Think that's our only hope. I mind reading that he was looking to settle at a club for a wee while, he's only young and has been all over europe so he reckons consistency will do his game good. I seriously think we're in with a shout.
-
Didn't notice it at the time but Laws goal is an absolute peach.
-
Could be two different scenarios here. 1. We took a punt on an unknown and can barely scrape together the pennies for his modest wage but he's just happy to play first team football. Could get a longer term deal 2. He's was already on the radar of bigger clubs has taken a wage cut to be put in the SPL shop window. Unlikely to get a longer term deal. In his Rancid interview he mentions having to prove himself here, hoping for something to materialise at the end of the season, Motherwell are his first choice.... makes me think it might be first one. Interesting eh.

Best we've played at Fir Park all season. McCall got it spot on with every decision tonight.
-
Right, keep this quiet. He's played less a total of about 150 minutes for us. Scored two, set up two. Looking absolute quality. Only signed till the end of the season though. That is all. Move along.
-
Ojamma to start. Quality.
-
Does that mean the SFA will look into the conduct of 'well fans then?
-
No way will you be wrong. If we're not winning by half time they'll get boo'ed off the park.

I'm mibbe naive here but I think if any manager thought a player was that unfit he wouldn't be at the club, nevermind starting senior games. I've always thought that he must simply be at the peak of his fitness levels, nothing to do with work ethic. That in itself is of course worrying but I still think he can do well in the right system and with a bit of confidence.
-
True. Fir Park is hardly condusive to supporting players who build their game on confidence though. Younger players in particular have got to be allowed to make mistakes and even go on bad runs of form however that chance rarely lasts more than 2 or 3 games here. Some players can hack it, some can't. Some managers pull them through. That's fitba I suppose.

Couldny agree more. We see glimpses of it even when he's having a bad game. Any time he gets a wee bit of space with his left foot he has a go if he's within shooting range, you can see the quality in the movement of the ball as soon as it leaves his foot. Same with his passing ability. If he won't come good with us then I really hope he does with someone else. Wasted talent otherwise. First two I'll give you but that's a pretty hefty accusation to level at the guy. Any reason in particular you think this?

Hurling abuse in the middle of a game is the most counter-productive thing a fan can do. Every single manager will tell you that. Decent minded fans can do something about it though. The pumping at Tynecastle the other week turned into a no bad day out because of the party atmosphere in the 'well end for the last half hour. I don't think the players walked off that park with any false impressions either, they know when they're shite regardless of whether some fanny is taking their own life failings out on them or not. Abuse damages the teams performance. Simple. Fucking bonkers.

Comes with risk though as that the potential to be demoralising if the team have knocked their pan in and still been beaten by a team with ten or twenty times the budget. I don't know what the right approach is but I can see why mccall might play these games down - it protects the players after defeat. Prior to the game I'm sure his approach in the dressing room is conmpletely different. Tough gig.

What did the banner say?
-
Ach well. Hard to judge McCalls tactics when so many players were having individual howlers. Hateley was rotten but I knew he'd do the 90 as our only hope of scoring was from a set piece. Luckily we've put the groundwork in and can afford the occassional pisher like that.

9/10. Well and truly exceeded my expectations. This season in particular is where it all seems to have clicked. Granted we've carried some luck but we've got to be in the right place to get that bit of luck in front of goal and that's what we've been doing. As has been pointed out, his signings have been shrewd considering how tight out budget is. Almost no room for error there and he's done very well. I also think the way he conducts himself is fantastic. Very honest and respectful, there is no front with McCall. Exactly the type of man you'd want in charge when branding the club as 'Scotlands family club'. Only downside was the cup final of course but thats just one of those things. I do however wonder how much the preparation played in things. We lost 20 odd goals in the 5 top 6 games and I wonder whether the chopping and changing unsettled us a bit. There is the chance we'd have picked up injuries to key players if he didnt though so it was a tough call for him. It's maybe a pointless discussion though, unless we have some parallel universe where McCall didn't make those changes we'll never know. Don't want to end on a negative. McCall is in the process of guiding us to our best season for years. We're currently sitting on more points having played less games than McGhee's first season. Outstanding.

Just recieved an e-mail about this. Is that applications to it just started or have they been accepting them for a wee while? I see they are hoping to raise first £250'000 by March. Will they whole idea be chucked if this target isn't met? Given that it's coming christmas I doubt I'll be able to consider joining till at least February/March time. I wonder how many other people are in the same position. If anyone hasn't got it.... The Well Society – Join Now! If she's anyhting like burds I seem to attract she'll fall out with you if you go and she'll fall out with you if you don't go because "you've clearly only done that to make me feel guilty." Mental. Your only hope is to emphasise that it's a very special time of year and thats why you would like to spend a bit of quality time in the afternoon with your beloved father by bonding over your shared passion for Motherwell Football Club. Remind her that it's your commitment to family that makes you so special.

Cheers folks! Aye just looking at a map. Looks about 2 mile walk, easy peasy. I'll see what time I have.
-
Gonnay head in early and do a bit of last minute christmas shopping. Anyone know the best way to get to Tynecastle from princes street area?
-
Ach fuck it, the more midweek games they have to play the more likely it is they'll fuck it up here. I'm still aiming for 2nd place.
-
Nupp, no chance. Definately not. Although you can guarantee if we qualify I'll be straight on the phone after the draw trying to work out some prices.
-
19 games into the season we finished 3rd we had 32 points and were 3 points ahead of the team in 4th (united). 17 games into this season and we have 33 points and are 7 ahead of 4th spot. Well and truly on track.
-
Still far from over but looking good. If the SPL scores stay the same we'll be 5 behind 2nd place with a game in hand. Still a lot of football to be played before were 2 points behind but seriously canny argue with that at this stage of the season.
