The £250k release clause was mentioned a long time ago and Dundee have never denied it. On the radio on Saturday, Hartley was talking up Hemmings and Stewart, gagging to sell them. Assume he is under instruction to generate income, not too dissimilar to McGhee developing Marvin.
-
So Hemmings away to Oxford. Yesterday, they were rumoured to be interested in Johnson.

Motherwell V East Stirlingshire 26/7/16

Regarding Dom Thomas, I expect McGhee and McFadden to work him hard between now and the end of August before deciding whether he should go out on loan. Look how far Marvin has came on over the last 9 months. He's a machine now oozing with confidence. If Dom is as dedicated, we'll have a fine player on our our hands. Personally mind you, I'd like to see him play centrally. -
Cadden for me for his determination throughout. Once he nails his final ball, he's going to be a terrific player. Marvin deserves a mention, he's gradually starting to look a step above. Also pleased for Lionel who looks to be enjoying his football again and has contributed significantly to our two victories.

Amazing comeback from his career threatening back injury. Back to our midfield, you've got to think McGhee is looking at alternatives to Lucas and Clay. While it would be harsh to judge them on their outings to date, neither play the same position as Pearson. If the likes of Liam Henderson is outwith out grasp, we need to find a player with similar attributes.

Thought we did just fine tonight. For the first time this season we tried to impose our passing game and I'm sure sharpness of touch and movement will come in time. Cadden, Johnson and Ainsworth impressed most. Credit to East Stirlingshire for defending resolutely and posing some threat on the counter attack in first half. Tricky one on Saturday but something to look forward too. Disappointed I can't make it. -
Faddy and Lasley looked like 2 relatively obvious candidates to me. There are obvious reservations given Faddy's coaching experience in comparison to Robinson but I can't help but feel all giddy.

Will We Qualify For The Next Stage Of The League Cup
Lobey_Dosser replied to middleeastdave's topic in Club Chat
4 euro teams + 4 best group winners will be seeded. Would like to think you couldn't play a team from your group in last 16 but haven't seen that documented anywhere. -
From the snippets I've seen online and watching his brief outing yesterday, he reminds me a little of Paul Lawson. Sadly Lucas has had even worse luck with injuries. If we are interested I'd expect any contract offer to be very low risk. I had hoped we would have pursued a more obvious replacement for Pearson but at the moment, McGhee has 2 hands behind his back with the budget constraints.

Will We Qualify For The Next Stage Of The League Cup

If any team with 3 wins from 4 and a healthy goal difference doesn't qualify, then the format is a bit harsh. We should be looking to win by a few on Tuesday. Stranraer could be tough though. -
McHugh certainly stuck his foot in against Rangers. Given he was recently converted into a midfielder by Derek Adams, I don't expect much from him in an attacking sense. He'll be best suited to sitting in a 3/5 man midfield. Hopefully he offers the defence the protection it's been missing since Jennings left.
-
Decent enough trip down to Annan and a comfortable victory in the end credit. Fair play to Moult playing through injury and making the difference with his goals. Marvin was too much for them to handle and while Ainsworth splits opinion, he was pivotal to our spell of dominance in the 2nd half. Shame the boy Lucas couldn't stay fit in order for McGhee to have a good look at him. It's blatantly clear that we need a creative midfielder to feed our good attacking options. Very early days but I like the look of Heneghan.
-
Yeah there was a press conference last season with Louis that was a bit of an eye opener. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=B_shWLbjAJo
-
Shame if that's the case but not overly surprising given the arrival of Heneghan and his absence during pre-season. Don't know what has happened there. Had the makings of a decent centre half before faltering at East Fife. Both McGhee and Laing hinted towards a loss of confidence last season. Suspect he'll be on a half decent wage.
-
Another England C international. Going by the highlights reel he looks a bit of an all rounder. Obvious question would be whether he could handle step up in pace and quality. Given that he was released by Grimsby, I imagine he'd be a low cost option.
-
That's a comprehensive statement that hopefully puts an end to it. Fair play to the club. Sometimes you'd worry about a player not being happy but Skippy is the ultimate professional imo. Away and sign a quality midfielder now, Henderson isn't getting a look in at Celtic.

I'm not one for defending the media in this country but given the close proximity of McDonalds contract extension, it seems a bit of an obscure story to develop out of nowhere. Recent years would suggest that when it comes to McDonald, one or two journalists tend to know the script.
-
I actually meant to say billionaire but obviously my brain wouldn't allow me.
-
If an opportunity to head to Sydney has suddenly arisen, I'd wish him well. I'd also expect the club to be accommodating given his service to the club. Nevertheless, to let him leave without a transfer fee, however nominal that may be, would be hugely disappointing. Clearly though, the Keith Jackson story is at odds with Burrows tweet this morning. Would like to think Burrows is more trustworthy than the journalist that celebrate Craig Whyte as a multi millionaire.
-
That was my original thinking but realistically who would have offered compensation for Moore.
-
I'm not sure Melvin. Fail to win in 90 mins and we are most probably out. Last season we were outplayed on a perfect pitch at East Fife before McDonald and Moult (iirc?) got us out of jail in extra time. I think we need to go with strongest team possible if we are taking this competition seriously. I wouldn't be surprised however if we protect the likes of Hammell due to plastic surface.
-
Burrows saying there have been no enquiries about McDonald. Not convinced this story has developed from thin air though. McDonald is not shy in using the media and the Daily Mail seem to have a feel for dealings at Fir Park, particularly since Les came on the scene.
-
There's no way we have a better team at this moment with Pearson gone and Lasley a year older. Our midfield is of significant concern.
-
So we weren't continuously talking to him as suggested?
