Good poll but it would have been useful to split voters into those who currently have seasons and those who don't. Some might never have had one and don't intend to start next year.

If we were going to start with that side we'd have to play the long ball and cut midfield out. No pace or creativity whatsoever there. Keith Lasley would hold the middle no problem against anything the Accies could throw at us but he's not the fastest guy in the world and he couldn't rely on the other two to do that.

I hope you're right about not getting relegated. Why single out Bob Malcolm though? Last night he was no worse than another half dozen players I could mention.

I agree with most that. Maybe Jim O'Brien is due a chance to prove himself though. He was brought on last night in the second half when the game was pretty much lost and our heads were down. Not the best stage on which to perform. If he proves not to be up to it then fine, but lads like McGarry are chosen week in week out and still don't perform. Like McGarry though he's played on the wrong wing. We might have a bit of talent in the squad but I'm not at all confident we're cut out for a fight.

What exactly are you saying? Not the best thought out post I've read on these forums. Are you implying I'm not allowed an opinion?

Aye a definite lack of urgency and fight and that's hard to accept. It doesn't help though when we've no leader on the pitch.

That just about sums up tonight's performance and that of our previous run of games. Its time for our manager to manage. Too many wrong decisions before the game. Steven Saunders was passable for his first full game and Keith Lasley was an absolute stand out. Does this guy ever play badly?

A bit rough and ready, but I'll tell you what he's no central defender. Full back perhaps.

Unless we play a winger who can give John Sutton decent service then he's best sitting it out unless we're pushing for a late goal. Keith Lasley must remain in midfield for me with either Steven Saunders/Big Bob or Marios Klimpl playing at right back. If we play Davie Clarkson or Jamie Murphy it has to be up front and not out wide.

He doesn't mention the word "burgh" of course and as far as I know you haven't gone blind. I stand corrected about the historical status of Motherwell and thanks for that. For much of its history though it has been connected to Wishaw. But in effect Motherwell was and is the same settlement as Wishaw, albeit with its own identity. Its part of a continuous urban area which also includes the likes of Craigneuk, Cambusnethan and Newarthill. The area's development is similar, in some ways, to that of Glasgow which grew and absorbed villages like Partick. On the east coast, we don't normally confine Hibs' influence purely to the port of Leith which to all intents and purposes is part of Edinburgh. In the late 19th century Leith had a population of about 55,000 and I doubt if it has changed much since then given that it is surrounded by Edinburgh. In short, my point is that you can't use artificial and outdated boundaries and relate them to football teams. The article also fails to take into account the catchment areas of football teams.

This article falls at the first hurdle sad to say. The author should really have acquainted himself with the geography of Lanarkshire before putting pen to paper. Motherwell was never a burgh in its own right but was only ever one along with Wishaw. Combined, they had/have a population larger than similar former burghs like Hamilton, Kilmarnock, Ayr and Kirkcaldy. 0/10 Mr Fisher.

We all know he's been very busy with a number of fish to fry but perhaps its time to hold him to that commitment. Time to do your bit Flow!

Personally I wouldn't part with Coach or Ports in the January window. We'd get a pittance for Ports anyway and I have faith in Paul Quinn. He is capable of much, much better as he's proved. In some ways he's been his own worst enemy but he's had horrible luck these past 12 months and been badly managed by Mark McGhee. Steve Hammell on the other hand is as good as he's going to get and probably peaked about 3/4 years ago. In short though I agree we need to add to the squad starting with the defence.

We might also get something for Steve Hammell if we were to tout him around. That would boost our transfer funds would it not? He's had a poor season.
