Pedantic of me, but Higdons ratio is better. I've no been his biggest fan, but the stats don't lie.

Daily Record running a story on it tomorrow.

Great post!

Naw it smacked the bar!

Fair point, but a line has been crossed for me. As I said, not a fan of doing my washing in public. I just feel its really important everyone knows what she's like. Supporter Ownership/Involvement is on the cards. If its going to work, it needs the club to listen to the fans.

Nope. Do you like getting slagged off behind yer back?

Leeann, I post this not as an official view from the Trust, but as an individual who has devoted a lot of my personal time to the organisation and the club. I'll tell you honestly and openly why I don't favour the groups merging. The first meeting of the SAC, I attended. Your opening gambit was 'this can be as formal or informal as you like, we can have the advisory committee as a formal group with Terms of Refference or we can have it as an informal group with people coming and going dependant on their personal time'. Under your left hand was a document Motherwell Supporters Advisory Committie Terms of Refference. Therein lies the rub; it was always going to be a formal group that sings to your tune. That in my opinion is both a waste of time and will never be representative of the Motherwell support. Do I support the statement? Nah. The SAC are a group of people that work in the background, with no elections or the likes. They don't need to put out statements every other week to keep their members happy (coz they don't have any). The've asked for an opinion and taken an undeserved slagging for it. Am I glad the statement was posted? Over the bloody moon. Why? Because its made me see your true colours. You've been on the phone to my successor this week basically slagging me and Martin Rose off. You've said you've been reluctant to deal with the Trust in the past as you've not had faith in the individual's running the organisation. So that explains why everytime I used to call you, the call was dingied and not returned. That explains why the only times you called me were when you wanted something. Like the 5 grand in our bank account? Oh and that brings me nicely to my next point. Shares. Did you, or did you not, on several occasions promise me that you were getting the shares owed to the Trust from John Boyle transferred? All of a sudden, John Boyle knows nothing about the shares getting transferred. No, you'd never spoken to him and were basically trying to hoodwink me and the Trust board into handing over 5k ring fenced for Share purchases. Did you call me up and ask if you could use the Trust as a vehicle to dispose of Boyles shareholding? Yes you did. Then, without consultation, the Well Society emerges. I spoke to Derek Weir on this and he said that the way you handled this was poor. Derek gave me a good explanation as to why the Trust could not be used. My concern but is that you'll not put the wheels in motion for any Supporter ownership unless it suits you personally. This unfortunate incident has brought your true colours to the fore. You don't respond to calls or emails from the Trust. You have a selective memory and fabricate the truth surrounding our dealings. But then your on a message board sticking up for your puppet in the blink of an eye. Probably because it suits you. Leeann, I'll be honest and say that the 2nd year of my position as Trust chair was poor; largely due to work commitments. You knew this but so I would have expected you to accommodate this. The Trust and Association are independent. I would support these groups merging. I would not however favour a merger with the SAC as you clearly call the shots on their dealings. I'll give you this. You've done more good for the club than previous job holders. Your ideas are a breath of fresh air and your definitely pushing us in the right direction. A football club but for me is a bit like a large social club. It's not a big business and it relies completely on supporters sticking their hands in their pockets. To that end, supporters deserve to be listen to, something you appear to be incapable of. I hate washing my dirty linen in public, but I don't take well to being slagged off behind my back.

Too far. Hammell is a ledge but is in no-way international class. Havin a great season just now, but too late in his career to warrant call-ups

Random question. How does fitba insurance work? We hear sometimes of insurance paying out for players wages if they get crocked, but how long do they have to get crocked fur tae pay out? We will certainly get crocks through the season, even just fur a couple of weeks; might the insurance pay oot? Hughes will come cheap! He stays in Motherwell and his family were homesick. Killie, St Mirren etc ain't exactly dripping with cash to add Squad players or automatic picks. Even if we just got him on a Payed as you Play deal, he would be a great signing. Only teams I think would want and could afford on decent terms would be Hibs and Sheep
-
Disagree there. Live fitba IS an event when there is a bit of ATMOSPHERE. It's infectious. You go tae a game, a bit of patter and a bit of singing. If the performance on the park is good to boot, then you've the perfect recipe. Some of the away games this season have been class; the two elements rub off on each other. For me it goes back to how the fans are treated, can they stand up, sing and mibbie even have a bevvy.

That's where your wrong, he thinks his natural position is CM. Our last 3 managers have all played him at Right Back, so I think it's clear to see his natural position is right back and his performances back that up.
-
Brammer! He's scouse and he's fu kin hard He's fond of a deliberate red card
-
From a Scotland perspective, if keeping nay-neck-nay-talent Forrest away from the team it wid be good for the National team. I think McFadden has played out his career and his press dealings with enough decorum to avoid the majority of fans geein him pelters. Although he will never save the world again!

Hughes, faddy, sol Campbell and Bakayoko are all free agents. Don't expect to see any of them signing on for any clubs tonight coz they don't need to.
-
I heard we are trying to sign an Ivory Coast international. Embdy got any ideas?

