See if we qualify 4th/5th, are we talking intertoto type dates?
-
Aberdeen and United at FP will be tense affairs. Take 4 points from 6 out of they two games and we hopefully won't be too far away. We could do with getting over our Setanta hoodoo at Killie as well. Interesting times beckon.

Such a depressing thread.

Spl In Talks Over Plans To Send Celtic To Fir Park For Third Time
Lobey_Dosser replied to TvTotherwell's topic in Club Chat
10 team SPL, 2 up, 2 down. That would give us two decent leagues. We would obviously have the problem of clubs playing each other 4 times but there is not enough quality for a 16 team league. 10 team league would offer the most excitement. Given the nature of how the SPL is governed however, no club is going to shoot itself on the foot by reducing the size of the league. -
Foran must be a cert to score. May have a few quid on that!

Superb Mark McGhee. I sense an 'us against them' mentality emerging. Love it!

Spl In Talks Over Plans To Send Celtic To Fir Park For Third Time

While I have no time for Rangers I'd love to see Celtic lose the league at FP. -
Absolutely delighted that the big man is on his way back, fingers crossed he can get an injury free run and fulfil his potential. Really good centre-half on his day. Bringing him back tomorrow though? Can't help but fear thats a bit of a gamble. Hopefully it pays off as I see tomorrow as a pivotal moment in our season.

Very good shout. Too much like common sense I suppose.

I remember getting told to sit down once when we had a penalty against Rangers. Fcuk knows why anyone would want to be a Steward.

To be fair, I look forward to listening to the phone-in on the way home from work. Its a good laugh when Roughie is on form and they stir the emotions when a Scotland game beckons. Without doubt he is a windup merchant but he'll get his comeuppance on the 4th of March. Regarding the pitch, aye its a joke and Boyle deserves to be slaughtered for it. But I'd far rather be in our predicament than the debt-ridden jambo's.

Bring back the team that horsed Hibs in the League Cup at Easter Road and I'd fancy us against anyone. Sadly, Nancy are miles ahead of our current crop.

Am I missing something with Clarky Gaag? Massive game for us on Saturday! If we have any hope of chasing Europe we need 3 points on Saturday prior to our games with Hearts and Dundee United. Inevitably Butcher, Malpas, Kerr and Foran will be right up for this one. For that reason alone, I'd like to see Lasley reinstated in the midfield. He never fully convinced Butcher and I'm sure he'll play out his skin. Furthermore, it was mentioned in another thread that we have been playing deeper with Klimpl guarding the defence. The mobility of Keith Lasley should hopefully get us further up the park. Dilema for me is who partners Clarky up front. I'll leave that one to McGhee. 'Mon the 'Well.

Would agree with you mate. As much as Brown can get under your skin he is a terriffic footballer. Celtic would be in a right mess without him. From a Scotland perspective, it's great to see him back on form this season.

Thinking back he probably deserves a bit of credit for keeping the game flowing. He did give a fair few decisions the wrong way though. Mind you, what chance has he got when the likes of Skippy are continously trying to cheat. I've always been one of McDonald's biggest fans but he really got on my tits the day.

Absolutely loved it today. This is what supporting Motherwell is all about. Nobody in the team let us down today.
-
Thought everyone was superb the day. The man on loan just edges O'Brien for me.
-
Plymouth or Southampton are what he'll be waiting for.

Biggest game of the season and we fucked up majorly. Lets be honest, we should have been capable of sweeping St Mirren aside at Fir Park. We have been mediocre at best this season.
-
Would love to see a reaction from the players and get a result but Celtic have been getting pelters recently as well and have had all week to think about the game. I'd love to see an end to end goals galore game that maybe brings Scottis fitba back out the gutter but I expect a professional performance from Celtic where they will run out comfortable winners. Wont be surprised if McGhee goes 451 and I dont think I'd be totally against the idea. Neverhteless, the Celtic defence is gash and I hope we get in about them. 'Mon the 'Well. Keep the season alive. So the heart says 3-2 'Well.

Klimpl seems to escape criticism. He wasn't rotten last night but IU didn't see anything great. him and Hughes are never going to be a midfield partnership. And while I dont agree with the principle of playing a defensive midfielder on the left against a team the calibre of St Mirren, I do think we would have taken it to Extra Time if we had kept Fitzpatrick on the pitch. The midfield really is a conundrum as we have decent depth but McGhee is yet to work out what our best shape is. I think we miss something when Lasley isn't buzzing about but how we fit him in is another matter.
-
I like Fitzpatrick in the middle but do we really need a defensive left sided midfielder against St Mirrren? Stick him on the left side of a midfield 3 and we'll get the best out of him.
-
He definately deserves to come on with 20/30 minutes to go in a game. I also think McGhee made the mistake of playing him out on the wing too often. He is a striker.
-
Maybe rather than questioning the ability of our current players, there deserves to be a bit of scrutiny over our training methods and set-pieces in particular. When it comes to free-kicks and corners we generally offer very little threat. Hammelll used to have a decent strike on him, now he seems content at 'lofting' the ball into the box when he is 25 yards from goal. As for corners, there is rarely any pace on the ball. And why the fuck do we keep Craigan and Reynolds back? Very few clubs in world football must keep both there centre halves back at corners. Craigan and Reynolds used to pop up with a goal once in a while did they not!?

We need to start shooting before we can think about scoring. Shelve all the tippy-tappy stuff in the final 3rd and lets be direct.
