  1. Comments on P&B that Turnbull has apparently turned down our contract offer. If true and that is a BIG if as only a rumour it is probably no surprise given the time that has past since he was reportedly offered a deal. Just our luck that a player we were going to get £3m + for will probably end up getting half that through no fault of ours. That assumes he is able to prove himself between now and end of season. Just hope we have some sort of gentlemen’s agreement with Celtic as otherwise they will do what Celtic do and put an insulting offer on the table.
  2. Very much this. Some people moan for the sake of moaning. Hearts have had a few very decent results recently. Beating Hibs and scoring 3 goals at Easter Rd is something we could only dream of. On P&B predictions thread I had us top of bottom half so the fact we can finish no lower than bottom of top half is very good. Would rather a draw between Dons and Hibs but in many ways Hibs, Livi and Killie losing has done us a huge favour. Livi and Hibs were picking up point and we want as much a gap between 4th and rest of the teams. Sooooo - Big up to the team and Manager for getting us in the top 6 with a bottom 6 budget. Big game on Friday. Lets do the sheepies.
  3. Watching Hibs v Hearts. Good result for us by the way but.... Moaning wee git Naismith on a yellow has committed two further fouls at least one of them a definite yellow. I should let it go but Long sent off at Hamilton was probably deserved and certainly stupid, but I have seen so many fouls akin to his second yellow in the past two weeks with nothing given. Lets hope it evens itself out...
  4. The way we are going it won’t matter who is in the final. But it would be just our luck if we finish 4th and one of the Edinburgh teams win the bloody thing. Still I think Celtic will probably end up winning - jinxed it now......
  5. It is just depressing we got knocked out of the cup to St Mirren based on their performance tonight. Even as shite as we are we would have given Aberdeen a tougher game. Just depressing....
  6. What you are saying is correct. The caveat is however we have been saying this for the past 2-3 weeks and keep blowing it big time. We fuck up here and genuinely believe our chances of top 4 are over. We need to get 3 points and get our season back on track.
  7. Probably because we are desperate for any confidence boost and he is still the best player we have in our squad. I agree any other player would probably get a couple of reserve games at least and who knows he may well get some reserve game time. In saying that it is clear to me we have been ultra cautious with our prized possession and goodness knows we could do with the pre injury Turnbull back in the team ASAP.
  8. I am I missing something. Why should Burrows explain anything ? This is a decision by Hamilton to price and grade our game the same as the Old Firm. Thinking we would always turn up as 2000+ supporters. WELL you know what pricing affects football too so get it right up Hamilton. As someone has mentioned it will end up costing them £20,000 + as a result this season. No doubt this decision has backfired on them. As for the Long sending off. Did not see him kick the ball away but his 2nd yellow was a mistimed tackle with no malice. Maybe it was a yellow but Scott Brown can make 20 of those tackles a game without a card. I would not exaggerate to say I see half a dozen of those tackles a game without a card. It was harsh on him imho. So would rather people got off his back.
  9. If it is the same ref as midweek then no surprise. He gave us little in that game also.
  10. 3 draws would do for sure now that we are down to 10 men for a full half of football. 1 game less to play and we still have game in hand. That said we will be lucky to get a draw one would think
  11. I am starting to think that Motherwell are modelling themselves on Scotland rugby team. Granted they are winning in Italy right now. But they seem to have mastered the art of self imploding and losing games when they should not. Not at the game but to get 2 yellows in a handful of minutes is peak stupid. A long way to go but that gives them the impetus and a definite advantage. A draw from here would be a decent result. Can we just stop being fannies for a wee while Motherwell
  12. I would go with that team. But whether Robinson does who knows. OHara should start. Maybe Hartley will get a stay of execution if he was actually unwell as reported. But personally I would go with Donnelly until he is suspended and then hopefully Dunne will be fit.
  13. I don’t want to be smarty pants or any of the sh1t. But I was delighted we signed O’Hara on loan. I always thought he played well against us whether for Dundee or Killie iirc. He has had a tough time breaking into the team because of Polworth, Campbell and Donnelly. But last few games I would have started him over either Campbell or Donnelly. We have a few injuries but so do Accies. Rice is saying they will be unrecognisable from the side that beat us before Xmas in terms of personnel. So we cannot use our injuries as an excuse. Hope to god Deccy is fit but was really impressed by Donnelly at the back in the 2nd half v St Mirren. He may not want to play there but I would play him alongside Gallacher until Dunne is fit. That way we can fit O’Hara in alongside Polworth and Campbell. Long unlikely to be fit so Watt to start. Penalty miss aside (I know it was crucial) I thought Hylton had a good game when he came on. I am missing next two games so 6 or 4 points is the least I expect as a result. Get us back on track for top 4.
