  1. Can't wait to see how he gears up the Scotland team for the Italy and France games.
  2. A meaningless game has turned into a red neck and taken the gloss off what was a decent season.
  3. Disgraceful. Naive tactics from the manager. Poor application from the players. You can understand a drop-off in performance when there is nothing to play for at the end of a long but rewarding season. This however is shameful.
  4. That's the Luke Watt experiment over with. Such a wild call. After the youth cup final, I didn't expect to see him for some time.
  5. Lasley played the 90 at Parkhead did he not? We rarely get into a game without him starting.
  6. Generally speaking, Motherwell are pretty tough to watch when Lasley and Hammel are absent. Next season we do need to find suitable replacement while tapering down the contribution of the experienced duo. Would be amazed if Watt appeared for the 2nd half. Beyond dreadful.
  7. Seeing today why Luke Watt hasn't featured in McGhee's plans. We are brutal all over the park though, heads not focused on the game.
  8. Game for Luke Watt out of nowhere. Not quite sure how we'll line up with Hammell missing. Assume Campbell is injured buy fair play to David Turnbull getting on the bench, think he's still 16.
  9. Bring back McHugh, some boy. I can mind he had a header wrongly disallowed in the League Cup when Hibs went on to win on pens. Since then, he's scored 5 times in last 10 mins against Hibs. On the downside, I think tonight put's an end to my notion that Luke Leahy could be a Motherwell target one day. Great left back.
  10. Thomas, Watt and Campbell under contract. Mackin and Ferguson in McGhee's plans. Hall offered a contract. The only name I can think of that could be considered a surprise by some is Ross McLean who has been very unfortunate with injury.
  11. Going by today's press conference, McGhee seems keen to get Mackin and Ferguson more involved next season along with Thomas and Campbell. Yet to hear back from Ben Hall's agent...
  12. Griffiths and Brown missing. Repeat of December, 2-1 Motherwell, Moult double.
  13. Good result and an extra £100k in the bank. 9 goals for Pearson is a very good return, particularly when he has missed 2/3 months of the season. With 5th place guaranteed, hopefully we can see a bit more of Thomas and Campbell at Parkhead on Sunday.
  14. Maybe a back 3 with Cadden and Johnson as wing backs. Alternatively, I don't know if Gomis could do a job at right back, doubt it mind you.
  15. Ayr Utd playoff on Alba tonight if anyone wants a look at Craig Moore.
  16. I'd agree. McGhee is steering things in a similar way to McCall did. He'll be hoping to get a performance out the players tonight and add another £100k to budget. From what I can gather it was also McGhee that shared the El Bakhtaoui story with the BBC at the weekend. Again, possibly trying to ensure every penny is available to him while putting a wee bit of public pressure on Scott McDonald. More generally, I'd be surprised if we aren't currently talking to English clubs about the sale of 1 or 2 players, namely Johnson and Moult.
  17. Always liked the boy Leahy when I've seen him on the telly. Under contract unfortunately.
  18. That's pretty decent although I suspect we are going down the petrol blue route. Guess we won't see anything until we have a sponsor. Interestingly, according to p&b 2 or 3 premier clubs are going with the same shirt sponsor, McEwan Fraser.
  19. Surprised we are offering McFadden and Samson contracts at this stage. Reduced contracts to be expected for Lasley and Hammell as you anticipate a reduction in contribution from those two on the park but I'd like to think both will continue to have a big influence at the club. Wee bit harsh on McManus as you'd expect him to be an ever-present barring injury but I suppose we are cutting our cloth accordingly in order to pay back Les.
  20. Just a note on Scott McDonald, when the club announced a 1 year contract with a 1 year option, I interpreted the option as being within the clubs' control. Seemingly that's not the case. Hope we keep hold of him. I thought a signing such as El Bakhtaoui would materialise with the departure of Moult, Marvin or Ainsworth.
  21. So the only time there has been a hint of bother with our end of season tradition has been when Celtic or Rangers have been in town. I appreciate the club were in a difficult position with 'ramifications' hanging over them but maybe we should have showed a bit of backbone in fighting the unprecedented and disproportionate action. On a side note, it would be interesting to hear the views of the Well Society on yesterday's events.
  22. Given the scale of the security operation today, which would have cost a hefty 5 figure sum, I can only assume the ramifications are in the points deduction/closed doors ballpark. Punishment that goes well beyond the scale of the 'crime'. The scene at Fir Park was an utter embarrassment for Scottish football today. From facing a wall of stewards and mesh fencing, you get home to see Bocelli sing Nessun Dorma in front of 30,000 Leicester City fans who've just been treated to free beer and pizza. I like to defend Scottish football but today resembled the backwater league that many portray it to be.
  23. Marvin for the first 30 minutes. Nobody else in contention. Swanson decent for them.
