Watt, as well as his goals, was pretty much our only mechanism for keeping possession and getting the ball and men forward, Without that, we're under even more pressure than we were in the first half of the season.

They were bang average, but did you see how many times Watt got them up the park by controlling the ball that came to him and drawing a foul or holding the ball up until the rest caught up ? Strangely enough, exactly the same as he did for us in the first half of the season, which allowed us to win games we otherwise had been shite in. Alexander's players/team selections/signings were every bit as shite in the first half of the season as they are now. Difference is, we nabbed a few wins we probably didn't deserve on either balance of play or chances. Our form for 4 months now has been worse than relegation standard.

(I'd wanted us to play 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield, Tierney at the point. Only thing is, unavailability has changed the 11 i'd have used, but with what's there, i'd have had O'hara in for Cornelius)

Agree 100% with this. Ojala, while a good footballer, looks unfit and appears to be made of cookie dough. Solholm gets away with it because of his megaphone moment, and Mugabe is prone to his bombscare moments, although he is much improved. Lamie has been better than any of them this season.

I really don't think it's a matter of fans (and I include myself in this) being unhappy that we made top six. What I can't get my head around is that people seem to think there is a choice to be mde between playing decent fitba' and losing and playing shite fitba' and winning. Do you seriously think that over the course of a season, playing five defenders, two midfielders and three up front, pumping the ball back to front and trying to defend on the odd occasion we score would win us games ? In the first half of the season, at times we may not have looked great (or even good) but we won games and got the bulk of our points with a midfield on the park that sometimes saw the ball. What does everyone consider our best performance of the season ? For me, it was against Hearts, where we pressed high and passed the ball. If we can do that against the 3rd best team in the league, we can do it against Ross County and Livingston. After Watt left, Alexander went into this spiral of stupid formations (especially in the cup against Hibs), chopping and changing defenders etc. The way some people are describing our 'top six success' you would think that not winning for three months and playing hoofball was a necessary component of that success. If we played our best players in their best positions, against the majority of the SPL, we'd be better than them. Not making stupid formation changes and using the ball properly would have got us top six a lot sooner. Box to box punts for 90 mins died along with Airdrie.

Three men against one there and we had to foul him to stop him getting away with the ball. Fucking pathetic.
