I would say that the question you have posed is fairly valid.....................
-
Also noticed that Llanelli lost 4-5 after extra time tonight to a team from Lithuania. Bit of a shame.

Cannae connect to the main club website. I assume it means that when more than 21 fans access the site - it crashes

Jenno started off quite slow - literally as he seemed fairly unfit and I think he picked up an injury early on. But there is no doubt as the season wore on and he got fitter he was and would be the fans first pick in midfield. He has a fair dig and no little skill. We are delighted he signed another contract - just a shame it is only for a year, but probably the best we could expect. As for Shukes - time will tell if he signs on and if he does, he may just get a new lease of life. By the souns of things he may be lined up as a replacement for Jim O'Brien who has just gone to Barnsley. He was our most creative midfielder and although opinio was sometimes split - he will be missed big time this coming season. Thanks 4 the summary all the same

Bliki has a sense of humour Are the girls as hot as the geysers up in Iceland..........not geezers b4 any smart ars3 starts up

Just being polite and cordial to our Icelandic friend. I did state that we would expect to win and were that not the case I would agree with Johnstone - for once.... but.... I do believe these will be tough matches. Reykjavik beat Glentoran 3-0 in their match and Breidablik are by all accounts a better team. If our players can play near the top of their game I would expect a win, but if they do not it could be Mypa 47 all over again........perish the thought
-
I would not take it personally Bliki. Johnstone does not know what he is talking about 95% of Well fans are expecting a tough encounter, especially based on your posts and the way Breidablik are playing at the moment - top of the league! It appears as if you have a very exciting young team who will play with no fear and a lot of skill. As a full time professional team we would expect to win - were both teams at the same stage in the season. That is not the case and Breidablik will be a lot sharper and match fit/ready. If we can get a narrow win at home without conceding a goal then I would be very happy. We have a scout watching the last and next game - so hopefully there will be no surprises.

I was kinda hoping that the main man from the shop or SCDave would shine some light on the Puma merchandise/strips etc. Will there be some in for the Europa League game or no. Simples???
-
It is only natural...it is what we/i do at this stage in the season. Oh by the way thanks for your response. It is like a morgue on here..... Early start tomorrow....I am offksi to bed.

Not sure I agree with that. Their Uefa co-efficient is marginally above Bangor City. That probably has more to do with them not having played in Europe before and Iceland's co-efficient. Still when all is said and done they are a part time outfit. This has all the hallmarks of Mypa 47, except we should not be so naive this time around. They will be a decent team and used to winning, but I still think we ought to win by a couple of goals over the two legs. That is of course assuming our key players play well enough on the night(s) and defend better than we did in the last few games of last season. I still think this tie suits us better than travelling to some far flung country like Moldova or Montenegro where the temp is 30 degrees +

With a newsworthy story almost each and every day over the summer. It is a wee bit quiet at the moment. Not panicking just yet, but IMHO we have only replaced Ruddy and Randy will need to be damn fine goalie to achieve that. Very little else happening at the moment. I was hoping we would get in another player or two ahead of the Friday Europa deadline. This may well happen but we are missing a replacement for Coke, Lukas and our most creative player of last season O'Brien. I will be pleasantly surprised if we skoosh past Briedablik. I suspect and expect a tough couple of legs. I would have been a lot more comfortable with our 1st 11 from last season. Other key issues are the lack of sponsor and lack of communication surrounding the sale of new Puma merchandise and the new strips when we are only a little over one week away from a Euro game. Hope for the shops sake they get some gear or it will be a hell of a lot quieter than it should be for the 1st competitive home match. I am a glass half full kinda guy - honestly. Just want to stimulate discussion as this board is awfy quiet.............
-
I think half and half for both the midweek games, with possibly our starting 11 for the Ayr game in preparation for the Breidablik game.
-
Simple question - when? I know we have a thread for the new strip, but one reply gets lost in all the rest. Feel free to merge when we get an "official" response......
-
I assume that was off air as it were or I must have missed that part.
-
Aye right............................ Only question I heard Tam ask Paw Broon was if the pitch was in good nick.
-
Well that is as maybe. But noticed the following.....as we are bottom seeds in qualifying round 3 - does that mean we would become unseeded and therefore could play a househaold name if we beat the Icelanders?????? Unknown seeding Winners of match involving Cyprus Anorthosis_Famagusta_FC * Winners of match involving Denmark Randers_FC * Winners of match involving Sweden Kalmar_FF * Switzerland FC_Luzern Winners of match involving Switzerland FC_Lausanne-Sport "If Anorthosis and Randers advance from the first qualifying round, they will be seeded in the third qualifying round."

