An intriguing, if slightly risky appointment from a board I didnāt think had it in them to think outside the box and all credit to them for that and for avoiding the usual suspects whose names appear every time thereās a managerial vacancy. A very warm welcome to our club Michael and wishing you all the very best in your new venture. I hope it wonāt be too much of a culture shock for you. COYW.

Time to bin this thread.

Totally agree Grizzly. Heās one of those rare players who has a consistently reliable level of performance. He reminds me very much of past stalwarts like Joe Wark, Martin āKaiserā Corrigan and Brian āBuffā Martin. Unfortunately heās out for 4 months after a thigh op and heās approaching 35, an age at which it gets increasingly harder to recover from injury.

I think perhaps St.Johnstone may be too far behind to avoid automatic relegation and St. Mirren and Hearts have too much about them to be drawn into a scrap for the play-off spot. That would leave ourselves, Ross County and Dundee as the ones involved in that and I think the next few games will go a long way to decide who will end up there. Good post.

Thatās like owning a house without a roof.

Great post; not! FYI I do not have a problem. However I canāt be arsed getting into a debate with folk that post cryptic drivel.

I fail to see how that could have been worse

What in the name of f*ck does that mean?

If we do end up in the play-off spot then itās likely weād have to play either Ayr Utd or Livingston. Not a prospect to look forward to.

No offence but I sincerely hope you are wrong about Frail. Mind you if itās true that we now have a shortlist of two candidates and that one of them is Temur Ketsbaia then I really do fear for our future.

Iāve been watching us now for more years than I care to remember and have to agree with your sentiment. I feel our club is in poor custodianship right now. Well-meaning people they may, be but utterly lacking in knowledge, skills and know-how as to whatās required to run a professional football club. Where are the changes and the investment that the Well Society were touting about when they railed against the potential US investors? For me itās been downhill ever since and with no sign that anyone at the club has a handle on how to turn things around. The fans are now beginning to vote with their feet as shown by our attendances. Today we had 3,973 (couple of hundred from Dingwall?) and now regularly around that mark. Today Falkirk had just under 7,500 and Raith Rovers had about 3,800!! Poor attendances, a real live possibility of relegation which would lead to a drastic fall in revenues, no investment on the horizon. Sorry for being so negative but I think itās a very bleak outlook for our club.

He should never have been given that option!

Spot on.

Totally agree. Iād like to think that weāll avoid the very bottom as we are still 10 points clear of St. Johnstone but I think weāre now odds-on for the play-off spot.
-
That the nub of it. Far too many poor players in the one squad. I donāt doubt they are all doing their best but the sad truth is they are not cut out for professional football. If there are still any doubters out there that think we wonāt end up going down I trust this display will serve to dispel the doubt.

Weāve had the lions share of possession but created heehaw and we look very vulnerable on the counter. Weāll never break them down playing like this. Far too slow and ponderous in our build-up and playing everything in front of them with no penetration. No contrast up front as Watt and Armstrong are too similar. Iād take Watt off and get Maswanhise on as a foil for Armstrong who seems more mobile and fitter than Watt.

The only smoke will be from the ground-staff burning leaves.

Itās an old cliche and dear knows how many times Iāve used in reference to the Dossers, but this Saturdayās game against Ross County is definitely a must win. Lose, theyād only be 2 points behind us and weād be sucked into a scrap to avoid the play-off spot. Win, weād be 8 points clear of them and that should be enough to guarantee we are not involved in any relegation shenanigans. COYW!

Finishing in the top 6 and maybe getting into Europe are for the birds. The top priority for whoever ends up as manager must be to arrest the current slump and ensure we stay out of the dogfight thatās developing below us.
-
As per the OF usual modus operandi, theyāll be trying to get him by offering the least amount they think they can get away with. Tell them the asking price starts at Ā£4M cash; no player swaps or instalment crap and that itās non-negotiable!
-
It would help if we had a midfield! Sure the defence isnāt great but they get zero help from the midfield, which should be our first line of defence when the opposition have the ball. I donāt think central defenders should be asked to make tackles 30 yards from their own goal. That task falls to the midfield players but far too often they just funnel back on top of the defenders offering no or little protection.
-
It is, but itās not helped by having no midfield to try and stop them being continually swamped.
