Let's face it - Crewe are after all a huge step up 8th bottom of league 2............... When Jimbo leaves his next step ought to be Championship or EPL. Let us hope he has done enough with the mighty Well to convince one of these teams he is worth a shot. League 2

When is the official unveiling?? Sadly I am away this weekend and will miss the league game v St Mirren. So hopefully it will put in an appearance for the CIS Cup 1/4 final the following Tuesday??
-
He has certainly impressed me this season...................eh Chasser B?????
-
Well done boys. A great point at one of the 2 toughest away venues in the SPL. We need to step it up and keep the momentum against St Mirren, Hamilton and Hearts. Missed out going to the game but won a few quid. Great day all around

Sumday got out of bed the wrong side................ There is a HUGE difference between a handful of Well fans sitting with home fans be it at Celtic, Hibs, St Johnstone because they got a freebie through a friend.........and hundreds possibly 000's (skippy sunday) abusing the system because they cannot get tickets for the away end. Take a chill pill!

The vast majority on here want paul Slane to stay and develop at the club. I don't think anyone can judge his character without actually knowing him. From what I have heard he is a shy likeable lad. The problem is that this thread would not even exist if he were to sign a new contract/contract extension for the club. With regards to this, as I mentioned earlier there does seem to be a long wait. And whilst this may be down to people filling the lads head with all sorts of nonsense - I am quite sure he is confused as what to do. He is just a young lad after all. Apart from 1 or 2 posters - no-one is having a go at him. We just would like a decision one way or another. The fact this thread exists shows that we as fans do care about his future as it relates to MFC. No thread = no-one cares. In many ways - although it may not appear to be the case - this whole thread is a back handed compliment to the young lad and were he to read it - he should take that as the defining message.

Ok Dodge - I accept that my turn of phrase was perhaps a little harsh. But as I understand it the offer has been on the table for some time and he is yet to accept it. Now back to the real world....if I or most posters were offered a job or contract extension and our stance was to take to weeks or maybe even months to reach a decision - I am quite sure our prospective employers would look elsewhere. Whilst I accept that playing football is a different environment or scenario to most 'normal jobs' there are some areas that are similar. Maybe these issues do take longer in football - I just believe that this would have been a done deal had there not been other (reported) options. Forbes, Hutchison and Saunders have signed extensions.....so again why the long wait?
-
This is like a soap opera............. Shame about the injury/operation if that is true. At this rate we will be lucky if he turns out before Xmas!! I believe a decent (1st team) contract offer is on the table - as has been reported - but he is a young lad who is being given too much advice on what to do. It's not rocket science. Stay at Motherwell and play 1st team football for a couple of years or go to celtic and rot in the reserves stifling his advancement. And before anyone mentions more money. I believe it is highly unlikely he will earn any more by moving to Celtic at his age and stage in his career. The longer he delays a decision the more time he spends on his YTS contract = less money. Question - do we play him if it is obvious he wants to move on?? Come on Paul - stop mucking Motherwell around - make the right decision and stay. All the fans want you too and in the long run it will be the right decision. If you progress as much as hoped - you will probably get the move to Parkhead at some point in time.......

