Only Well trips really count to me BIG man
-
Well done lads - a great result at a venue that has been not overly kind to us over the years. Wonder if Jeffries is concerned with european dates now!! Got to go for 4th now as knowing our luck if we finish 5th - Ross C would go onto win the Sc Cup.. A clean sheet for Fraser too....well I never..credit to him as well. Glad we are back on track - would LOVE another trip overseas next year...or back to Wales
-
Aint that the truth........ Jefferies interviewed the other day saying how he does not want to wait until DDee Utd have to beat Ross County to learn if they are in the Europa Cup, plus all the talking about the potential dates these games will be played, ruining pre-season etc etc. At no point did he say it may not happen. I genuinely believe that Hearts think a win on Saturday is almost a foregone conclusion. I hope Paw Broon will make this clear in his team talks today and tomorrow...............
-
I think it is always healthy when there is a certain amount of turnover in the squad. Ruddy is defo away as is probably the case with O'Brien, Reynolds, Coke and maybe even Hately. hopefully we can persuade Everton for the Juke to stay, but highly improbable. That is a minimum of 6 replacements. Number 1 priority would be the Number 1 position. Then we would need some defensive cover, a couple of midfielders and a couple of strikers. The replacements are CRITICAL - get it right and we will be battling for top 6 again, get it wrong and we will end up in a battle in the bottom 6.
-
I don't blame Tom for taking that stance if indeed he even has. But I must say in my eyes he has gone from a must sign target earlier in the season to a it would be ok if he stays situation. Also see that they are quoting that rangers are loking at Jim O'Brien. Silly season has started.........
-
I think the failure to pick up any points from home games v Falkirk and DDee Utd will come back to haunt us big time. Saturday is a huge game - win it and we will finsh no lower than 5th with a realistic chance of 4th, draw and we would still be favourites for 5th, lose and I believe 6th place will be ours. Hearts have 4 games left and all are in Edinburgh. You would expect them to pick up a good few points. I hope I am wrong but I get the bad feeling that we have blown it..........

What is refreshing is Paw Broon does not make any excuses for Fraser. H e made a total b@lls of it today- no excuses. We have had umptenn opportunities to ctach up to Hibs and move further ahead of Hearts and we make a pigs ear of it. In some resepcts I am happy I will not need to spend a small fortune following Motherwell around Europe, because quite honestly after today it just aint going to happen. I am usually a glass half full kind of guy, but with Fraser in goal I will not be watching the team again.......simple because I do not want to be present when he makes a total arse of it again....fingers crossed we can do it, but the injuries have really started to kick in.

Season ticket holder and will be renewing again next season. That said I agree with those that are reviewing because of scheduling. Fir the 1st time in many years I was going to be able to attend all home games this season, well up until they made the Hibs game on a Thursday evening

I will agree with the sentiments of the 1st post. This club and this team does deserve not a better support, but larger support. For all those who are on this board moaning about the standard of football, consider very carefully where we could have been this year and look to teams like Dunfermline and Dundee and where they have spent the last few seasons. I find it unbelievable - but not at all surprising - that there are some who moan about the qulaity of our football - what do you expect from a club who is struggling to get home gates above 4000. Motherwell have achieved top 6 - not that it matters - but we could be where Aberdeen are right now!!! We have outperformed this season and hopefully may yet get a place in the Europa cup. I am far from being a happy clappy - but come on GET REAL........ As for crowds - around the late 80's when we got out of the 1st division when our gates were anything from 1500-3000 at best, we took a few seasons to lift that to 3-4000, then by the early 90's we were getting 6-8000 - GO figure........... The support is there and hopefully in time the economy will pick up and more people can afford to go and watch a game.
-
If despite all the hullabaloo surrounding the post split fixtures where we have been shafted, the Motherwell public/support came out in numbers for the home games despite the timings - to show the SPL that they are a bunch of haddies. What a lift the team would get if instead of 3500 gates they turned up and there were 5-6000 home fans to get behind the boys at this crucial time. Times are tough I know and the games are not at great times at all - add that to the fact they are on telly, well we would expect a smaller crowd. Let's get a celtic style "they are all against us mentality" and get as many fans along to show the SPL up for wnat they are - conmen............ Yout Club NEEDS U
-
I see we have only sold 29 tickets or so...........must be our unofficial boycott of all away games due to the SPL's handling of the post split fixtures.... Ironically beating Celtic may harm our chances of European qualification....if that allows DDee Utd to scrape 2nd place and mean that even if they win the cup ..the cup runners up get the Europa league spot and not the leagues 5th place team... That said if we beat Celtic then we would hopefully go onto finish 4th. We are effectively 5 points ahead of Hearts taking goal difference into account. If we avoid defeat at tynecastle and 1 at least 1 home game that should see us finish no lower than 5th.
-
Good to see so many sending in their thoughts to the SPL. Whilst I expect nothing to chnage and probably little response at least it lets them know how strong we feel about this outcome. It is not moaning for moanings sake. We have effectively been punished for finishing in the top 6 whilst Aberdeen have been rewarded for finishing in the bottom 6. It makes a mockery of the whole ethos of the split and supposed increased revenue that comes with a top 6 finish. I suspect that the state of our pitch was a contributory factor, that and we are the smallest of the top 6 clubs, so will have less fans to complain and make noise.........It will be interesting to see what the clubs response to this will be, after all they are as much victims of this scenario as the fans if not more so.
-
The biggest irony is the fact that everyone goes on about getting in the top 6 to bring in more revenue. Yet quite clearly on this occasion we have penalised and then some. To take away a home game v old firm is bad enough, but to play the remaining home games at quite frankly bizarre times, means that we would have actually been rewarded has we finished in the bottom 6. £ home games against teams who are fighting for their lives with larger crowds as a result. On this basis alone no-one should ever talk about increasing revenue from incresed attendances. Sure we will get greater money from finishing at least 6th as we can go no lower, but pretty much it sucks. Do agree with one minor point from a post above and that is had we had an easier run in we would no doubt feck it up. 3 points v DDee Utd and not losing away at Tynie will se us finish no lower than 5th IMHO.

