  1. Ive rated Cadden highly since I first seen him but in order for us to get £600k+ In the summer, I think he needs to start scoring more goals and providing more assists. Unfortunately, that wont be easy playing wingback.
  2. Bowman got a bad injury in training yesterday, according to Hartley.
  3. Hartley to sign a permanent deal in next few days. Robinson keen on another centre half and left back.
  4. Welcome result and it was a pleasure to listen to mixlr for a change. Depending on the seriousness of injuries to Bowman, Aldred, Newell and Plummer, we may be in for a busy end to the transfer window.
  5. Back 4 with diamond in midfield? At least with Bigi on bench, it gives us a decent option if we need to kick on 2nd half. The absence of Cadden and Frear will always make things difficult though.
  6. The club reportedly has very high hopes for Adam Livingstone, which is great to hear. I suspect however, that even if he fulfils his promise, he is some distance away from being a regular starter. That being the case, we really need to find a natural left back, preferably someone that is comfortable on the ball and can bomb up and down the park. Its a problem position that McCall, Baraclough and McGhee failed to address adequately. I doubt we will find the answer in January but hopefully its top priority for the summer.
  7. Think the point is that if St Mirren are running away with league, then the teams behind them are pretty poor. Something Id agree with based on limited tv coverage.
  8. Yes, confirmed in press conference. Cadden was always going to be a wait and see but I wasnt aware of Tanners injury until the Tenerife coverage commenced. As important a game as it is, we hopefully learned our lessons and wont risk them if its a 50/50 call.
  9. Regarding the team, Id like to see us go 4231/433 for the 2nd half of the season with Cadden and Frear higher up the park. Judging by Robinsons comments in December however, a back 3 will remain the preferred approach. That being the case, Id go: Carson Kipre McHugh Dunne Cadden Rose Campbell Bigi Tait Tanner Nadir I think this will go to a replay. Edit - Robinson unsure whether Cadden and Tanner will make it.
  10. Meanwhile, Liverpool appear to be doing alright without him. Did he get to 1000 games?
  11. Wheres the link? A good few players have left Scotland in recent years and done just fine. Cummings meanwhile wanted to go to Ibrox in the summer but Hibs obviously wouldnt sell to them. If Moult manages to keep himself fit and Preston switch to two strikers, he will do just fine.
  12. If Alan Nixon is tweeting the Aldred link then its likely happening. Done well with Blackpool in league 2 before a poor spell at Bury in league 1. Seemingly not very good with the ball at his feet so he will be in good company across our backline. Other than that, should be a solid option.
  13. Interestingly, he cant get much game time in a defence that has Nicky Devlin and Luke Leahy as regular starters. Potentially suggests there isnt much difference between L1 and some of the better Scottish lower league players. Having said that, while reading up on Walsall I found a pal for Ciftci. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WZZur835hKk
  14. Did I hear right - 19 for the season? Good on him.
  15. Talking of left backs, Demetri Mitchell on loan to Hearts from Man Utd is very decent business.
  16. Agreed. Someone that is a left back by trade too. Had enough of these players (Chalmers, Jules and Dunne) that can reportedly cover centre half and left back.
  17. Its been a while since I had such optimism around a signing, Skippy was probably the last. There is talk of Ciftci being a disruptive influence but hopefully he is just the type that needs an arm around the shoulder from Keith. Regarding incomings and outgoings it is shaping up to be the high turnover I anticipated with talk of a 3rd striker. I would be surprised to see Newell make way via loan, he will likely be on peanuts and appears to have impressed the management team. Fisher, Bowman and Dimi though - who knows? Presumably, we are also in the market for a left back. Given the short term nature of our others signings, it would be good if we could identify and invest in a young left back that fits the Marvin/Moult/Kipre mould. If Heneghan returns, Hartley stays on and Cadden/Frear return from injury, we should have more than enough to avoid a stressful end to the season.
  18. You must have missed the midweek trip to Forfar. As good as Hammell was, Ive been struggling to identify games and moments as key highlights specific to him. Maybe thats a reflection of his consistency over the years. The one regret will always be starting the 2011 cup final in midfield, I wonder if him and McCall ever had words about it.
  19. Would you not expect us to try and move 2 on?
  20. I went and watched Dundee United a dozen or so times the year they kept pumping us and lost the Scottish Cup final to St Johnstone. I thought he was a class act so delighted he is signing (albeit on loan). If motivated, hopefully he can rediscover his united form and prove that his previous success was not solely down to the quality of Robertson, Armstrong and Gauld that surrounded him. I still think we will be looking for a 3rd striker to do the job Dimi was brought in for.
  21. At last, an incoming striker with a bit of quality. Ciftci does not strike me as Robinson type signing but fingers crossed he is keen to get his career back on track. If he can get anywhere near his United form we have something to get excited about.
  22. Each to their own but Ill only ever have good things to say about Murphy and as much as I dislike Rangers, I look forward to seeing him play.
  23. There has been suggestions of players not settling due to family and/or player demands increasing since cup final. Maybe Hartley falls into one of these categories? Hopefully not and we are just waiting for him to sort things out with Blackpool.
  24. Really sad to see him retire but its no great surprise. One of the most technically gifted players we have produced and an utterly fantastic servant to the club. Such a shame his last few years were dogged by injury after being one of the first names on the team sheet week in week out for over a decade. Wish him all the best in his new role, delighted he is staying with the club. Hopefully he can have better luck than his predecessors in identifying a Stevie Hammell replacement.
  25. Struggle to see Heneghan returning unless Hartley or Kipre are moving on.
