To put things into perspective without Coleraine beating Maribor on penalties we would have been the top ranked non seeded side. The team that then became the top ranked non seed drew Wolfsburg away. So yes it will be similar to Glentoran if not more difficult as we are away but Coleraine are part time and are one of the lowest ranked non seeded sides in the competition. However I expect Coleraine to be right at from the off. In our faces and try and not let us settle. As Robbo ALWAYS say you need to earn the right to win a game. I have rarely ever known a Motherwell side to start well go comfortably in the lead and have a comfortable game. It is not in our DNA. But hopefully the players take on warnings from Robbo and go out and apply themselves at 100%. If they do that we should come through into the next round. If they don’t and are off it then we would be in for another fraught evening.

Live on BBC Ireland Sports website. I think there is a difference. If we are able to watch via Sky that would be great but again I am not sure that is an option. Streaming via the website. Then if you have the technology to mirror on to your large TV if more reliable than club stream......

Scores the winner in 93 minutes in Carabao League Cup. I am sure commentator said he had scored 6 in last 6 games ! Way to go Danny.

I would want us to go on the attack. If we are able too that is. Therefore starting with the same formation and defence as Sat is possibly not necessary. A back 4 minus Lamie and an extra midfielder or attacker on the pitch. I know our wingers have not been up to much. That plus Lamie nearly sold the jerseys twice on Saturday.

This is very noticeable for me also. Polworth delivered some decent crosses yesterday and by in large his corners are decent. But all I see is Big Bevis or White heading it towards the moon. What makes it all the more annoying is how many times opposition players get their heads on the end of more crosses. It is a key part of the game but it looks as if it is hit and hope. I would certainly like us to see players attacking crosses or attempting too. As for the Robinson takes a % of player sales chat. I very much think this is bullshit. I don’t see our custodians offering such a deal to any Manager. His pay will reflect our performance and also money coming in and there may well be bonuses etc He obvs got an increase and better contract around the time N Ireland were sniffing about. Deservedly so.

Think MB is on the wind up on this one referring back to DDee U and McNamara. Losing Campbell would be a huge blow. His goals have contributed to 4 out of the lowly 5 points we have. How much would it take to sell him ? I Appreciate he has a year left but I would say somewhere between James Scott and Turnbull do between £1.5 and £3m. If we did get a bid around £2m that would be hard to turn down. But we would absolutely need to reinvest some of that cash in a couple or 3 decent replacements. You almost would be looking for proven players and not gambles as that would be too risky.

I would expect the club if sensible would have budgeted for 2 rounds in Europe. The thinking being we would have been unseeded in this round. The irony being we have Coleraine to thank for that. So if we do win in N Ireland then that is an extra 300k Euro that was Probably not budgeted for. I am quite sure the club would buy a striker / winger or both if we are still around foot of table by end of transfer window now or more so at Xmas. The good news is we have the funds to do so should it be required. of course a lot also depends on what happens with Campbell.... I hope we do not sell him but if he keeps playing and scoring like he has been then I would expect a bid or two.
-
We will have taken in 500k Euro so far and will get a further 280k Euro should we get past Coleraine. A further 300k In the unlikely event (but not impossible) we win away in the next round. At which point barring a minor miracle we would be playing a top top team. But the prize on offer for getting to the group stage is eye watering for a club like Motherwell. £2.9m Euros and 500k for a win. Getting to Group Stage would earn the club 4m Euros as a minimum. But since we cannot score highly unlikely. All that said if we do manage to get past Coleraine then we would earn 800k Euros which when you take into account costs and win bonuses would probably leave around 500k Euros. The problem is that probably only helps to replace match day income from the SPFL.

I am quite sure the club will come up with an option that means you can donate a portion of this season ticket or next as a goodwill gesture. Otherwise the financial impact will be quite severe given current likelihood of fans getting back to games. On that basis I would help the club as much as possible. But this is starting to annoy me and always happens at crucial times. I missed the goal live ! God knows what happened but one second watching a tussle in midfield the next moment Jock Brown is all excited and Campbell is away celebrating. Bloody annoying.

And it has gone down again for me..

I am running out of patience with this streaming lark. I have full Wi-fi signal and it cut out just before goal and cut back in AFTER Campbell had scored and now the Verizon Ad. I don’t mind paying season ticket to watch a live stream but I sure as fuck mind paying a season ticket to keep getting sub standard service. Sort it out Motherwell FC

I see it is being reported that Cedric Is off to WBA for a fee rumoured to be around £1m. Given that was around the same money we received for him I would assume we would be due very little from a sell on clause. In fact some clauses are a % over the original fee. So we could be due nada. Disappointing as it seems routine for Championship clubs to get millions for average players.