  14. Just back in the door and I am drained after all that. However I am also surprisingly upbeat and I am actually in a more positive mood even though we lost on penalties. I am not a defeatist more a realist and figure even if we did manage to beat Aberdeen or Killie to make the semi (and that is a big if) we would probably meet one of the old firm and this team certainly would not be capable of beating either of them at Hampden. So lost revenue yes, but would rather finish top 4 even if that looks unlikely after tonight. I like everybody was livid at HT. Awful performance and I thought our season was over as if we played like that again we would never win another game this season and be lucky to stay top 6. In some ways not a surprise as when I heard the line up and heard Mugabi and McIver starting I was worried. I like Hartley. But he was not good enough to get in the team last season and he was really poor tonight. Mugabi is little better. In some ways a performance like that will maybe help make the Manager see sense and takes appropriate steps. Donnelly did better at centre half than either of our starting centre half’s. I am afraid Hartleys time is up with us. I thought Watt came on to a game and did not hide and took his goal well. So that is a positive. I also though O’Hara was very good when he came on and I would have probably started him. Tait also had a good game. Would like to see him keep his place in the side. Shame to hear that Caroll looks to have a sore one and will be out for a while. I also think had Caroll not gone of injured he would have taken a penalty. I think we all knew Hylton would likely miss.... Disappointed but in a better frame mind than at HT. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways in the league and try and finish this season positively.
  15. Who knows. One of the best kept secrets. That said I have just seen a tweet from the club advertising the game. Truth is that the forecast for next few days / weekend / next week is little better than now so I expect the game to go ahead even if it ends up ruining our lovely pitch :-(
  16. 94th minute equaliser for Ross County. The lord giveth and he taketh away :-)
  17. And he scores again..maybe we should have tried to get him back on loan...
  18. Before winter break we were full of confidence and now we seem bereft of it. Clearly a few poor defeats will do that but we need to get our mojo back ASAP. Gillespie has been solid this season but he was certainly culpable for the 1st goal even if Donnelly (I think it was) had a part to play. The latter has gone off the boil for me and is starting to resemble the player we had last season. Gallacher has been a great signing but a few times his ability or attempts to play football at the wrong time are costing us. Again (based on highlights) he loses the ball playing out in the last minute and the rest well. Thought it might have been an own goal. But 93rd minute is painful. I also think our luck has run out. We have been winning games when opposition has had more chances than St Johnstone last night but failing to take them. My concern is up front. Watt is clearly not up to speed and we have no other real option apart from Long. Even St Mirren seem to have better striker options than we do and that is on the management and recruitment side. I accept we have a modest budget but so do St Mirren. Not panicking yet, but if we fail to get through in the cup and only manage to take 2-3 points or none in the next 2 games then we are really stuck in reverse. We are right to take time with Turnbull recovery but I am now thinking if he could have been ready to play next few weeks that would help us. Still we were well clear in 3rd or 4th so there was no urgency back then.
  19. Next 4 games are vital, but especially the next 2 as we play St Mirren and Accies and the other teams in the top half either play each other or one of the old firm. It is not looking likely but 6 points would probably see us back in 3rd with a bit of a gap over Hibs and Livi if results go our way. Of course that assumes we can get our shit together. We seemed to have found the knack of grinding out wins without playing that well. Well our luck has run out in that respect. I would have had Polworth if for Donnelly based on Saturday. Yes he is lightweight but he is the only real creative player we have in midfield. God what I/we would do to have a fully fit Turnbull in that team.... Shite night all told.
  20. Must have been the last kick of the game virtually. We are doing our level best to fuck this season up.
  21. Mind with Hibs and Livi winning we could do with a win. The two of those teams have been catching up with us and Aberdeen. Livi do have a tough run of to finish the pre split fixtures plus they win at home and lose away. But we need to try and maintain the gap as much as possible. We just don’t seem to be able to click. We are scrambling through games and this has caught up with us recently. Fingers crossed we get at least a draw but a win would be the dogs bollox.
  22. Whilst it would be great to have our own training facilities we need to be careful as you need to consider not just the cost of building but also maintaining. It may take a few years but in time we would need to keep investing on upkeep as well as in the actual stadium whether at Fir Park or elsewhere. Very pleased with our current state, but as many have mentioned including opposing fans the real proof is when we suffer blips along the way. Listening to Robbo on today’s press conference it sounds like we are about to have a gap in terms of real prospects coming through from the youth set up - he actively refers to the under 14’s as having the next batch. So once Turnbull is sold assuming he is then we are probably reliant on player sales like Kipre and Moult from trading Lowe leagues - Gallacher possibly.
  23. Could have been a LOT worse. Although I wonder if we play better away from home these days. Still need to win the replay but short of having ICT or possibly St Johnstone that is probably best we could hope for. On paper Hearts but glad we avoided them. Nice to get a home tie for a change.
  24. Just about to say the same. Maybe just me but as much as I like Grimmy he is very weak defensively. Twice in the 2nd half in quick succession St Mirren put the ball across our six yard box. No takers but it was all so easy. Stop the fkin crosses or at least try to do a better job at it because it was embarrassing. A draw was probably fair. We maybe edged it but they seem to think they had a good penalty shout. As for the non free kick on Rolando. WTF. I stand to be corrected but that looked an appalling decision from the ref. Ah well 3 games in short order v St Mirren. Felt the weather was a bit of a leveller today and it is another game for Rolando and 1st appearance from Watt.
