I think what you say is fair and reasonable and I too always felt he had a limit on his football ability. However, I always felt he made the most of the attributes he did have and always worked his socks off when he played for us. I always felt he would be best used as a defence protecting midfielder, operating in the spaces between defence and midfield. And like you, I’d have him back.

Be interesting to see how Alan Campbell does against us.

Totally agree Grizzly. He’s one of those rare players who has a consistently reliable level of performance. He reminds me very much of past stalwarts like Joe Wark, Martin ‘Kaiser’ Corrigan and Brian ‘Buff’ Martin. Unfortunately he’s out for 4 months after a thigh op and he’s approaching 35, an age at which it gets increasingly harder to recover from injury.

I think perhaps St.Johnstone may be too far behind to avoid automatic relegation and St. Mirren and Hearts have too much about them to be drawn into a scrap for the play-off spot. That would leave ourselves, Ross County and Dundee as the ones involved in that and I think the next few games will go a long way to decide who will end up there. If we do end up in the play-off spot then it’s likely we’d have to play either Ayr Utd or Livingston. Not a prospect to look forward to.
