Home to Thistle in the next round please ๐

I couldn't watch the game today for some unknown reason, but if one was to look at the BBC stats.....60% possession, 15 shots on goal, 7 on target, 13 corners, you could be forgiven for surmising it was an exciting performance with loads of goalmouth action. I'm guessing from the tone on here, that wasn't the case ?

Thanks. Not working for me.....
-
Any 'stick people' getting this one ? I'm not !!
-
Aye, it actually said it in the facebook and X post and I missed it ๐

Deleted. Old Person Memory Issues......

I believe we missed out on the signing of young Indian striker Ghupta Singh......

And Andy Dornan was nowhere near among the worst right backs we've had over the years.

Mostly agree although I'd dispute that he made us better. (I know we finished a place higher under him, but that was more down to Celtic being even worse than the previous season) All the changes he introduced made us worse and he would end up reverting to TM's formation from the previous year. Some of his early decisions, like buying a 3rd rate left winger to get in the way of the best attacking left back in the country were just typical of the stupid shit that he did. TM had us as ,a very solid 5-3-2 / 3-5-2 with everyone playing in their natural positions. Eddie May at right back, Andy Roddie anywhere near the stadium were just two examples of what a dick McLeish was. Sorry for ranting, but I do hate the c**t with a passion ๐

Willie McLean for his first season in the ten team league where he created a team that really should have won things. Davey Hay for the difference he made to a team destroyed by Ally McLeod. You went to games betting on how many you'd win by, not worrying if you'd win or not. As YT said, shame he thought he was bigger. Tommy McLean for leaving a newly promoted club to come back down a rung to us, taking us back and building us into (during many difficult years financially) what was a cup winning side and, in his last season, a great team filled with real players. I really wish Tommy could have stayed another 10 years. Can you imagine what he could have done with the money that the ginger fuckwit wasted over his tenure ? McLeish had a financial backing that wee Tam could only have dreamed of, and turned us from contenders to relegation fodder in 2 1/2 seasons. To me McLeish was the worst manager we ever had when you look at his tenure as a whole. (And I was there for Wallace and McLeod)

This is part of the problem with these 'all time best team' things. I know I'm old (and there are a few older than me) so, for example, i'd have probably three keepers, Joe Wark, Tom Boyd and Rab McKinnon all at left back. I'd have at least two right backs, six central defenders, nine in midfield and about six centre forwards. If you try to bring it down to eleven, then great players have to get left out.
-
Must be an old age thing. I don't ever remember him playing centrally.
-
Given it will take around 4 years to actually receive it in full, I'd say tht somewhat limits the options.
-
Playing a right back as part of your central defence. Is your real name S.Kettlewell ????

I've got this feeling, based on absolutely nothing at all, that the reason we're kinda stuck with the Miller transfer is that the offers aren't anything like what a lot of the fans think we're going to get. The time this is taking is around the club 'minimising the damage' with the fine detail of the transfer. Basically, I think the club is in a difficult position here. Miller can go and sign for whoever he likes in less than a year and every club that's looking at him knows that. The alternatives the cub has are to take an offer that doesn't reach our valuation or let him go for circa ยฃ340K at the end of the season. Doesn't leave much negotiating room. I'm not blaming the club here, because in the Bosman era, every player and every club knows the position and can 'wait it out' saving the buying club potentially millions and possibly putting millions into the pocket of the player. As I said, not based on any knowledge or facts, just what's 'in my head'.
-
That didn't look good there for Johnny K. (and clearly now, it isn't).
-
I've been around too long to contribute to an all time team. I notice none of the 'older' posters seem to have included Vic Davidson, who I reckon must be one of the best footballers I've ever seen. Left backs, we've had Wark, Mckinnon and (unfortunately) Boyd......the Hammels and the McMillan's of the world couldn't have touched these three. There's just too many to make a 'team' out of, without leaving great players out.
-
I'm sure some poster on here recently said 'he'd heard that the injuries were down to Kettlewell'. Did we bring him back in for a special training session ?
-
2nd. Remember, you heard it here first.
-
Maybe Lennon Miller will become the new Cammy Fraser (if anyone on here is old enough to remember the OAE long running gag)
-
Not as much as I should have but there were a lot of unhappy faces when I arrived at eight. You can either blame my arrival or the footie result ๐

I really shouldn't be surprised at some of the journo-language in the post match analysis of yesterday but 'Rangers were held to a draw at Motherwell' is one phrase that's particularly irking me today. It should really say 'Rangers can consider themselves lucky to have gained a point at Motherwell'.
-
That was an excellent display against potentially the 2nd best team in the league. Some of the playing out was hairy but when it worked, it worked well. If we keep that up and get better at it we should be a hard team to beat. First half not as good but I still thought when we played first half it was good when it worked. We restricted them to very few clear cut chances and had a multitude of 'nearly chances' ourselves. A sharp striker could have seen us winning that by a couple ! Lets hope we can keep it up.

Yup, thats where I'll be
