  1. Sounds like he's really had a good look at himself and decided its now or never. He's still young with good pace and a trick or two. Hopefully he'll continue to improve and become a `first name on the teamsheet` type player. Good man management by McGhee.
  2. I'd like to throw a name into the pot. Bob Harris the young QOS left back is being watched by a few Premier clubs including, I am led to believe Motherwell. He had a great season last year and has been a standout within their team. He has just come back from an injury. 21yr, quick and strong in the tackle. Most of the lads I work with are QOS supporters and know the club.
  3. Porter, Clarkson for the rest of his career (A Motherwell man) then Klimpl before Hughes for me. (Even in a hand full of games, I've seen enough of Klimpl to suggest Scottish football has a new hardman who can also play a bit).
  4. I get the feeling that Smith has already told Motherwell that he will leave in the summer and McGhee has made his choice for Motherwell's next keeper. If money is as tight as it seems, it seems like good business to capture a young, tall keeper within our wage budget. Looks like the boy needs a new challenge to help kickstart his career. I don't know many Inverness fans (four) but those I've spoken to say he's not as bad as some seem to be making out and they thought his problem was with the manager. McGhee has obviously spoken to his goalkeeping coaches and scouts and liked what he heard. Hasn't he? . Now that the Motherwell train is back on the rails and the defence seems like a unit again, do we still need to strengthen at the back. Because if we don't and........... The one drawback regarding our sudden solidity at the back (Klimpl's role as much as Craigan's return) is that McGhee might think that we are fine again and decide not to bring in some competition for places. With Brewster gone I hope McGhee goes back to Inverness and offers Malcolm again (loan/exchange until the end of the season). How do people see Hughes' future at the club?
  5. Thanks Foghorn. Just seen the pictures. Game on as you say.
  6. Thankyou Juan Kerse. Shall just have to keep an ear out.....and hope.
  7. Anyone help? I'm travelling up to the game from Manchester - leaving around 3pm. What time is the pitch inspection on an evening game. Will an anouncement be made on whether the game is going ahead or not before 3/4pm. Posts seem to be mixed concerning the state of the pitch. Sounds positive reading most of your posts, but I have been stung with late call off's before. Any help much appreciated.
  8. The comments about the full backs (Quinn/Hammell) being caught out of position, weak in the tackle are for me spot on. This is causing a great deal of the uncertainty in the centre. Because there is so little pace within the team mistakes/slips are being punished. If were not going to sign/loan better full backs then expect more of the same. My own opinion is move Hammell up to LM and move Quinn on. Someone said Klimpl looked more like a DM than a central defender. I agree so BM should be shown the door. Allong with Hughes, their combined wages would surely allow McGhee to replace them with players of equal talent but more committed players. I don't like thinking about how we would replace Porter if he left.

    Season 09/10

I don't have a season ticket this year as I only get to around half the home games. This is due to work commitments mainly. Next year might be different. It seems there are lots of fans who will stand by Motherwell whatever but the real frustration seems to me to be that regular visiters to Fir Park have virtually no say in matters concerning MFC. It would be interesting to see how many fans would be willing to buy a share in the club if say 50% ownership was offered by JB to the fans. I would guess most season ticket holders at present would definately be tempted and I know a few less frequent visitors including myself, would like the opportunity. What would be wrong with say a grand a share (for want of a better word) and no one individual could own more than five shares. Now I'm not flush myself but instead of taking the kids on big holidays for a couple of years, I would try to find the money to buy both my sons a share each. Adults and kids who own a stake/shares could then perhaps enjoy half-priced season tickets (adults) for ten years and the kids (up to 18) free for five. After the set time shareholders return to paying full ST prices but now also have a say in what that price it is. If only 2000 took up the offer it would still raise 2M and if Boyle matched it MFC could move forward. The fans would at last, have their opportunity to help run the club. Feel free to tear it to pieces but would anyone be interested in something like this?
  10. Considering the current economic climate, should McGhee ask to have his January transfer war-chest in Pounds or Euro's. Cash signings or more 1 yr/loans?

    Maroš Klimpl

Tiz the season to be jolly... here's hoping
  12. Thanks for that. Perhaps he should be left to concentrate on playing and someone should be brought in if its not one of McGhee's strengths
  13. The defence is going to ensure were in for a relegation battle. I do hope MM doesn't think Kimpl will solve the defensive problem on his own. Can anyone tell me who coaches the defence at training. The team badly needs some pace.

I don't go to many away games but I have decided I'm going to `the derby`. It will be 10 years to the day my grandfather died and it was he who indirectly made me a Well fan. He took me to watch Hamilton - Motherwell 79-80 with the intention of making me a Accies fan like him. RIP Archie. C'mon the Well.

Neil I understand what your saying but my comments are about a missed opportunity and as the manager he takes any blame if thats what its called. There was the chance to strengthen a good team, increase the profile of the club, entice more fans through the turnstiles and still stay within our means. What did MM do? And its because I've watched and waited a long time for the club to start being ambitious (sensible though) again.

I'd like to add another gripe I have with MM. The team's needed some pace and strength for a long time, but nada... His inability to recognise weaknesses in the team and address them is worrying.
