Apart from scoring 5 goals - the chat from Watt has been quality. Very enjoyable.

Shame Hearts will probably decide to keep him based on his performances for us !
-
So far so very average. Struggling to string any passes together and crosses have been bordering on awful.

I believe he has played the magical 26th game and he himself has alluded to it in a Facebook exchange. Never saw it as not on Facebook. But I believe it was when he came on as sub in home game v Livi for all of 5 minutes. I have never explicitly said he was at it. My view is whether the rumours are true or not. If they are then it is and was a dangerous game. He would and likely will get a move away in the summer regardless if he had activated another year on his contract. The other rumour was he renegotiated his contract so that we would retain his appearance money from being in the Euro squad. Well that also looks to be under threat at the moment. Contracts are confidential but it is strange that whilst the fans have been debating and rumourmongering neither Dec or the club have commented to clear up one way or another. If either party were happy or even if not they could say the contract is as was or was renegotiated and both parties are satisfied and we all move on. The fact that has not happened leads me to believe one party or both are not happy !

Well if it is true he was playing funny buggers with injury / contract his reward is ZERO caps for this International break. Pretty sure he would have kept his place if he had been playing every week with us. Choices....choices....
-
Leaving it till 3 days before the game ! Even if there is a stream and I hope there is one they are not allowing much time for fans to sign up. Not saying they will miss out on 000’s of customers but you can imagine a few will think I will leave it now, especially if it not announced very shortly. Seems a little odd to leave it this late. Makes me wonder if the clubs could not reach an agreement ?
-
If as widely speculated he feigned injury to renege on a contract then I would not even have him in the squad. BUT.... I would actually expect the club to do the same. I would not expect the powers that be to tolerate such behaviour. The fact they have not and the fact GA has talked up Gallacher suggests to me there is more to this. We are still in a relegation battle at least until we gain another 3,4 or 5 points so maybe the club like some fans think let’s play our best team inc Dec. Also as widely reported we keep his appearance money from the Euros. Us not playing him between now and then means he may not make the squad. Unlikely but quite possible. I suspect we will find out when he eventually leaves the club.
-
This. Dec has not played for a couple of months. All other central defenders had. That is about it. Expect him to start v Faroe Islands as most of the players starting tonight and v Israel will be rested you would imagine.
-
I would think so Dave. Given under normal circumstances for the cup the gate receipts are split after expenses etc. I could see a Motherwell offering up our Streaming expertise (ahem) and split the proceeds. I certainly would buy a stream. As it will have been 3 weeks since last game and Scottish Cup.

Playing it pretty safe there Weeyin :-) At least it is 3pm on a Saturday. I hope I don’t regret this but always feel long trips midweek under floodlights pose more of a problem. Not sure if the BBC stats were correct but it states they only had one shot all evening as did Annan. That cannot be right. If so if we cannot beat a team that only had one shot at goal in 90+ minutes v Annan. I wonder if we will offer up a stream in agreement with Formartine. You would imagine so.

I was a big Robbo fanboy. But even I admit his time had come to an end. A rot had set in and it seems still persists. My preference was Graham Alexander and I was pleased he was appointed over Tommy Wright or whomever else was mentioned. I do find some of his after match comments a bit tedious but it is also hard to argue with anything he is actually saying. Hardly groundbreaking but if we do not put in a 100% then chances are you will lose in this league. I mean if you had to choose Graham Alexander over Stephen Glass. I am sure Cormack will throw money at Glass but all things being equal there is no comparison in terms of playing and managerial experience.
-
I disagree. In saying that he seems to be the type who plays better for International team than club team. It is usually the other way around like Andy Robertson etc. For me SOD has been a decent signing. He is far from being anywhere near the waste of space half the squad has been this season. Also probably suffers from comparison of an International player. Key difference is he is playing with better players. Add to that and any interview he has given has been generally positive of his time at Motherwell and the ease of signing extension v the want away stars in out team. So he gets a pass from me and one of the few in the squad that I would keep into next season. Unlikely as it may be.

