It’s on occasions like this that show the poor standards in our top league. Yes, it’s a very windy day so that dictates a passing game with the ball on the ground BUT no team is set up to play that way. They are all set up for hoofball due to a complete dearth of skill.
Team selection as follows:
Goalkeeper - A. Oxborough
All other positions - Names to be drawn from an old hat or one of Kettlewell’s tracksuit jacket pockets.
Really couldn’t give a flying f*ck right now. We are being managed by a guy whose mentality seems to be “we’ve got a point before we start so don’t take any risks and we’ll have a point at the end”.
The football being produced under this guy is horrendous to watch.
We’ve played them 4 times in the cup at Perth and won all 4 with 10 goals for and 3 against. Unless we smarten-up I doubt we’ll get it to 5 wins though!
We’re 2-0 down at home to a side with only one win in 16 games and who away from home have scored 4 and conceded 12.
The question has to be asked of the manager why set-up so defensively at home against such a poor side!
Here is our all-time home league record v the Hibees.
P139 W62 L44 D33
Win 45%
Lose 32%
Draw 23%
My memory may be playing tricks on me but I seem to recall far too many occasions when we’ve played a team on a (long) losing streak we always manage to lose to them.
The bigot bros media lackeys are always moaning about a lack of competition in our top league yet every time a promising young player pops up they immediately start touting for him to go to them.
I just hope young Miller and his dad look past that crap and look further afield for his future. A move to either of the bigot bros would not help his development one little bit as he’d still be playing in exactly the same league as he is with us now.
By my reckoning this will be our 12th League Cup Semi-Final. Details of previous 11 as follows:
1950/51 v Ayr Utd W 4-3
1951/52 v Dundee L 5-1
1954/55 v East Fife W 2-1
1955/56 v St Mirren L 2-0*
1969/70 v St Johnstone L 2-0
1986/87 v Celtic L 5-4 on pens
1987/88 v Rangers L 3-1
2004/05 v Hearts W 3-2 aet
2005/06 v Celtic L 2-1
2010/11 v Rangers L 2-1
2017/18 v Rangers W 2-0
* After 3-3 draw.
Stephen Craigan on radio:-
“Motherwell have been negative, they need to play forward. They need to get it into attacking players more. They have to be braver in the middle of the pitch.”
