  1. So that's 6 of the bottom 7 teams now had a win against the top teams in the last 10 days. Struggling to recall a spell where so many results have went against in such a short space of time. Fail to get a result against Killie and we are in real bother.
  2. I hope it is Owen Coyle but part of me thinks we'll be looking for a manager that can work with Robinson and McFadden, in the short term at least. Coyle tends to take Sandy Stewart and John Henry everywhere.
  3. That's 5 of the bottom 7 beat 1 of the top 5 in the last week or so. Further evidence that McGhee talks shite. Hopefully as a team and a support, we can shake off the inferiority complex.
  4. Bookies odds mean next to nothing. I lost a fair whack on Van der Gaag and then profited on McGhee at 33/1. I think the decision to put Robinson in interim charge rules out Craigan for now. I also think Oldham's upturn in form will count against Robinson, My hunch is that we know who we want and a deal could be done shortly.
  5. If we are looking beyond Robinson/Craigan and assuming Coyle is out our reach, I expect us to be interested in the likes of Stubbs. IIRC, he was on our radar a few years ago when we were doing a fair bit of business with Moyes' brother. If we weren't in such a precarious position, I'd be looking seriously at Gary Naysmith.
  6. Pleased to have the inevitable confirmed, the writing has been on the wall since Ibrox and I was surprised to hear so many thinking he would still be in charge this Saturday. Critical few week ahead.
  7. Huge fan of Cadden but he hasn't looked right since picking up an injury against Celtic after a storming 1st half. Despite the assist, his performance at Ibrox was hard to watch. Added to this, he is expected to be the sole attacking outlet from midfield which is an unfair pressure on him. For all his assets he doesn't have the guile to open up organised defences. His game is all about carrying the ball and breaking into space but such space isn't going to appear when you don't have a Marvin occupying multiple defenders. McGhee's main failure this season has been the inability to find a formation that works. The overuse of Cadden on the right, while Ainsworth has been treated like an outcast, has done nobody any favours.
  8. It was mentioned on the Podcast that Jim McMahon is in hospital. Hopefully it's nothing too serious but it may delay the inevitable. Who is vice chairman? Dickie?
  9. Seriously? I can't envisage the Board and Burrows being so out of touch. I'd be amazed if he's at Rugby Park on Saturday.
  10. I'd like to think discussions have been ongoing since the trip to Ibrox. His handling of the McDonald situation and his post match interview set the alarm bells ringing.
  11. This is where we have a dilemma. The Board have let us slide to such an extent that we find ourselves in a very precarious position, a position that may jeopardise our very near future if we don't make the right appointment. Assuming the Board don't have confidence in McGhee achieving his primary objective, we have the following options imo: 1. Replace McGhee with an experienced head that will give us the best chance of us staying up. Given his connections and credentials, Owen Coyle is the obvious option but I'd worry he is somewhat fatigued from the Blackburn experience and may want to spend a few months recharging his batteries. Davies would be a name of a similar ilk but I doubt the Board want to risk splitting the support yet again. 2. Promote Craigan to work alongside Robinson. I'm not sure who would be manager out the two but this is probably the most likely option. Personally I feel we need a completely fresh approach. I'm a huge admirer of what Craigan is doing with the u20s, he has the team incredibly well drilled and is utterly committed to individual development. This is exactly what we need but I worry his approach isn't transferable to dealing with senior pros. 3. Bring in someone completely fresh with a clear drive to improve themselves and the club. Someone, who is willing to work all the hours under the sun and take proper managerial control. I've kept an eye on Gary Naysmith since the trip to East Fife and I think he may have a very bright future ahead of him. Whether it was Naysmith or the aforementioned Simo, such an appointment would have to happen in the summer to have any chance of success.
  12. Huge fan of Campbell but now is not the time to bring him in.
  13. Anyone know if the semi is indeed tomorrow?
  14. Yeah I'd agree, possibly symbolic of a players who gets to pick and chose when he plays for us. However he is one of the few players with a bit of dig and quality. He was wasted wide left today, I'd get him right in the middle of the park, guarding our defence.
  15. McGhee won't be at Kilmarnock. Whoever is in charge must get the spine of the team right. For me, that's Heneghan and McHugh at centre half, Pearson and Lasley directly in front of them and the obvious two up top.
  16. Goal for Jamie Murphy today and now top of the league.
  17. McMahon surely has the final decision. We won't make an announcement until we know what direction are we heading in. Will it be Craigan/Robinson or will it be an external appointment? Personally, I think the club is in such a rut we need a completely fresh approach. Unfortunately however, the timing is not great and we need someone that can hit the ground running and keep Motherwell in the Premiership. IIRC, Burrows talked McCall out of resigning after the 3-1 Dundee game, hopefully he doesn't make the same mistake again.
  18. McHugh had to start at the back today, using his experience and reading of the game to manage the back 4. Chalmers clearly doesn't have a football brain and Jules isn't any better, playing them next to eachother was absolute car crash material. Extremely poor management from McGhee. Feel sorry for Hemeghan, he tried to offer some leadership but he was surrounded by absolute dross. Why we didn't change things and bring Lasley on at 2-1 or 3-1 to try and prevent an embarrassment is beyond me.
  19. Would be amazed if McGhee returns from Brighton next week. Other positions at the club should also be under the scrutiny. We reportedly have a model where a chief scout identifies the players and Burrows sorts out the deals. The quality on the park would suggest neither have done a particularly good job in the last year.
  20. 45 minutes left of this cunt.
  21. As I suspected, Jules nowhere near ready. Mcamanus nowhere near as bad as some eejits make out.
  22. Decent result for Inverness adds a wee bit of pressure ahead of tomorrow.
  23. 3 wins in 3 games against Sevco for Laing.
