Been thinking about this too. I think if you look at the non old firm teams that do well, or look back to our finishing 2nd or 3rd years or our 2 cup finals with Robbo.......we weren't exactly a football team. Kick rush, win the 2nd ball, swarm all over teams, score from punts into the box, win the 2nd ball and win the 2nd ball again. I think foreign coaches come here and try to bring in a different type of football....with possession, movement, positioning, supporting the player with the ball, and our players just can't carry it off that well. It'll work against some teams, but generally you'll come up against the hard fighting 2nd ball winners like killie or st mirren who will just bulldoze you. There's no four year development period for foreign managers introducing a new football ethos across a clubs ranks and levels. You're oot on your hole in 6 months if the results don't keep you competing for top 6 at least. These managers then have to sacrifice their 'football ethics' to survive.

This. i thought Wilson looked good at the start of the season. Very strong in the tackle and did well going forward. Not sure what's happened with him.

Agree to a certain extent but he does have a tendency not to see anyone when he takes the ball forward and just run into defenders.

Just back from 2 weeks in Tenerife. Had the pleasure of the 2nd StJ and Tims games while there. I contacted the press to say I was ruling myself out of the managers job, but it must have been in the papers before I got home cause I never saw any mention.

I see from the BBC that St Mirren are having an 'unforgettable' season. Shame we're having a totally shite disaster of a season with relegation looming. If only we were up there with them. Hopefully the new manager can get us up the league to compete with the likes of them.

So who are your two central defenders in this back four then ? One can only assume that it's any two out of Casey, Gordon, Balmer and Blaney. I'd love to hear how you think having fewer defenders on the park will stop us losing goals.

Quite, I might be remembering this wrongly, but the season we finished 2nd, did we not take all our points from bottom six sides and basically lose to everyone in the tops six, then after the split I think we won one and got that shitfest draw at pittodrie. There were plenty on here greetin' about how shite we were then too.
