He was but was also a 'character' which helps.
He came for everthing in the 18 yard box no matter how crowded it was or how many people were in front of him. He used to get to about half of them. It made a big differennce that his defence was the best in the PL at the time.
But you got 3 points for a win in 94-95 and only 2 in 93-94!!
We would have finished 2nd in 93-94 if it had been 3 points for a win and 3rd in 94-95 if it had been 2 points for a win.
Who would win would depend on what era the ref was from the 93-94 team would finish with 6 or 7 players.
The pitch is no worse than any other in the spl and by far much worse than it ever was before under soil heating.
John Chapman a few years ago predicted exactly the problems USH would cause at Fir Park so why shouldn't we blame the spl (old firm apologists)?
Best bet is to email / phone them and ask. I think there were some smaller groups (4) in the Centenary Suite when I was there but that was a couple of seasons ago.
I would also imagine you would have a better chance of a small group at the Hibs game.
No they weren't they were caused by the undersoil heating which the SPL forced us to put in, why do you think we escaped most of the punishments.
The result of the independent report were almost word for word the same as John Chapmen gave for never installing undersoil heating.
Or Aberdeen have listened to sensible legal advise and been told that they stood a very high chance of not only having to pay compensation but also having SPL sanctions applied, have decided on 'an out of court' settlement.
That part in itself is not unusual, the Scottish Cup Final is the last game of the season and it would be normal for at least 1 or 2 to move on during a close season.
Are your percentages not out too. I'm sure Davie Hay took over after we were knocked out of the League cup and after the first league game (which we lost), out with the league he lost one Scottish Cup game (at Tannadice?). So he recorded 26 wins from 39 games or 66.67%.
It's a long time ago and my member may be hazy but that's my recollection.
Was it not Tommy McLean that was the manager in 1984, With David Hay manager in 1981, where he won 26 games in 38 (from memory he wasn't manager for the first game or in the league cup).
But he didn't make a mistake, serious or otherwise, he got it RIGHT. What he did was tell a lie to Lennon, who had no right to an explanation anyway and then back it up by putting the same explanation in his written report. I would doubt there is anyone who hasn't told a minor lie to cover up something at work.
Why didn't you just say you had asked permission first rather than go off on one.
He is and always will be my Motherwell Legend. I remember him being brought back about 3 years after retiring and being the man of the match.
Best wishes Joe.
It does I think that is what Dossertillidie is getting at. If the Old firm are kept apart each crowd will be around 20,000, an Old Firm semi final alone will have a crowd of 50,000, meaning a bigger pot to split.
