Strange old season, from taking Hearts apart in the second game, winning the next two (while not playing that well in long periods of these two but still getting the results) the season ahead looked pretty bright, then the wheels came off. Did enough later on to stay up and even have a couple of week flirt with top six and of course the long awaited beating of Rangers, you could call it a season of highs and lows with just a few too many lows. The one thing that didn't happen this time round, was the players downing tools when things went bad. The effort and togetherness was always there and these draws during the bad run helped a lot in keeping us up.
Ive been supporting Motherwell since about 1972 and nothing surprises me any more really. We'll have good years and bad years. A lot of people forget that we flirted with relegation for 3/4 of the 90/91 season.
Hopefully we can do good business this summer, but every year it gets harder for the teams with the smaller budgets to compete and spending what you don't have is a recipe for oblivion, despite what the 'show some ambition' brigade seem to think. It's a crap cliche but it is a rollercoaster. Next season we might be brilliant or we might be shite, or, more likely, we'll be somewhere in between.
