Is it not impair with an 'i'. The benefits of a decent education
-
It's about time we all gave UNITE a kick in the B0llox. Last company I worked for we all had to take a 5% pay cut for 12 months. Nobody went on strike. If we don't like it we can leave. UNITE = SCUM

Are you sure you don't just want to stand outside behind the goal Done - We will take care of it - none of your funny money though. Cabbies - you never know.... Pm you nearer the time with a meeting place. Ryans the Irish Bar sound like it might be the place to go to b4 the game.

1 year is a dilemna. If he is cack we do not end up in a Michael Fraser saga, but if he comes good then off he walks into the sunset and straight into the Real Madrid 1st team I suspect it will be somewhere in between given his previous clubs and what I saw of him during the bounce game.... Credit to Hammerfist but he HAS to be forever known as GLORIA...
-
Don't get me wrong he looked competent on the ball and reasonably pacy. I am a little bemused that we are looking to sign up 2 possibly 3 of the players that took part on the bounce game. Here's why........ It looked as if a few of the Morrocan boys turned up on the evening. How much research has been done and are there not other possibilities out there. To be fair we have had a number of trialists at the club through the summer. Must be that Paw Broon likes these boys and more importantly they are within our budget.

This is not the wee right back that played in the bouce game? He did OK, but he is a midget - I know I am one to talk. But at one point a cross came over to his side of the field and clear bounced over his head. Not a problem you might think...but the ball was only 5 ft off the ground

How about a wee rendition of U2's Gloria over in Odense
-
Wow after such a long winded thread.beaten only by the sponsorship saga, would it not be rather something if and when he signs. That said I was not overly impressed during the bounce game. I appreciate it is only one game but I thought the no9 in the black kit was more impressive. In addition there were many who did not rate either Lukas or Ports when they 1st came to the club. I can only assume that Paw Broon and Archie have seen something in the lad that was not really on show the other evening.

Good one Bladesman.........

This seems to me like a late replacement. I am quite sure Leanne's original post was referring to the oft quoted charity - Comic/Sports Relief. I can only assume we went with Commsworld because: They offered more money Problems arose with the charity 0r maybe we will work with them in another capacity... One thing is for sure - no-one ever knows - not even the club it would seem

Perhaps not THE biggest in our history. I would say that winning the league and any Scottish Cup final is bigger, but since that has included all of say 10 games over 100+ years, there is a reasonable argument that if we come back from Odense with all to play for then this game will be the most important in the last 20 years and one of THE most important games in the club's history. The financial rewards are mindboggling to a club of Motherwell's stature. Possibly as much as 50% of our annual turnover. Our co-efficient in Europe will be better should we need it again.....Paw Broon would be able to add as many as 3-4 quality loan players/signings that would make all the difference for this league campaign. The positive press here in the UK and around Europe from this tie + the upcoming Europa games would be unparalleled in our history. We might even gain some new fans from such publicity. Either way the return leg has the potential to be ONE of the most important games in Motherwells history.

I think Salim may in fact be Morrocan. Based on a conversation Paw Broon was having on his mobile to their agent prior to the bounce game.

TBH I wish they had kept the prices as they were. That said I do understand that Motherwell need to maximise income and that charging the same for Breidablik as the play off round v Odense makes little financial sense. We need to hope we are still in the game in the 2nd leg. If that is the case I do not see it making a huge difference. If we were god forbid to lose 4-0 in the 1st leg then it will make a difference but then it probably would have if the tickets were still £15. All in all I feel it is still a reasonable price for the Europa Cup play off round. make no mistake if we get to back to Fir park with all to play for this will be arguably the biggest match since the 1991 Sc Cup final. The potential rewards and the positive press of reaching the Europa League proper would be absolutely massive.

