  1. Steven Caldwell has been offered a deal in Scotland but there is no chance we will be in for him. I'm surprised that there hasn't been more speculation given that McCall stated that he was looking at players that were keen on a return to Scotland. I've still got my hopes pinned on Kevin MacDonald should Jennings depart. A former target of ours, Craig Forsyth, was about to sign for Watford but I imagine that may fall through now with Malky Mackay landing the Cardiff job.
  2. Weather permitting, I'm liking the look of Tynecastle on Christmas Eve. Hopefully we have our squad in place for the beginning of the season as we have been handed a favourable draw.
  3. Hibs v Sunderland 6th Aug. Not sure if there are any others.
  4. Am I the only one that wouldn't dream about pishing away £300+ on some sort of 'feel good' trip?
  5. I thought Birmingham had the option to extend his contract by two years, thus entitling them to a transfer fee should anyone pursue him. If he ends up at Celtic, I'll spew.
  6. He was supposedly very close to signing for Peterhead. It appears he has had a change of heart about going FT. Doubt he will be on our radar.
  7. Agreed. Given the vacancy was mentioned on here a good few weeks back you would imagine Motherwell would have someone lined up for such a crucial time. Get the Accies fella in.
  8. Regardless of opposition, all friendlies at home are shite. I appreciate there are a few '\Well fans who follow Leeds but the majority of our support won't see any significant appeal of an above average Championship side. I'm sure Leeds will bring a good support which will be a welcome boost to our coffers.
  9. Only caught our game against Sunderland and the standard looking woeful. There was never any doubt Rangers would win it.
  10. Le Fondre has been the subject of Hibs rumours for months but even the majority of their messageboard posters accept that he is outwith their reach. Would be surprised to see Nicky Law stay in League 2. I'm sure I read about Blackpool making a bid for him in January. As for Randolph, I'd happily sell him for a million just now to give us a bit of scope to strengthen the squad.
  11. With small businesses struggling and folk getting made redundant all over the place, I very much doubt it. I imagine that a significant proportion of our support go out on a limb to secure a Season Ticket. I'm in favour of the concept but I don't see it being feasible for a washed out community like North Lanarkshire that will never take a huge interest in Motherwell FC.
  12. I heard we were interested in him a few months back, at the same time the papers were linking us with Forsyth from Dundee. I think Erskine signed a new contract with Partick towards the end of the season.
  13. So under these proposals, the membership would essentially facilitate a 750k interest free overdraft?
  14. HIbs to fork out £450k when he was available for £100k in January. Aye, very good.
  15. Got to agree with that. There is no chance of him heading back north for 2k a week.
  16. Getting linked with this type of player is what I like to see. Hopefully there is some merit to the rumour.
  17. Porter and Hughes permanant. Gunning and Clarky on loan. Jennings stays. We'd win the league!
  18. Famous last words but there is no chance of him heading North. I can see the only competition coming from the Edinburgh clubs, whether either is interested is a different matter.
  19. Eh? Murphy and Humphrey would cause havoc if they had an intelligent player like Hughes threading through balls.
  20. Based on his 1st team appearances, Carswell looks like one to break up the play and keep things simple. I'm not sure if that has been his natural role coming from the ranks but he certainly didn't look out of place in the 1st team. Big season for Page, centre half by trade but I like the look of him in midfield. Given the relative depth in midfield and defence however, I can't see him being any more that a utility player. As for Stephen Hughes, it was an honour to have a player of his ability at Fir Park and as mentioned previously, he was instrumental in the best play we have seen from Motherwell since the early 90s. While I'd be pleased to have Hughes park, I'd prefer to go down the route of bringing in a younger player from the lower leagues in England who is hungry to develop his game and ultimately use Motherwell as a stepping stone.
  21. Accies will be looking for a fee. Wouldn't be overly surprised if he eventually ends up at Fir Park..
  22. Coke was a tremendous talent that we failed to get the best out of. Granted, that seems to be the story of his career so far but how Broon could regularly stick him wide left is beyond me. It's a shame we never got to see a midfield trio of Hateley, Jennings & Coke flourish.
  23. I think Higdon offers much better technique than Sutton and will be superior at holding the ball up. While I've been impressed by Higdon whenever I've seen him against us or on the TV against the OF, I understand that he can look sluggish and off the pace at times. It is important that he has competition to keep him on his toes. If we can get the best out of him, he will prove to be a more than adequate replacement for Sutton.
  24. Also good at not blabbing to the media. Superb work from Stuart McCall.