Moving on to leading own-goal scorers, Alister Campbell reckons Terry Butcher scored six own goals while at Rangers, equalling Carragher's total for Liverpool. Ben Wright informs us that Richard Dunne and Frank Sinclair have each scored six own goals in the Premier League, but these have been spread between spells at several clubs. All, however, are eclipsed by Everton's Billy Balmer. "At the turn of the 20th century he netted eight goals during open play; all, unfortunately, at the wrong end of the pitch," writes Gavin Buckland. "In more than 300 appearances for the Toffees his only goal at the right end was a single penalty in 1899."

And we always get the Old Firm at Christmas
-
Context The wee guy that got chibbed oot looked to me like he was greetin. I suspect he was a young wean that has been brought up thinking calling them H uns is acceptable. I can understand why the coppers and stewards want to stamp it out (and need to stamp out old firm bigotry). That means they need to enforce it with everybody. Two problems I've got. The No Surrender flags; get them taken doon as well then if we're playing fair. The wee lad; he was clearly taken doon a peg or three. If I was the powers that be, I would have pulled him oot, gave him a talking to and maybe punted him down the other end of the stand fur a bit. No place for the bigotry on both sides; but Equal treatment fur both if they are clamping down or it makes a mockery

Just get a dj in that will play something different each week and keep up wae the times and no play gantin tunes! No need fur ye tae 'start a discussion'... It's been started fur ye!

Yer right KM - All of the above and trying to progress forward on the clubs community objectives and by the sounds of it covering a couple of other Back room jobs for people who have left the club

My view is that in most seasons, the Old Firm will defeat each team 4 times each. I.e. 8 losses for each team or 24 points of a gap almost automatically. Perhaps that may be a simplistic view, but few would disagree that most teams will lose as a minimum the 4 away games, i.e. 12 points. Then they would probably manage to escape the home games with a net draw. This goes for the team that finishes 3rd in the table I'm afraid too. In a 10 or 12 team division, there is little gap in quality between 3rd and 12th. Expanding the division would have a three fold benefit... Less games against the Old Firm would give any club on a decent chance of being closer to them by virtue of the fact they play them less. This would mean in the seasons a club manages to take points off of the Old Firm, and put up a decent fight against everyone else; they will be in with a shout. Secondly, with a bigger gap between 3rd and 16th, you would find the 3rd placed team better placed to go on a run that will take them closer to the Old Firm. Third, finally and perhaps most importantly; playing each other twice rather than 3 or 4 times per season would enhance the tactical side of the game. The clubs are all too familiar with each other right now and you rarely see a manager in the SPL outsmart another with their tactics, observations and team set-up. Combine that with the idea presented of a 16 team, 30 game season, with a title play-off or split with another 8 games and your onto a winner. If a team was in touching distance of the Old Firm when they come to the end of the season, the games against them take on a new meaning and by default become more exciting for the fans, the telly and the players would get properly pumped up and give it a better go. As I mentioned. The 10 team does appear better than the status quo of the 12. I'm just annoyed that there appears to have been no open debate on variations of a 16 with a play-off or a straight 18 or 20. Instead we are told increasing the number of teams will reduce revenue which, in my opinion, is selective lying by the SPL. Again tonight we hear Doncaster reiterating that a 16 will cost clubs £1m each. This is true if you take a 16 team in isolation with no Play Off at the top and bottom. Add that in and I firmly believe there is a viable alternative that will inspire the fans that will not cost £1m and may increase gates on the whole.
-
Just to try and level his (their) view on this. TV revenues could increase if the division becomes more competitive. The view they paint is that with a tight division, a team in 6th place could be playing right up to the final day with a chance of Europa or Relegation. This would lead to an increase in people coming through the gate and TV companies said they would pay more for the Play-Offs. I actually agree to a point on this... the gates would go up at the end of the season if the teams are involved in something meaningful. My worry is but that less people will buy a season ticket and go to less games... Net loss as far as I am concerned.

Gordon Young backed up the idea at the panel night for one. U21 players are put on the bench to make up numbers with no intention of playing them. Instead, they should be put into a Colt team playing against men in competitive football, rather than playing bounce games.

Only thing I'll throw in about Doncaster and the Old Firm... I don't think he has any soft spot for them and I also don't think either Old Firm club would be against a bigger set-up... so long as the revenue they get stays the same or improves so they can perform in Europe. They ain't interested what shite we line up against them... By the way, the figures quoted earlier are correct... QUOTE (steelboy @ Jan 5 2011, 11:57 PM) that's not true. right now the split works like this. 1 - 4% + 13% = 17%2.21m 2 - 4% + 11% = 15%1.95m 3 - 4% + 5.5% = 9.5%1.235m 4 - 4% + 4.5% = 8.5%1.105m 5 - 4% + 4.0% = 8.0%1.04m 6 - 4% + 3.5% = 7.5%0.975 7 - 4% + 3.0% = 7.0% 0.91m 8 - 4% + 2.5% = 6.5% 0.845m 9 - 4% + 2.0% = 6.0% 0.78m 10 - 4% + 1.5% = 5.5% 0.715 11 - 4% + 1.0% = 5.0% 0.65m 12 - 4% + 0.5% = 4.5% 0.585m not fair but not as bad as your making out.
