  1. I had a similar hunch although that was probably driven by Murrant's tweet after the England game.
  2. The last thing we need is a deep lying midfielder. When we back in pre-season? Tomorrow? I suspect Robinson will want 1 or 2 more, in addition to Griffiths and the rumoured Dunne, before heading to Dublin.
  3. I watched the u20s a fair bit during the Baraclough era and Thomas and Cadden were both dynamite, one bursting with natural ability, the other with great athleticism. Clearly though, Thomas hasn't applied himself the same way Cadden, McLean and Campbell have. Last chance saloon this season or he'll fall down the leagues.
  4. I previously mentioned on here that Peterborough had transfer listed a few players including NI right back, Michael Smith. A fee has been agreed with Coventry but the Peterborough owner tweeted yesterday to say a Scottish Premiership club is also in for him...
  5. Scougall signs for St Johnstone. I hope we've got something up our sleeve as he would have been an excellent capture at an affordable price.
  6. So it is Charles Dunne? Oldham pal told me he was atrocious.
  7. As much as I love Lasley, I have reservations about a novice manager having an inexperienced assistant so this is good to hear. If the u20s attractive style of play reflects Lasley's mindset, it will be interesting to see how him and Robinson get on.
  8. Judging by Burrows tweets, it's looking unlikely that there will be any further signings this week. That being the case, Rose must have been the attacking midfielder. In relation to the Heneghan speculation, Thistle have agreed a fee with Oxford for Liam Lindsay. Talk of £350k + add ons.
  9. Heneghan looks like being a clever piece of business. We managed to get him on a free while much bigger clubs were reportedly monitoring his progress. I thought he made a bright start at Motherwell before getting exposed in a real poor team. Nevertheless, with the lack of centre halves being produced through British academy football, he's done enough to generate serious interest.
  10. This was confirmed a while back.
  11. Think most fans wouldn't be upset at seeing him leave for £250k. If the rumoured interest is anywhere near genuine, competition could see us get closer to £400k. Worth bearing in mind that Burnley are about to sell Michael Keane for £25mil.
  12. Talking of creative midfielders, Scott Allan signs for Dundee on loan.
  13. Replacing the quality of McDonald with a player who wasn't wanted by Plymouth and replaced by Ainsworth, I can't see it.
  14. The later the fixtures are announced, the less time folk will spend moaning about winter trips to Inverness and Ross County. Wise move from the SPFL.
  15. We'll hopefully get clarification whether Rose is the attacking midfielder. Hopefully not. I think most would agree with Steelboy, that we need a creative midfielder with a bit of guile to drag the team up the park and open up defences. Frear and Cadden can be excellent attacking outlets but they would benefit greatly from a Nicky Law type pulling the strings. This is why names like Scougall and Carey excite me.
  16. Possibly. I have reservations over the quality of player that is willing to tie himself down to a trial at this point of the summer. Probably reading too much into it mind you.
  17. I agree but it looks like we've chose our left back and he sounds like a bit of a punt.
  18. A pacy forward was mentioned somewhere along the line too....
  19. Players in the same bracket as Scougall and Stewart shouldn't be wildly out of reach. While our budget will be tight, we have lost 2 of our biggest earners and there is more money than usual floating about Scottish football this summer courtesy of the TV deal and Celtic. Regarding the players mentioned, Scougall has said he's considering offers from Scotland. Stewart meanwhile will probably come back up the road on loan with someone playing a fraction of his wage. There will obviously be plenty of competition for him though.
  20. Burrows confirmed on twitter that the delay in naming the new left sided defender relates to injury/fitness. Shame, I was hoping we'd prioritise left back for a bit of proven quality.
  21. Not overly keen on the home strip although it does bring back memories of a Tommy Coyne Pony effort. Away is a belter.
  22. I think we just need to be patient. We are probably looking at 10+ signings this summer and they will vary in quality, experience and anticipated contribution. Burrows enthusiasm suggests to me that we'll make a number of signings at the Moult/McHugh end of the spectrum. To date, I'd say Bigi and Carson probably fit into that category. My hunch is that the proposed attacking midfielder will be along similar lines.
  23. Maybe just teasing the muppets like us that'll go searching for a name. Otherwise, a player under contract to end of June - it is a bid odd though. Hopefully more news to come today.
  24. Burrows up early for a busy and productive day. Fingers crossed for 1 or 2 big signings.
  25. The retweet from Kenny Millar is why I'm taking it seriously but yeah, not the best of articles.
