It was becoming increasingly inevitable but it's nevertheless sad to hear injury has curtailed big Micks' career. While he didn't meet the expectations of an esteemed Scotland/Celtic player, he was a very good experienced defender at our level. Good luck to McManus in his new role, hope he is around for a while. Think he had the credentials to be a good manager.

Scottish Premiership Game 2: St Johnstone (A) Saturday 12/08/17

Pretty clear from the Sportscene coverage that Carson handled the ball outside the box. Unless we can appeal on the grounds that it wasn't a goal scoring opportunity, there is no point appealing. As has been mentioned, really poor from Carson. Dunne's red card will be rescinded. -
Priority for me is finding a striker with genuine quality. Whether he's good at linking up the play or threatening with his pace, we can adjust our style accordingly. The important thing is that we find a striker who puts defences on the backfoot and offers a bit of composure in front of goal. Find that player and he'll compliment Moult and Fisher well. If the departure of Bowman can help finance such a move then so be it.

The paranoia certainly needs to put to one side. The club will have learned from the McGhee saga last season. -
There is a naivety about the team with some of our most experienced players - Moult, Carson and McHugh - making very poor decisions that have thrown away the last 2 games. Hopefully just a blip that we'll learn from quickly.

Bigirimana blanked Griffiths on the way off the pitch. Usually you would expect a shake of the hand or the like. No major issue, just found it a bit off. -

Just watched the game on Alba. First and foremost, the performance wasn't as bad as some are making it out to be. I thought Andy Rose was out motm although I'm not sure what his best position is. I'm yet to be convinced by Bigirimana - ineffective on the pitch and I didn't like his failure to acknowledge Griffiths at the substitution. The poor decision making for the first two goals appears to be engrained in Motherwell fullbacks. Unfortunately, with Bowman upfront we don't have the required quality to make amends for the inevitable defensive lapses. Shame, as St Johnstone and Rangers have been there for the taking. Regarding the sendings off, the tv coverage for Carson is inconclusive but I can understand the ref making the decision he did. Dunne looks like a very harsh call. McHugh, stonewall sending off, another disappointing week for the captain we all wanted. Regarding the squad, we really need to address the limited options up front. Character will only take you so far, we need a bit of quality to replace McDonald and Ainsworth, O'Halloran would have been ideal imo. Presumably we have someone lined up but the delay in signing a pacy forward has probably cost us at least 2 points. -

Moult should also have been off last week. -

Cast your mind back a few months prior to McGhee getting the bullet. -

The Ross County win gives us a bit of breathing space from a confidence perspective but given the run of home games, we'll need to pick up points soon. Can't comment too much as I'm only listening but the lineup looked unbalanced and devoid of creativity from the off. No surprise to see O'Halloran score a couple, very good signing for St Johnstone. -

No sure how our left side will shape up, I thought Plummer would start today. -

Didn't have the chance to follow game but good to hear we squeezed through. Well done Motherwell, wee bit of glory for MacLean a bonus. Aberdeen game should be a nice little earner. -

Bigi's illness that reportedly prevented him playing under SFA rules would have nothing to do with dodgy Ashley deals. -

When Bigirimana was at Rangers, there was talk of a mystery illness which prevented him from playing in Scotland despite getting the all-clear to play in England. -
Burrows reiterating on twitter that a few could still come in. Interested to see who will go. Wrexham fans seem confident of getting Bowman. Today was probably the biggest shop window for our players. Cadden and Heneghan may well spark interest on the back of today.

If Ross County are up for it, I think Wednesday will be a tougher assignment today. They will be far more comfortable than Rangers at dealing with our crosses into the box. If Bigi is still absent, hopefully Campbell gets the nod ahead of Rose. Although maybe both will play if Frear is injured, with Tanner playing from the left. Could do with Fisher getting off the mark. -

Did neither the BBC or Sky ask Robinson pre-match about the absence of our highest profile signing? -
Cadden, Kipre and Heneghan impressed the most. Would give Cedric the nod for motm given how exposed he was by the Tait tactic. Coped admirably.

After a car crash of an opening 20 minutes we went on to put in a very good performance despite McHugh and Moult being under par. Plenty to be encouraged by. We need to find a decent forward though or we'll go on to have a season of near misses. -

We have been very good to watch since we settled down, could easily be 3-3. However the Tait tactic is batshit crazy, please address at ht. -

The Tait tactic baffled me against Queens Park. Can't believe we are sticking with it in the league, nevermind against Rangers. Suicidal. -

Yes. Twitter has been busy with Rangers fans appealing for tickets the last couple of weeks.
