On your first point - sure I quite clearly said that in my post On your second point - I very much hope you are right. Time will tell.

That's as maybe, but I don't buy that.... If every other SPL team in the league can get a sponsor then how come a team that finished in the top 6 and qualified for Europe for the 3rd successive season cannot?? I will reserve judgment to see if we actually do get one, but questions must be asked about who is dealing with this and how we are marketing ourselves. Times are tough - I acknowledge that, but I still believe that if Hamilton, Killie and the likes can get sponsorship when one of them are odds on for relegation and we are competing in Europe, then we need stronger negotiation skills. We must have known some time ago that JAXX were not going to renew. How pro-active have we been at chasing shirt sponsorship..... If we go forward with none - it will be a sizable drop in income - equal to 1 maybe 2 players salaries.
-
No bare patches then..............

Cost is always the main factor when considering whether to go on any trip. That and accessibility. I have decided to go on this trip primarily because if we get through to the 3rd qualifying round (here's hoping!) there are at the moment only 2-3 potential ties I would consider going to and that would include Circle Brugge and Gothenburg. The rest forget it........ Essentially this looks at the moment the most do-able trip for Europe of the two rounds..... Ideally we would get to the 4th qualifying round and get PSV Eindhoven or equivalent, but since when have Motherwell done what was either expected or hoped for
-
I know you are fiercely proud of that statistic Decorator and rightly so. But you are forgetting one thing and that is that all away supports in Europe are calculated using the Seville calculation method, which basically doubles the amount of away support
-
Thanks Bliki We have been in Europe the past 2 years and our away crowd has varied from nearly 3000 to nancy in France to only 20 to Flumartari in Albania, although we were told by the club not to travel for that tie. We are running an official club charter which will take up to 120 fans + I exepct that another 150-200 may travel giving us over 300 fans. I think a lot of fans are hoping we get through this tie and maybe one other and get a glamour tie v Liverpool/Juventues and the like. That said as Motherwell fans we will NEVER underestimate the opposition. We will play 3 friendlies before the first leg, but that is no substitute to 9-10 competitive matches. At this stage last year we beat Flumartari 8-1 in the home leg. No-one sees anyhting like a repeat of that scoreline. We will settle for winning the tie by 1 more goal

Hello Bliki I am looking forward to visiting Iceland. Never been but heard many great things about the country especially the pretty girls There are a group of 5 of us going over not on the official club charter. At the moment we are not guaranteed tickets and was wondering what the average crowd is for your games? There are 1800 seats and I believe we may get 2-300 tickets. Will you sell out the remaining 1500 seats? Cheers

It is do-able. My point is it is risky. I flew Easyjet back from Luton last Friday and the flight was 40 minutes late into Edinburgh..........
-
Good luck if you wish to chance a 70 minute transfer at LGW. Not really do-able in truth. the Easyjet flight would have to land early or bang on time. Even then you have to get off the plane and check in to the Iceland leg. Is it even the same terminal?
-
Good question.... Some of us would like to make more than a day of the trip, but as season tickets holders are we any less deserving of getting a ticket than those on the club charter, should one be organised? It should be a UEFA stipulation that your ground must have a minimum of 13,472 seats before you can participate in UEFA competition
-
Is there a rugby ground nearby 5% of 1800 is 90 tickets - Oh dear........... Let's start a campaign to move it to the Reykjavik stadium.
-
It was cakes that posted capacity 5500+ Don't tell me UEFA only allow for the seating?????????
-
£100 rtn EDI-LGW BA £230 rtn LGW - Reykjavik - Iceland Express £40 Hotel Room The capacity does concern me though. I thought someone posted earlier the ground holds 5500. Under 2000 means that we may struggle for a ticket. Ach well never been to Iceland before.
-
5 of us booked for £375 all in inc hotel accomodation. Flights via LGW. Just hope the date does not change and that we can get tickets
-
Just going to post that little fact. Probably means bugg3r all, but they are one of the lowest seeded non seeds as it were. Could have been a much worse draw
-
Happy with that.... Better than 90% of the countries we could have ended up with.....
-
Cannot see any decent unseeded teams in Group 1
-
My money is on us drawing the winner of the following: Mogren v UE Sante Coloma Laci v FC Dnepr Mogilev Siroki Brijc v Oliimpija Llub..... WHO.....................
-
Unfortunately I think you may well be right. Last year we were incredibly lucky to get Llanelli. Maybe an Irish team would not be such an advantage given they are mid season. Bangor would be the jackpot, although how big is their ground....
-
Draw procedure For the first qualifying round equal numbers of seeded and unseeded teams have been allocated to five groups in accordance with rankings established at the beginning of the season – four of ten teams and one of 12. For each group, balls containing seeded teams will be placed in one bowl and unseeded teams in another. A ball from each will be placed in a large empty bowl in the middle, and the first team drawn will play its first match at home. Clubs from the same association cannot be drawn against each other. The 80 teams involved in the second qualifying round are divided into eight groups of ten, each containing five seeded and five unseeded teams. The draw follows the same procedure as the first qualifying round. When then do they put the teams we could get into the various pots. I assume it needs to be a reasonable time ahead of the actual draw???

I guess the chances od Dorman coming are remote......but Paw Broon did say that he has made offers to a couple of out of contract SPL players. He would be one on my list. Sad fact is that any player that attracts interest from another top 6 SPL side or championship club, we will have little chance of competing on wages.
-
Was a wee bit worried with his form over the last few games, but up until then he had been a great addition to the team and if anything played better under Gannon that Paw Broon. Truth is as the article states we would have struggled to have replace him with the little cash going around. Decent delivery on free kicks. Needs to do a bit better and work harder defensively. Good News all in all.
-
Mmmm - a wee bit underwhelmed by both. I will buy one and probably the away one as I am a fan of simplistic designs. I actually quite like the away collar. Would have liked to have seen a little claret and amber on the away one, not much just a little more, well some at all is what I mean. Lack of a sponsor is a concern. It may ruin both tops, hopefully I can get the away one before we get a sponsor if indeed we do. It may ruin the tops but is a reasonable source of income and would pay for 1-2 players wages per annum. One has to question why we are only 6 weeks away from Europa Cup and NO sponsor. We must have known JAXX were not going to renew ages ago. Times are tough I know, but we are top 6 SPL side and have qualified for Europe for 3rd year in a row. If we cannot get a sponsor now, we never will. Need better negotiators methinks.......

Spoke to a neighbour of mine today. He is quite pally with Jim Jeffries. He said that JJ had identified 8 players he wanted to sign, provided the list to Romanov and the ONLY one he approved was Kevin Kyle. So JJ is already pissed off at the Submariner. He did however claim that Jim O'brien was on that list and that JO'B has all but agreed to go to Hearts until Romanov put the kibosh on the move. Of course could be horse manure, but sounds like there is substance behind what he was saying. He finished by saying JJ was playing golf with Paul Hartley today and there was a chance he could end up back at Tynecastle next season from Bristol City....
