We weren't the only game that only showed goal(s). 5 min highlights online for anyone that wants them plus 2 games on alba. Not bad going.
-
We gave them an absolute doing that day. Going by highlights in the last 2 weeks, Marvin looks rejuvenated. Again going by highlights, the final ball isn't always there but we're getting plenty bodies in the box. Pleased to see Moult on the scoresheet. Really likeable player and a top prospect. Looking forward to us being back at Fir Park next week.

The Lee Erwin inspired victory at Rugby Park in April was one of my highlights of last season. Killie seem to have turned things around but hopefully we pick up at least a point. Will be interesting to see if the likes of Marvin and Fletcher will be risked on the plastic pitch.

According to McCall on the TV a few weeks back, it certainly wasn't lack of application or desire that held Forbes back.

Judging by the highlights, a very deserved point although Aberdeen should have probably been out of sight early in 2nd half. Highlights would suggest we were pretty ropey at the back on occasion, particularly down Chalmers side, but good to see us creating plenty chances again and getting bodies in the box. Textbook header from Skippy. If he's fit, that should be him back in the starting XI. Credit to McGhee and the players for putting in such a shift. Hopefully we can kick on from here and it's not a false dawn like the Tannadice performance back in Jan when Pearson and Erwin impressed greatly.

Good solid point from what sounds like a much improved performance. Shame the Alba highlights aren't until tomorrow.

Fagan scored from about 20 yards in a 5-0 win over Falkirk at FP. Think he scored a good yin against Hibs too.
-
Just get in the house to check the score and Rooney scores. Fuck. Is Moult wide left today?
-
McGinn and Hayes should run riot against our non-existent full-backs. 3-0 Aberdeen.

I can mind thinking we had signed a cracking striker in Derek Adams. Came with a great scoring record at Ross County and then showed sublime technique to score a consolation on his debut (I think) against Celtic. He went on to be a good servant for Motherwell but not the striker I expected. There have been numerous young players on the fringes who showed brief glimpses of promise before quickly disappearing down the leagues and/or out the game. I fear Craig Moore is about to join that group. The only one the club wrongly let go was Lawless. When I was young, two players I quickly latched onto in the early 90s were McGrillen and Burns. Again both went on to have decent careers but neither notched up the number of goals for Motherwell that I envisaged. And finally, Ross Forbes, I've rarely seen such technique and composure in a young Motherwell player. Evidently he didn't have the engine but surely with the right coaching, he'd have played at a high level.

Hearing from Craigan and Leitch in recent days, it seems apparent that Watt and Thomas don't have the same maturity and mental strength that Faddy, Clarkson, Pearson and Hammell displayed at 17/18.

Mfc Podcast/well Society Q&a Evening - This Wednesday
Lobey_Dosser replied to AndyRoss's topic in Club Chat
Hopefully you get a more rewarding turnout next time but it sounds like you put on a right good show Andy. Familiar with some of the stories if your podcast guests, it was very interesting to hear Scott Leitch speak at length. -
Good to hear and glad to see Luke Watt is back in the frame. Surprised none of the 1st team squad were included but that may be done to the double sessions.
-
Will be interesting to see who gets a run-out for the U20s tomorrow with a chance to impress for Saturday. Aberdeen have plenty quality about them but they have clearly went off the rails since McInnes had a wee outburst. We should be going there to frustrate and nick a result. Hopefully Ainsworth and Lasley are back in the team with Moult playing upfront. I also wouldn't be averse to Grimshaw playing at right back.

Pettigrew game was on Sportscene last night.

To be fair much of the negativity aired in these forums has been warranted over recent years. From Dempster overspending to McCall throwing the towel in, from the WS not being fit for purpose to Baraclough being out his depth, many concerns have been proven. Regarding McGhee, I think he is a poor appointment but he'll get the backing of most, including myself, if he can get us looking like a semi-competent football team again.

Cheers for info. Sounds like the Government have tried to tackle sectarianism in the wrong way. Bemused anyone can get into trouble for singing Fuck the 'Well.

What are the protests striving for? Revision of the current Act?
-
Not sure which of the 1st team regulars he'll turnaround but maybe some of the youth will prosper. Increased exposure for Thomas would fit in with McGhee's style of play in 2007/08. Going by McGhee's comments today, he's looking at a possible midfield three with plenty of energy. That might give Cadden a chance at last. And if we do go down the 433 route, we're going to need decent full backs. Whatever the script is with Watt, he's miles better than Law and Chalmers.

Am I right in saying there was less than 200 arrests under the Act last season? Stupid standing shoulder to shoulder with the Green Brigade regardless of the circumstances and cause.
-
Real struggle to pick anyone but Kennedy probably deserves it for looking a proper defender. Mention for Moult who put in some effort trying to help out the headless chicken at left back. Really hope he isn't going to be ruined on the left though.
-
Absolutely rotten to watch, although what McGhee said post match made partial sense. More often than not I'd be happy to try and contain Celtic but in order to do so, you need to move as a unit when you have the ball and we didn't. Moreover, today was a day to go with a front 2 against an accident prone Celtic defence. Going back to McGhee's post match though, we may look to continue with a 433/451 with Laing in midfield. A move that doesn't bode well for Lasley or our plethora of strikers.

Ma-Kalamby. It was probably the night that confirmed McCormack was something special.

The recent trip to Ibrox is right up there due to the fear beforehand. Thinking back to the McGhee era, I loved the league cup game at Easter Road. Sublime football that night.

Pearson was on stv tonight saying the players were given the day off.
