I'm not so sure about that. O'Brien has stated a few times that McGhee really helped him mature as a player and changed his whole attitude on the pitch. By the sounds of it took some harsh words from McGhee to take him from playing like a schoolboy (playing for himself and slating anyone who fucked up) to a real team player and it seems Jim is grateful for that. We'd miss him if he went.

Maybe it was a gentlemans agreement that he would at least discuss the job with them, should the position come up in the future and Gannon has turned the job down. Maybe he went down to personally tell them he wasn't interested. Maybe due to him being a relative unknown John Boyle would only offer him a rolling monthly contract and Gannon is looking for some job security. All of that is complete speculation but I don't think we know enough about the situation to make judgements either way.

Good stuff. Well done Lads. Whens the game?
-
I was in the queue outside when the minutes silence started. Really wish someone had let us all know because folk did quieten down about 30 seconds in once we realised what was going on.
-
I think he's as good a keeper as any we could hope to have as back up.
-
No one was particularly outstanding and no one was particularly terrible. Some good moments from everyone and some dodgy ones too. Voted for Duke. Thought he was strong, won a lot in the air and linked up well with the midfield.
-
Ruddy injured his groin warming up for the Hearts game so he's resting it. If I remember correctly (and the bbc have their facts right) Yass has pulled his hamstring and Hutchinson took a knock on his already dodgy ankle last week.
-
That thought crossed my mind too but it there was a lot of pace behind the ball. Need to see it again but it's difficult to say if Ruddy would have done any better.
-
Mibbe his dinner was out. It'll be cold by the time he gets to stockport mind you.
-
Can't really expect perfect defensive displays when we were Missing Hammell, Moutouakil, Hutchinson and Ruddy.
-
I think we'll need to accept there is always going to be speculation around Jim Gammon, much like there is with any decent manager. Just need to take it as a compliment.
-
I'm sure Craigan said on talksport a few weeks ago that he's doing his coaching badges just now. Obviously planning for the future, I'd love to see him stay at Fir Park in some capacity. Seems like a good guy to have around.

Aye fuck it the Duke deserves it for his performances over the coming month. Just you wait and see. Well done to the both. With Gannon in charge it's an exciting time to be a 'well fan.

Cheers for that Maverick, just downloaded it from yer link. Not a bad effort for a Celtic fan.

Looking for an mp3 of the Phil song. Anyone got a link or can email it to me? The guys myspace has been deleted.

That's a blatant aknowldgement that a portion of the Celtic support are disrespectful wankers with no understanding of what remembrance day actually commemorates. The "Celtic Way" is nothing more than a tactic to avoid the club being shown up by these numpties and I really wish someone at parkheed would admit that.

Van der gaag freekick to avoid relegation. winner in the dolan goalie celtic game. Both goals against aberdeen to secure europe. how about Ross forbes against stauea? After the way we had been playing that goal instilled real belief that we were gonna beat them.

Why Forbes big head?
-
Claret and white is much easier to read from a distance. Looked good from POD but was kinda hard to make out across the seats. Big poles would do the job. What about tent poles? Easy to put up and take down if you get a wee seam thing on attached to the flag.

Forbes had a quiet game but you've got to admit, if there was is one foot in the entire squad you would hope that a cross would land at, it's Ross Forbes' lefty.

Some insights from andrew westons PressSport twitter.... On reflection,O'Brien did not feel it was a penalty in the first half when he went down.he's desperate to score having not done so this term O'Brien:we bossed the game.had a gameplan & it clicked.draining to play 3 games in a week but happy to be back to winning ways. Forbes was disappointed with his performance and felt flat in the changing room despite scoring a belter!perfectionist!that's 9 goals in 18. Gannon said it was now straight back to the drawing board.he's excited about next week's derby clash already! six shut outs now for Ruddy.he felt something before game.our goalkeepers have been worked hard in training all week. Gannon:we took reigns off Coke and Forbes and they responded.still more to come from Coke.we've fast-tracked youngsters & they've responded. Gannon:we changed our game plan.we've been caught up playing too much in wrong areas.2day we mixed it up well & got ball 2 attackers quicker Gannon:all the players contributed significantly & Sutton led line well.our young defenders r great athletes, they were immense.

Brilliant stuff, doin the Motherwell name proud.
-
I voted for Coke but you are spot on about Jutkiewicz. Him and Sutton were a real handful for the Hearts defence.
-
Jings, you just reminded of that scare near the end when he rolled out to Saunders (I think). I'm absolutely amazed we've yet to concede doing that. Absolutely terrifying fitba to watch at times. All part of the fun though.

Easily the best Motherwell performance since Rangers game. Lot's of good individual performances, Coke, Sutton, Reynolds and Duke all immense. Sutton and Duke won almost everything in the air, held the ball up well and had some nice wee touches here and there (suttons wee flick to set JOB up for the volley was magnificant). Thought Duke in particular showed a lot of composure on the ball and created space for himself quite a few times. Not a perfect performance but we played some really really nice football at times. We were able to mix it up quite and play a variety of balls from the back as our two front men looked settled in in control (mostly). Only dissapointing thing about today is the space we gave Hearts when they had a man sent off. For about 20 minutes we looked like the ones with the man down.