That again is utter bollox. I am a fan of Robinson but he is simply not immune from criticism. What the majority of fans are doing is rightly giving him more time than most Managers at the same stage. Twice before he has turned our form around by luck or by judgement and again most would like to see him do the same again. What most fans also accept is that with one of the lowest budgets in the league we are bound to go through dips in form. I often think about Falkirk, Dunfermline and Partick. In many ways clubs of a similar size to us. Look where they are and where we could have been. Simply put you and Yodo and a few others think we have should always be top 6 and winning more than we r losing. We are the most successful provincial club of all time based on top flight league points. Good enough for me.
-
Are Shaka and Yodo one and the same. I have come to the conclusion that Robinson pissed on their chips. Robinson is not exempt from criticism and failure to beat Coleraine and pick up a win in the league this next few weeks should see his tenure at Motherwell under extreme scrutiny. But the failure to recognise his good work and positive contributions is petty in the extreme and utterly pathetic.

FCSB I think were Steaua Bucharest who we have played before. Back in the day when Paul Slane was our most promising young player. Wonder how his career would have turned out if he had stayed. Not any real Glamorous names and all likely to win although over a one legged tie at home maybe we can cause some problems. I guess we definitely want to avoid Basel and Copenhagen. A home tie too to keep costs down would be nice. All assumes we beat Coleraine, despite their heroics against Maribor they were still the lowest ranked side in the draw. It won’t be easy but was better than away to Gothenburg imho.
-
Also if we draw Gothenburg away I assume that would need to be played at a neutral venue or would we have to forfeit as Sweden is on the quarantine list ?
-
Not sure that is the case unless changed from last round. Team out the bowl first is at home. So a 50 /50 chance. You would have to think home tie v Torshavn is potentially the easiest with away tie v Gothenburg the toughest.

The problem is we are always likely to have one or two players making mistakes at crucial times and it seems to cost us every time. I saw we were 1-0 down and looked at the stats. Celtic 1 shot at goal ! I do not mind losing a game if the opposition are peppering our goal but we seem to concede far too often when opponents have just a handful of shots on goal. We never seem to have a game where opposition has 12 shots on goal and we have 2 and we win 1-0. Did not expect anything from Celtic Park but need to try and take 6 points from next 12 on offer. Will not be easy but if we do that we should not be at the bottom or at least within a point of teams above and we can start over again 2nd round of fixtures.
-
As did I. Certainly showed up well 2nd half in his only competitive appearance. I see Grimmy starts - ???? That defensive solidity we require at Celtic Park. Would love to be proved wrong but will not be surprised to see at least 1 goal come from a defensive blunder / lapse.
-
We have had a shit start to the season. That is fact. But I look at the games and on our performances we probably ought to have had at least 3 to 5 points more than we have. We were imho the better side v Hibs at Easter Rd and hey they are on 13 points and getting rave reviews. That does not mean we will turn everything around but with a bit more luck and better defending then we can start to get a couple of results and climb the table. I think Hibs and Aberdeen with finish top 4 but 5th gets a Euro place this year so should still be our aim.
-
Murphy confirmed to Hibs on season long loan with one year deal thereafter. Good signing for Hibs. Better than any of our wingers I would say.
-
Talk about stating the bloody obvious ! Although unlike the totally negative ninnie that you obviously are I will state that the 3 sides winning is best for us. Ross County, Dundee U and St Mirren have had decent starts to the season. Any of them getting a further 3 points ahead of us is worse than the 3 sides that are winning. Even after we lose to Celtic tomorrow we will still only be 2 wins away from matching Ross County on 8 points. I fully expect Hibs and Aberdeen to finish top 4 but even as shite as our league season has been so far 5th gets a Euro place and a long way to go yet.

Pass marks for Long, Polworth, Mugabi, ODonnell and Carson. For MOM between Long and Polworth. The latter shows he makes us tick sometimes and is more a creator of chances for others than even Turnbull was. Long had a very decent game. Granted the opposition was not great but he was back to causing the defence troubles running in behind and glad he got his goal. Watt for me also did well when he came on. Again less pressure when you are several goals to the good and v 10 men but a goal and more so his assist for Long meant it was a decent contribution. I will go for Long but by a bawhair over Polworth,

I think he has played well tonight
