many results like this. Well done to St Johnstone, that will feel good after failing to turn up at Hampden in April.
  22. McCall says we couldn't afford him back as his wages have been taken up by Higdon.
  23. The loss of Hutchinson is going to be a big blow. Given his history with injuries, I never understood why we seemingly gave up in bringing in a left sided defender.
  24. When McCall arrived at Fir Park, I had high hopes that he would prove to be a Tommy McLean type character and inspire us to raise our game against the Old Firm and not be scared to go toe to toe with them. Clearly that hasn't materialised and McCall has went the other way. He is content to go with the stifling Motherwell mindset of measuring success against a Top 6 finish and writing off games against the Old Firm from the outset. In years gone by I could deal with getting pumped 4-0, 5-0 by Laudrup, Larsson, Gascoigne, Moravcik and co but that lack of spirit and belief in recent years against mediocre Old Firm teams has been disgusting. Some blame needs to lie with the players as well. While experienced guys like Craigan, Lasley and Hammell are sound professionals and have been excellent servants to the club they clearly lack the mentality and belief to compete with the Old Firm. So where does the leadership come from?