I stated that I would happily put £20 towards the flag - still am. But it seemed to be an invisible post as there was no acknowledgement and my name was not added to the original post of donors. I even PM'd you Bop and again received no response?
-
Hats off to Billy - he got it right again - NOT
-
Or you could look at who is playing at home or the goals scored and points accumulated so far this season and not forgetting the current position in the league. I would say a home win is as much a sensible guess........... That said I am quite happy if he continues not to back us to win. Odds are when in April 2010 he does tip us for a win we will lose!!
-
Any halfwit can second guess it may be a draw tomorrow - he has at least a 1 in 3 chance of getting it right and even if he does - it hardly makes him the oracle......... The fact of the matter is that were it to be any one of Rangers, Hibs, Aberdeen or DDee Utd at home v Falkirk tomorrow he would forecast a home win. I don't give a shit whether he "has nothing against us". We are all entitled to our opinion. Mine and the vast majority of posters are of the opinion he is a numbnuts that knows as much about football as my granny!! No-one is getting worked up - a few including myself find it a little stange (biased or not) that given our relatively decent start to the SPL he has yet to forecast us for a win even with home tied v Killie and Falkirk to pick from
-
Amen to that. It makes you wonder what it takes to get a job in sports media. The guy is a donkey and always forecasts his former teams to get at least a point. So this week Billy we have: Rangers v Real Madrid.........close game but I think with home advantage Rangers will just have the edge.....6-0 to rangers. AC Milan v Aberdeen..........Aberdeen have been picking up of late and in McGhee have a very astsute Manager.............2-2. Dundee United v Man Utd.........DDee Utd have been playing well recently and should edge this won with a narrow 11-1 victory. Motherwell v Fort William.....mmm difficult one for me to call........Motherwell may have won the SPL title and the Champions league last year, but I expect Fort William to sneak this one, 4-1 to Fort William. I am glad he is not tipping us to win, that said what is the betting he gets it right this weekend!!!!! Whatever happens it will not change the fact he is an annoying wee as#hole.
-
Put me down for £20. Just need to know how to work this paypal thing as some on here obviously could not get it to work............................Eh Mr Johnstone
-
That's also probably a bit harsh............. The club cannot possibly accept all requests for charitable donations as I am quite sure they would be inundated.
-
I agree entirely (almost) with your post. So far, as I have stated earlier Gannon has outperformed mine and many others expectations. But we would not be football or even more so Motherwell fans if we were not allowed a wee moan every now and then. We have a veritable abundance of midfielders at the club and thankfully some have stepped up to the plate and scored telling goals this season. But we effectively lost 3 key strikers since last Xmas and have only replaced them with one loanee who has so far failed to deliver. I had very much hoped for at least two strikers and felt as we only had one in, we would struggle up front. Hopefully Lukas will start to deliver like Porter did after his slow start. Overall quite pleased with progress and I believe with Gannon at the helm we will have more highs than lows - or at least I hope so!
-
I would say so. Looking at our results so far this season I think even after today we are ahead of where most realistically expected us to be: St J 2 2 Motherwell.......Away to a newly promoted side for their first game in the SPL, so a point was not the worst result. Motherwell 3 1 Killie.........probably expected to beat Killie and we did comfortably. Dons 0 0 Motherwell..........an ok point away to a team that is usually in the top 4-6 in the SPL. Motherwell 0 0 Gers..........again a point to team that would not have been a surprise had we lost given their resources etc. DDee Utd 0 1 Motherwell.................3 points away to a team that are/were widely tipped to finish 3rd. Motherwell 1 3 Hibs............a defeat to team with more supposed big name players who are undoubtedly on much greater wages (Murray Riordan, Millar, Stokes) than everyone in our team. I hope this serves as a wake up call to certain players who were starting to believe the media hype. From those games I would have guessed at 6 or 8 points, so to be on 9 is no disgrace. A draw last week away to DDee Utd and a draw at home to Hibs today and we would have been on one less point. Let's hope this is a blip and we can bounce back against Falkirk.
-
All in all Gannon has done a very good job thus far. That said I am probably not alone in thinking now and before the end of the transfer window, that we had not adequately replaced the goals from Porter, Clarkson and Sheridan. This is coming back to haunt us. Has a forward actually scored a league goal yet? Hibs won today because they have natural goalscorers. I hope big Lukas comes good, but I would put my house on the fact that if presented with the chance that Riordan scored from he would probably have somehow missed. I think we are stronger in defence and midfield and weaker in attack. Maybe we could have got one less midfielder in the summer and one more striker.
-
Ditto. Good draw IMHO opinion. Not be easy but probably the most preferable away tie in terms of opponent and distance to travel.
-
In truth the attendance today was approx 9400 whereas last year at home V Gers it was 9600. So I guess taking into account the timing of the game, the Sky coverage and above all the cost and the state of the Economy it does not look so bad. That said handing over the Cooper back to the home support shows up how poor our support is, especially for old firm games! I guess most of the Cooper went into the East stand last year and that artificially made it look like a good support. I sit in the POD stand and many is the time we get up the stairs and look over to the East stand and the Cooper and wonder where our support is? Yet the flip side are days like Nancy (home and away), Llanelli and St Johnstone and you think we have a great support - don't figure Not much has changed over the years if the truth be told, but we are capable of filling the East and Cooper for Cup games and important league games. I just wish, as do many on here we could get that support every home game. Especially when you have a team playing attractive football and trying their hardest.
-
Just a shame that did not happen................. I am on record as saying I did not agree with giving the Cooper over to the Old firm, but I am afraid today illustrated exactly why it was in the first place! You would be lucky if there were 4-500 Well fans in the Cooper today. Whilst the 1500+ Well fans in the POD Stand had the great unwashed on either flank. Maybe not popular comments but again I thought our support was POOR today. This Well side are showing a lot of promise and quite frankly deserve a better support. Those that were there were excellent. I know the costs are expensive - all I am saying is that it is a shame that we could not at least fill the East Stand.
-
I assume that is because unlike me you do not sit in the main stand near to where the away support will be tomorrow................ I was never a fan of handing over the Cooper even though I understood the financial reasoning. At least that way all fans were in separate stands.
-
What side of the POD stand is the overspill??
-
Probably Boyle told him over dinner. You know to sort of rub it in....................Hi Markey I hear you could not afford two bubblies for X player........well Big Lukas is on £10 squillion a week. Happy you went to Aberdeen now ya muppet Edit - just read the post above. At least we are all thinking along similar lines!
