In principle I don't think fixtures should be balanced to reflect size of club. However, I think today emphasis that the league structure should be balanced in a way that you play every team the same number of times home and away. We, along with Accies and Thistle by the looks of it, have taken a significant financial hit today. However it's a structure all clubs seem to support.

So, we raised ST prices, partly to reflect the increase in 'Category 1' games...

That is precisely my view in this. Despite his age his importance to the team is such that you'd need to be offered daft money, say £250k, in order to accept it.

Weirdly, a Thistle fan at my work was talking about an ex Motherwell player but had no name. If he's available at our level of wages, we should be all out to get him. He's worth 10/15 points a season. Laing could go to right back and Kennedy would provide strong competition. I still think bigger clubs will be interested in him though.

Fine for Motherwell but shite for the national team if some of our best prospects (not saying Leitch is) get gobbled up by English development teams and hit the age of 20 without a sniff of competitive football.

Doesnt look great if our head of youth can't keep his own son at the club but fair play to Robbie if he's got a move to England, he looks a cracking prospect. Still all rumours at the moment but are we starting to see a growing trend of our youth prospects getting picked up by English clubs before they've even made an impression in our first team.

Fair play to the boy if he can get a contract at an English championship club. We can't compete with that. Having said that, I can't see him getting a sniff of a game in the English Championship anytime soon and would expect him to be loaned out.

Wasn't aware of clubs being categorised when it comes to development fees. When you think Hibs paid £100k for McGinn though, £100k for Hall wouldn't be terrible business. Interested to see where he ends up. Strange how McGhee propelled him into the team from nowhere, he has the NI connection with the coaching staff but he's seemingly been destined to leave for months.

Brill has been out with a bad knee injury for over a year. Would be hoping for a more inspiring option to challenge the uninspiring Samson. Sad to hear Hammell is possibly struggling to get a top tier club. Years of playing week in week out while often carrying knocks and strains, possibly catching up with him.

Most folk on holiday and McGhee has been away with Scotland. Having said that, I'd expect Lasley/Hamell/Hall decisions within the next week or so.

I do agree that they should be offered reduced terms in line with the expectation that their contribution will taper out. I expect both players would be content with this too. The level of cuts however may be to the extent that they could comfortably get a better deal elsewhere in Scotland. If that's the case, good luck to them.

Law moving on would be welcome news given how tight the budget is. I would be sad to see Hammell and/or Lasley leave in such fashion with no farewell at the end of the season. However I can fully understand them not being happy if the offers are as derisory as the tone suggests. The joys of proposed fan ownership starting from a heavy deficit...

If Ainsworth is available for £100-200k I'd expect a few clubs to be sniffing about. I'd be very disappointed to see a player of Lionel's quality leave but if McGhee can't get the best out of him, then it's best for both parties to engineer a move.
