  1. Dave Penney was a bombscare at Oldham last season IIRC
  2. I'm not entirely convinced by our criteria which we have made public. While it is great to bring in someone who has contacts down south, the prority should be bringing in someone that is enthusiastic about working with what we have and being fully committed to developing the youngsters we have at our disposal. Digressing slightly but we are doing ourselves no favours by playing Jamie Murphy out of position every week in order to accomodate a player that will be nowhere near Fir Park next season.
  3. Pretty depressing for a Boxing day game.
  4. Think it is clear that many have already taken that option given the amount of empty seats on Sunday.
  5. If Gordon Young is still in charge, a truckload of dough will be going on Celtic. Shame really as Celtic are there for the taking just now.
  6. Arrived in the East Stand at 2.15 yesterday. Within 5 minutes of watching the warm-up, you could see that the players were not in the right frame of mind for such a big game. Absolutely no focus or intensity to the warm-up. With regards the starting line-up, it is clear to see why Young is not cut out to be a manager. No Fitzpatrick or Sutton? FFS, if you are going to compete with Rangers, you need to be prepared for a battle. And from a tactical perspective, if your creative players are stuck out wide, you need players in the middle that are capable of winning the ball back. Ended up leaving after 60 minutes, frustrated with the lack of fight from Motherwell, frozen to the bone and bursting for a pish. We better see a reponse at Parkhead on Wednesday.
  7. Whoever we bring in, I hope they quickly clock on to the fact that Craigan is not captain material. Once again in a time of adversity, he has failed to pull the team together and inspire the kids around him. As much he is a trier and a solid pro, the guy is neither a winner or a leader.
  8. Sbragia is 54 and has never been comfortable with the prospect of being his own man. While he was a relatively big name, I wasn't convinced that he was the right man for the job. Just wish we had considered Derek Adams, really feel we have missed a trick there.
  9. So are Clyde claiming that it will be Sbragia? If we to go down the interim route, which I had heard was Boyle's original idea, then Tommy McLean must be in with a shout. Personally, if the top candidate(s) have knocked it back then I'd be content to go with McCall.
  10. Really sorry to hear that mate, take it easy. Thoughts with you and your family.
  11. Did Sbragia not turn down a coaching job at Birmingham not too long ago? Think sunderland are quite happy for him to speak to other clubs but understandably he is waiting to make the right move.
  12. I wasn't sure that Stubbs had actually been interviewed. Hopefully we can negotiate a deal for Sbragia.
  13. Seems like the club are quite content for the game to be off.
  14. Probably the last time we beat them on Boxing Day...
  15. I find it quite refreshing that the club are keeping their cards close to their chest. Yes they would have liked to have made an appointment by now but if we are going after a decent manager then contract negotiations are unlikely to be straightforward.
  16. Jennings to be suspended by the SFA?
  17. I doubt we will be playing Rangers anytime soon...
  18. If the weather is decent I think the crowd will be pretty good, maybe 11,000. I take it tickets will be available from the office up until kickoff?
  19. As long as it isn't Gary Megson, the English Gus MacPherson.
  20. I reckon it is a straight fight between Stubbs and McCall for the job. Sutton was a bit of a loner off the park, I can't imagine him impressing greatly at an interview. Whoever gets the job, they need to be willing to uproot and bring their family up north with them imo.
  21. If the likes of McPherson, Calderwood, Hughes or McGhee got the job I'd be devastated. While none of us know much about the coaching ability and tactical awareness of Stubbs, I'm far more excited about the prospect of a left-field appointment than the aforementioned names. Obviously Stubbs is a risk but we have scope to take a risk at the moment. From what we have seen of Stubbs as a player and personality over the years, he strikes me as someone who may well have the attributes to make it as a manager. In years gone by, similar threads on here have seen folk rule out the the likes of Lambert and Coyle due to their lack of experience and unknown ability. Look at the pair of them now.
  22. I imagine Jennings will pursue a legal case. Listening to the Blue Square fella on Radio Scotland last night left me in little doubt that this is a complete non-story. Ridculous that this has been leaked to the media.
  23. I wish no harm to Yogi Hughes but he is not the man for the job. Stuart McCall I loved as a player, worth an interview but I don't see it going any further. If Collins was genuinely interested he would be brilliant but as I've said before, he doesn't have the stomach for a gig in the SPL. Derek Adams remains my preference.
  24. Watching the bookie expert on SSN this afternoon, he was talking as if the bets were specific to Jennings getting sent off. I had previously understood it to be a Motherwell player to be sent off? What's the script?
