Absolutely rotten to watch, although what McGhee said post match made partial sense. More often than not I'd be happy to try and contain Celtic but in order to do so, you need to move as a unit when you have the ball and we didn't. Moreover, today was a day to go with a front 2 against an accident prone Celtic defence. Going back to McGhee's post match though, we may look to continue with a 433/451 with Laing in midfield. A move that doesn't bode well for Lasley or our plethora of strikers.

According to his Daily Mail interview in August, he has no interest in owning the club and if 3 payments are missed at any point in time, the agreement is over. Nothing new there but it was a bold reminder.

We don't know who would be in control of the club as everything was bound to secrecy. Would John Boyle have sold the club to a South American consortium? Would a local businessman have came to our rescue hours before administration? Under the new regime, it looks like we are racking up debt to LH that the club, society and fans will be paying back for years to come. Now that is fair enough if we reap the rewards from LH investment in a new infrastructure. From the outside however, it looks like funds will be required to pay back investment in an over-inflated staff that is seemingly prone to a high turnover in the 1st year. The project is a 5 year one but the 1st year has not been good with threats from the owner pulling the plug and the WS making minimal progress. A lot has to change if we are going to become a self-sustainable club.

One area I'd defend McGhee would be his development of McCormack, Quinn and Clarkson, which led to sizeable income. During his tenure we also knocked back an offer in excess of £700k for Reynolds iirc. So he has a pedigree at FP for developing our young players. Regarding McGhees departure however, seemingly walking away to save us cash. Did his challenging wage not stem from a rise post Hearts flirtation?

Leitch would appear to be the obvious choice although I have no idea how difficult or easy it would be to fill his Academy role. I think it's mutually beneficial to club and man for Craigan to continue with the u20s role.

Think it's fair to say we are here to talk about Motherwell. The press have had more than enough coverage of Strachan's uncertain future.

Accounting for my obvious dislike of McGhee, I was still disappointed by the tone of the press conference. In addition, Motherwell should have ensured there were no questions about his 2nd job. My interest in Motherwell will now be restrained to the 90 mins on the park. Suspect Robinson is on his way out after guiding his country to he Euro's while we bring in someone who contributed to an 'embarrassing' failure for Scotland.

Strachan's been more deluded than Baraclough in recent press conferences. Hopefully we make an appointment over the weekend in preparation for the Celtic game. He's not everyone's cup of tea and he doesn't appear to be in the frame but I'd be sounding out McNamara. Things went sour in his last 9 months at Tannadice but he has a record of giving young players the opportunity to develop and has a more than decent record in the cups.

That'll be the same journalist who seemingly misquoted the chairman on Baraclough's departure.

Really enjoyed listening to Martyn, great guy and a terrific pro. Maybe he'll end up back at Fir Park one day.

Agree a fresh set of eyes are definitely needed but possibly more experience is required to deal with such a big squad that hasn't been pulling in one direction.