The bible was a shorter story than the who is/who isn't our shirt sponsor. I can pretty much guarantee we will know by Xmas.............well possibly

Just back in from the bounce game. Thought Humphrey had a storming 1st half and his goal was a peach. As for the numerous trialists. Only 2 looked half decent: No4 for the Black kit. Centre half looked solid enough. But we are well served in that area. No9 for the Black kit. Salim is his name. Nothing spectacular but was comfortable on the ball and sprayed the ball around well. maybe worth another look. As for Gloria Estaban.........Knew it was too good to be true. Had 2-3 shots on goal with just the goalie to beat. To be fair Randy made good saves, but he never set the heather on fire. Shame really with all the fuss!

We were going to Copenhagen from EDI via LHR but 4 some reason the flight prices spiked on Friday from £227 to over £500, but having checked are now back at around £230.....bizarre Still we took the opportunity to book from ABZ and although slightly more expensive it is at least only 1 direct flight with SAS. 5 of us going, but 3 staying over till the Saturday, so myself and pal coming back on Friday. I live in Edinburgh so will be driving up early on the Thursday to get to Aberdeen airport for around 8.30am.
-
95 mins from Copenhagen to Odense so allowing for time to get off flight and thru passport control, probably 13.30, even if you get a train at 2pm would still get to Odense for around 15.30. Just mean more drinking on the train. Still hope and expect it will be a 7.45pm KO
-
Anyone else flying out of Aberdeen to Copenhagen on the Thursday monring - SAS?
-
As much as I hate to admit Caca is probably right. We WILL be defensive in Odense and they probably/possibly could beat us at Fir Park. That said I do hope Paw Broon sticks this article up on the dressing room wall. The gap between Motherwell and Odense ought not to be as big as the gap between Motherwell and Breidablik. The difference being that we were not so cock sure we would beat the Icelanders. They are clear favourites and they know it. Hopefully we can raise our game and give them a battle over the two games and you just never know..........
-
No it wont Unc Rifle. Motherwell fans know well the reasons why Odense are seeded and we are not. Odense finished runners up in the Danish league, Motherwell finished 5th in the Scottish league. We have a lot of youngsters in our team and although the 3-0 v Aalesund looks good, truth is that if they had a decent striker like Utaka then they probably would have scored. I would say Motherwell have a chance - off course, but probably 65%-35% to Odense. If we can score in Denmark and keep tie alive for back in Scotland then we have a chance. Odense are firm favourites.
-
As I pm'd you. It was done on purpose after the last legit error to wind you up...... You see a public schoolboy education also allows you to be a smart ar#e from time to time
-
OSH - Quick question Are you allowed to take your own beer/drink onto the train or is that not allowed.
-
Never been one to disagree with you - mainly because of your height... But I don't get it. A Ross County win would have meant we would not have had a night like last night, we would not have been able to get 6 games in europe with the potential for 2m+ Euros in the (unlikely) event we qualify for the group stages. These are arguably the most important games we have played since the 1991 and 2005 cup finals. Had a Ross Co win meant nothing to Motherwell then I would have been in full agreement. But it did not. But as you say each to their own.

Too much whiskey................ The CabInn is the place to be. Fairly cheap and functional and gets a decent write up on Trip Advisor: http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-...al_Islands.html Just read above post - no availability Must be hunners of Well fans bunking down. GAME ON.

Whilst Dundee Utd were rightly lauded for finishing 3rd and the media hype surrounding Hibs and Motherwell's fight for 4th. Even back at the end of the season I believed that finishing 5th and qualifying for Europe was probably the best outcome for all 3 teams. Firstly you get 90,000 Euros for each round which almost makes up for the SPL cash for finishing 1 place lower. But most importantly we got to warm up against fairly mediocre opponents in Breidablik. I am quite sure if like Hibs we had our first competitive game v Aalesund we could well have lost. Now we have played 4 games before we play Odense. They are undoubted favourites and should win over the 2 legs, but the fact we have played 4 competitive Euro games will hopefully make up some of the difference in quality between the two teams. Meanwhile DDee Utd get to play AEK Athens in their 1st competitive games. So in summary the Well will have enjoyed 6 Euro games and the associated benefits, both Hibs and possibly DDee Utd will only get 2. Hope I am wrong and DDee Utd win of course but the odds are against them. In summary I think there is a fair argument to want to finish in the lowest Euro qualifying place in the SPL.