See that is where I think you are wrong. It is also a midfielders job to defend not just to attack. It was sometimes painful to watch Ross chasing shadows in midfield. If teams with pace (like Hibs) break against us then we are in trouble if our midfield and certain players lack the pace to track back.
-
IMHO I tend to lean more towards Frazzles point of view. Forbes started the season on fire and his goal v St J was one of the best I have seen and only second to Lukas v Hibs last season. That said it became apparent that when teams sussed him out he lost that early season surprise element. It is said that he is one of the most technically gifted footballers at the club and this by other players, but he is lacking in stature and looks like he is running through treacle at times. The stature and build may change with age, but not sure about pace, you either have it or you do not. This is a big season for Forbes. He will either make the grade or not, in which case he is more than likely going to drop down a league or two. I hope he does come good, but like Frazzle I do harbour my doubts.

Q - When will the new strips be avaialble to buy (sponsor or no sponsor) from the club shop. B4 our jaunt to Iceland I hope...............
-
On a serious note: - What is the update re Ruddy + Lukas ever coming back - What are his realistic expectations for the season, both in the SPL and Europe? - If he had £100m to spend - who would he buy (Messi not allowed)? - How many extra players is he looking to bring in and in what positions? - Will he get to see any extra money generated by an extended Europa cup run? - Will he retire at the end of the season..or keep going until MFC are looking for a change? - Is he optimistic the pitch is in good enought nick not to cause us as many problems this year? - What chances are there that Michael Fraser will move to South Africa - What does he think of the new Puma strips - Have we got an effin Sponsor or NO? Non Well related: - Why were England so p1ss poor at the world cup - What did he think of the coalition emergency budget. Has it been kind on pensioners

I see Michael Fraser is off down to South Africa for a trial...........there goes any chance of him getting a move

Fair comment Finlay. But we are moaners and worriers by nature. The Europa league is not as important as the SPL, but a run like last year could significantly boost our coffers and give us the finances to go and get a few more loan deals like Lukas and Ruddy. Still have not given up hope of Lukas returning. We have a decent sized squad and enough I would hope to get us through the 1st Europa tie. But if we could add 1 0r 2 decent size signings then that would give us the fans and perhaps even the players a lift ahead of the games v Breidablik. The rumours re Randolph are strong, yet I see Brown has been dismissive of them on TV. He is either not wanting to p1ss off Fraser even more before he leaves/if he leaves and/or trying to keep it stchum until it is all done and dusted. Seems to have come onto a game for Charlton end of last season and most of their fans would be upset if he left....always a good sign. Not panicking yet (honestly), just would like to see a couple of decent signings ahead of the Europa ties.
-
What worries me is that if we appear to be scrimping and downsizing now, what happens if and when we do not finish in the top 6 and qualify for Europe. I sure as hell hope we have been budgeting for 10th and no European place, then anything extra is a bonus. We have had to spunk the best part of £500k on the pitch the last 2 seasons. If the same happens again then we either need to move or get a competent groundsman. Hopefully we can get through at least 2 rounds in Europa and get a decent draw v glamour oppo. If that happens then we could be looking at up to £1m in extra revenue from home gates, telly money and UEFA. Worst case scenario is 5000 for 1st home game and no more. Still £70k+ more than if we were not in Europe from home crowd + £90k from Uefa. Worries me that we have so far lost 4 of our best players from last season and not replaced them (officially) as yet.... we need a boost before we play Breidablik.... Come on Craigie Brown..........how about getting a few world cup players in on loan
-
Comment from an Addicks fan re Randy - our new GK "Darren is a massive loss for us, was quality last season and should have started as no.1 next season..." Encouraging, but probably means the end of speculation that Ruddy may return.....