This kind of nonsense does my heid in. Why start a Scotland International and Club Captain over a youngster loan player. Deary me. Like asking why would you want to shag the elephant man over Gal Gadot. I get the dislike for Gallacher. But I also understand why he would want to engineer a move to a club that will make him comfortable for his family and future. We may not like it but 100% we would ALL do the same. Would we have won today with Gallacher in defence ? Possibly not but I 100% certain we would have avoided shipping 4 goals to Killie.
-
So what. He wants to earn more money in the twilight of his career. He is an International player earning buttons compared to his peers. Magloire is not even our player. Would it have made a difference ? Who knows. All I know is that I would rather he started last game and this .
-
Gallacher should have started. Not with benefit of hindsight. Just the fact we have started a young boy ahead of an experienced and an International player that would hold our defence together better imho. Might seem clever by Alexander but that was a daft decision form the get go !
-
I said Gallacher would start last game. He didn’t. But I believe that had more to do with him being ready and match fit after his injury. He has now had a further two weeks training and a bounce game or two. Also the last game before the International break, so I expect we will see him back in the starting line up in place of Magloire. The rest of the team that started v Livi I would expect to stay the same assuming no injuries etc.
-
Kiltie being absent through injury is good for us. One of their better players. With the International break after this game would not like a defeat to stew on. Tommy Wright will be telling his players they are running out of chances and I would expect them to start brightly. If we can match their intensity and show same application as last two games I am hopeful of at least one point. Our forwards may give us the edge in this one. Same team as last game I would assume. Although I would expect Gallacher to return as Captain to mark Lafferty. Also suspect he needs to play with the International’s coming up. GA made it plain he needed more training and bounce game (s) to get back to full fitness.
-
I am good with this scenario Ropy. Getting a bit cocky the Paisley buddies.
-
For the St Johnstone game we fielded a reserve side (exception Kelly and Forwards). The application was still missing but no team could be expected to win having 6 or 7 first picks missing. Disappointing as it was I was not worried for the reasons listed above. You simply cannot judge GA on that game.
-
It may not have aged Well...but it does not mean u r wrong. I hope the decision to bench DG is not one GA will regret !
-
Probably. They are brutal to watch. I am going to regret saying this but how they went on that long undefeated run is perplexing based on tonite. Granted they were playing Rangers. But not one shot on target and virtually every ball was blootered long and of course let us not forget their long throw every time they have a shy within 9 miles of the goal. What you do get is 11 (overly) committed players that press high up and give you no peace. As long as we are prepared for that we should be OK. I suspect Gallacher will come in for Magloire. So both him and Lamie will have to earn their wages come 3pm on Sat. Is Crawford eligible to play ? If so you could have 4 ex Livi players in Lamie, Gallacher, Crawford and Lawless playing at some point.
-
Basically this..... It also could be that any extension trigger clause would have to be agreed by the player or mutually agreed by both parties. I am no Gallacher fanboy. He had an excellent season last one around. This one not so much. I would rather wait until the end of the season to find out what is gospel than a few spurious comments / claims.
-
Well then that is disappointing. I am not sure I believe the club would have simply removed a clause that could possibly make us £500k+ in the summer. But you and Spiderpig and others have spoken. Will still be curious to see what happens in the future.
-
Is this all fact ? You know all of this is 100% true. There was an extension trigger but the club removed for some reason and now he is free to leave in the summer ? Again - you know this to be factually accurate and EXACTLY how it went down ?
-
Cannot agree with the above. He is our Captain and a Scotland International. He should be starting over a 20 yr old with a couple of appearances. Much like SOD was picked ahead of Johnston. It is a no brainer. Johnston and recently Magloire have played OK but we are not out of the mire just yet. So many rumours around the Gallacher contract. And no one seems to have the definitive view / answer. I have no issues whatsoever if Gallacher has tried to get a more favourable contract. As long as he or his agent have not played funny buggers. Time will tell what has happened. If there is a contract extension then hopefully he gets a decent move in the summer and we get a decent fee. A win win.