so did I. Wont make any difference but it it was a cathartic experience.......

The club must make a stand against this fix up. 3 away games and as usual I cannot make the home game against Hibs as it is a Thursday night, ruining my chance of going to all home games this season. SPL are corrupt bunch of retards
-
That is a feckin disgrace - 20 away games inc Hearts, Celtic and Rangers after the split. SPL obviously decided to punish us for the state of our pitch. I am raging.......
-
We could certainly avoid going to Ibrox when they still need points to win the league. Also could do with Hearts later on whilst we have hopefully built up a bigger gap if at all possible. Rather go to Tynecastle if we are 6 points ahead with two games to go for example. Hopefully we will getthe 3 home games and 2 away.
-
Hope you are both right. Although how did Gretna get into Europe when they played Hearts in the final. The rules must have changed????
-
Watching the 1st half of the Sc Cup semi and I can only hope Celtic are as insipid and as poor as when they come to play us on Tuesday night. Naturally something tells me they wont be.......
-
1-0 to DDee Utd. I guess the only saving grace is that Hearts only need a draw v Killie to cement their place in the top 6. Whilst they will surely play for a win, maybe if it is 1-1 after 89 mins they will not go all gung ho. Could really do without them getting the 3 points this coming Saturday
-
Interesting to note that you believe that Hearts will make the top 6. Whilst I still believe that is the likely scenario, a win for St J tonight puts them in pole position. Another win against Aberdeen at Pittodrie and they not Hearts will probably make top 6. And let's face it Albion Rovers could beat Aberdeen right now. Not sure where my preference lies. St J make top 6 and they may take the view that is there season complete and in our favour they would have to come to Fir Park, as oppose to us having to go to Tynecastle. If Celtic and DDee United contest the Sc Cup final then it is GAME on for 5th spot and either Hearts or St J will know they will need to overhaul us to get to 5th spot. Whichever team makes it, chnaces are they will only be 4 points behind us come the split. Perhaps the best scenario is a DDee U win tonight which means Hearts only need a draw to get 6th, which would still leave them 6 points behing with an inferior goal difference. All to play for - let us hope WE are up for the battle ahead.
-
I have managed to reflect on what was by and large a poor performance yesterday. After Hibs loss today and Hearts getting a draw - I am quite sure hd we won yesterday 5th place would have been ours and quite possibly 4th. I hope it does not come back to haunt us. Hoping for an Aberdeen win today, which will mean Killie going to Hearts a little desperate and up for a battle. I am an optimist at heart, but I cannot see us taking anything at Parkhead a week on Tuesday, so we desperatley need Hearts not to take 3 points next week. a 4 point gap with us having to go to Tynecastle would be a bit close to call for my liking. In truth despite the two defeats only DDee Utd have been doing better. Hibs have imploded and we have made up many points on them. Still standing in a much better position thatn I thought possible at Xmas or at the start of the year. Here's hoping it does not fizzle out.

It has to be said that pitch is and was abysmal. For a while I have tried to defen it due to the weather etc, but it was appalling. I walked along it b4 the game kicked off and it is as bald as a coot. I had hoed with 3 weeks it would have grown some grass. I know the winter has been terrible, but honest to god I think it is actually working against us. Problem is that I am sure this time next year the same posts/problems will appear all over again!!
-
On the basis of that performance 5th might be out of the equation. get a grip Motherwell.
