Scottish Premiership Motherwell V St Johnstone Sat 18 Mar 15:00
si91 replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Having watched the highlights last night, I'd be looking at the crosses being launched into the box (both from the lady hand side) before I'm blaming Samson for the goals. Far too often and too easily, are crosses coming in. And this was a criticism from last season as well. -
Will We Qualify For The Next Stage Of The League Cup
si91 replied to middleeastdave's topic in Club Chat
Tend to agree with the last points from Tweed - this competition will only be slightly more important than the glamour friendlies that Celtic are playing, so they may play some fringe players. And following our capitulation there at the end of last season, McGhee and the players should be looking to a much better performance/ result. Again, it'll depend which 'Well turn up -
Not sure if this has been picked up earlier https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/jul/13/iceland-motherwell-lens-where-did-the-thunderclap-originate

I agree that we are in danger of it becoming between us and Killie, and they don't appear to be waiting too long to fill their managerial vacancy - http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35452867

Forever the pessimist - until it's absolutely mathematically certain that we can't finish either 11th or 12th, I'll keep looking over my shoulder

It is congested and a win at Thistle would make it even more interesting, most definitely onwards and upwards
-
The other thing to consider around Simo & his record - Solskjaer (sp?) had a brilliant record before coming to the EPL & it didn't work out for him. As someone mentioned earlier - all appointments have an element of risk, we just need to try & reduce that risk
-
never had the chance to see him play but in recent years he was a fixture at the ex-players dinner and any time i encountered him there, he was a true gent - RIP Joe
-
They say you should never go back, but I'd invite him back - he'd be better than some of our strike options http://m.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/13791358.Frustrated_Lee_Erwin_ready_for_Leeds_United_loan_move_after_switch_from_Motherwell/ Could we afford him?

Would Billy Dodds not be a stumbling block to McIntyre returning to United? Was he not there before and left under a cloud?

Good to see what the club's own ambitions are http://m.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/13365863.Well_owner_targets_top_six_and_cup_triumph_next_term/

Motherwell V The Rangers Spfl Playoff Final 2Nd Leg 31/05/15

Thought the same myself - selective blindness perhaps?? -
^^+1 Just beat me to it

Got to echo these thoughts as well. It's also refreshing to hear positive comments from a manager too. I liked McCall but a flaw in his manner was his, at times, negative outlook in certain games. Hopefully this positive attitude also rubs off on the players.

Can't see shout box on my phone, so apologies if it's there already. Caught a bit of Chick Young on the radio with a board member, didn't catch a name, talking about manager situation. Suggestion was made that Kenny Black would be an assistant to someone else & not the manager in his own right.

So if we're in fan ownership by the end of November, will fans be polled to see who gets the job? If not, how will the new man be selected?
-
As I said Steelboy, not how I want my club run & hopefully the sensible members who make up our board consider the lessons of history, especially ones that close to home

Seem to recall a deal at Airdrie/ Livingston a few years ago now involving Stevie Archibald & loads of Spanish players. He made his money showcasing talent & selling them on - a winger to Dundee Utd then Celtic (Fernandez?) & the keeper who ended up at Celtic (Sanchez?). It has been done but not how I want my club run, thanks very much

Just posted similar on the thread about goals on Sunday. We do have a knack of things landing positively for us at times
-
6 month contract for McGhee? We were the fittest we've ever been under McGhee and played some fab football. He also played players where they should be played, if memory serves
-
So with all the injuries at the mo, are we perhaps now suffering most from John Porteous's departure? He was seen to be a genius at getting injured players back & keeping players free from injuries.
-
I suppose they're too different kinds of players - I'm not sure Faddy would be classed as an out-&-out centre forward, while Goodwillie isn't exactly the creative type. Would I swap Sutton of last year or Higgy of 2 years back with Goodwillie of the same periods? No chance but Goodwillie from the early days was certainly a talent. As mentioned before, yet another waster of his talent

Just heard McInnes moan about free kicks & cheating (mibbee not the cheating!). Does he not remember Anderson's handball back at the 'Ark?? GIRFUY, manager of the year. The man has no class!
-
The away strip would be fine by me. The band on the home strip was white & black, so not sure what we would have, claret & white on an amber strip?
-
Always good to see our club get some recognition, especially after all the love for McInnes & McNamara. Good read as well m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/26808307
