  1. I will live to regret this but I think Donnelly will actually turn out to be a very decent player for us. There is something about him and I think as a defensive midfielder he will do us a turn. Watch him go down south for £2m at Xmas :-)
  2. Please make it be true. Never wanted him to end up with either of the old firm. But that is twice now I have been elated to hear he was not Celtic bound. On that basis I expect an official announcement he is joining Celtic any moment now.....
  3. I think we should all calm down until we find out what is actually going on. I know that is saying something coming from me..... I am quite sure that we will not capitulate in negotiations. They will either work in our favour or we will move on. If he has got a knee problem or similar then to be fair to Celtic they should come back and renegotiate. Not on the original sum but how it is paid. It all depends how serious the issue is or could be. If they say we pay £2m now and £1m based on successful op and or appearances then you would expect Motherwell to do something similar were the roles reversed. However if they are trying to pay nothing up front or agree a large reduction then jog on. It needs to be sorted today one way or another now it is all over the media. Not doing us or the player any favours. Not if we cannot reach agreement with Celtic and it affects any future transfer.
  4. God knows what is going on but something seems not quite what it should be. It looks like Gary Mackay Steven signed for New York City in less time that it is taking for Turnbull to be officially unveiled as a Celtic player. I don’t know if having a second scan is normal if that is what is happening or if something abnormal has shown up from initial scan. I would still prefer he went anywhere than to Celtic (not Rangers), but not if jeopardises a £3m+ windfall for the club. Whole thing is just dragging out....
  5. If so could you promise not to post on this forum also. It is depressing stuff. You are a very sensitive soul..... Like Kmcalpin I have followed Motherwell for as long as I remember and whilst I am not as old as he is :-) I would not dream of supporting another club or not going to see Motherwell. I don’t like it but selling our better players has always been a thing. I still believe that selling Turnbull for £3.25m + add ons will prove to be a bargain for Celtic. That said the club could not gamble with that kind of money on offer. Knowing our luck he would get an injury and we could be accepting a lot less. But I do agree with Brazilian. Assuming everything is signed and sealed then for the near future we should not be in a rush to sell ANY of our promising youngsters. I accept you cannot force people to sign contracts. I do not know the background to the McKinstry move, but £400k (potentially) is still a lot of money to MFC and this was before Hastie and Turnbull so could be understood. This lad that is said to be interesting West Ham and other premiership clubs (McAleer ?) let him develop like Turnbull with us. We have a fanatical fan base but it is small. We cannot run on gate receipts so every year we need to finish mid table and have a cup run or sell a player to break even. The way it is and always will be unless Jeff Bezos takes a liking to MFC.
  6. I wish it was........ Club still get the money, but turning down the Premiership albeit with a team that will be amongst the favourites for relegation. Christ knows how he is ever going to win over the mob from the east end of Glasgow. Sure there is a rational explanation but right now it looks as if this has been a utter mess. Somewhat surprised Celtic improved offer after pulling out......they deserve each other. Probably sign for Southampton tomorrow
  7. Sky reporting that Turnbull set to sign for Celtic - WTF. I give up !!!!
  8. Love the away kit and for once the collar does not detract in any way. Might have to buy a couple for the years to come. If we could get without any sponsor would be braw.
  9. I would imagine most Well fans think like this. No one is claiming he will definitely make the grade in terms of Premiership but he certainly has the potential. I accept that comparing English league / transfers is a non starter, but if Liverpool are prepared to pay Swansea £18m for a young player that scored 4 goals last season then I am utterly bemused no one from down south is prepared to take him on board as a relatively low risk / cost given his impact and awards last season. Hey ho.
  10. Would be fantastic if true. But again appears to be at odds with our CEO stating that no other club has shown that they are prepared to match the Celtic offer. I would like to think if there was an outside chance of someone like Man City paying us £3m+ and loaning us back for a season Flow and the Board would be all over that. Interesting week ahead. If he has not signed for Celtic tomorrow or Tuesday then I think that will probably be that.
  11. Well as of late last week we as a club accepted Celtics offer of £3.25m + £0.25m + sell on fee of circa 15%. You would have thought if they or any other English club were serious they would have matched that offer straight away. Burrows has said on record that it was looking v unlikely that any other English club were prepared to meet our valuation. That may well change and early next week. I don’t want him to go to Celtic, but I also do not want the club to potentially miss out on £3.5m. Sure he could start the season on fire and go for more. Or he could get an injury or this whole episode could affect his performances... At least it is giving us some entertainment before friendlies and League cup.
  12. From where Johnstone ? You are not normally a bullshitter, but if true surprised none of the media have picked up on it yet. If some team met our fee and loaned us him back that would be the ideal scenario, but also the most unlikely one sadly. Celtic fans are turning against the idea now as he has has the audacity to say no. Something does not add up. Turnbull does not strike me as the type of guy that is on circa £1000 per week and would demand more than £10,000 as is being reported in most of the papers. Some soap opera this is turning out to be.
  13. This is only good news if it happens and more importantly a club down south are prepared to match or exceed Celtics offer. Win win all round if that happens. But if the deal does not go through then one or two clubs may try it on and put in an offer lower than Celtics. I don’t want him to go there but I want most amount of money..
  14. Maybe not, but he also knows he will likely feature in Scotland squads straight away. Increase his salary by many multiples and more importantly win silverwear which he would not do anywhere else down south apart from top 5 or 6. It is a good deal for us. Potentially £3.5m (with achievable add ons) + a sell on clause that could eventually net us in excess of £4m in total. Still think it undervalued him, but that is based on what a selling club down south would get if he had a similar season, rather than reality of the situation that he is playing for Motherwell in Scottish league.
  15. It is like I have been in a deep sleep and awoken to fine out that we have by far and away the best youth development in the top flight. A long way to go to get the money Hibs and DDee United got for their crop of starlets but we are making a decent fist of it. Turnbull could end up earning us £4m + if he is sold on. Gutted he has gone but we cannot turn that kind of money down. But you have Premiership and Championship clubs fighting over players I have not heard of. £400k for McKinstry and now Reece McAlear interesting West Ham and Leicester if today’s news is to b believed. Kudos to our wee club. I got to assume Craigan deserves some credit for this. Long may it continue. As a fan owned club we rely on this type of revenue. Would love all these players to realise their potential with us, but equally pleased and proud of this news coverage over the past month or two.
  16. I would rather that was with us. I am hoping the media coverage and interest will push the fee north of £3m. He has the ability to become a mainstay of premiership clubs perhaps outside the top 6 or so. Whether he does or not who knows. But right now he has had as much coverage if not more than Robertson and McGinn at that age. Split their potential transfer fees and you would not get much change out of £30m each. God I would love him to stay. The frenzy that appears to be unfolding suggests that is highly unlikely..
  17. My only thought on seeing that - is surely they could have used a better photo to promote this news. I mean how is that going to entice new fans into Fir Park. In fact I think they should have used models so as not to scare away the future Motherwell supporters :-)
  18. Just seen news of a defender going from Bristol City to Bournemouth for £13 fkin million. I am sure he is a good player as an under 21 England international. But I mean is he as good as Turnbull May turn out to be. 15 goals from midfield as a 19 yr old having not played all season is outrageous. Same goals as a striker for Celtic in Edouard who reputedly cost £8m or thereabouts. Time we stood up and said feck off to low ball numbers. We have the best young player in Scotland. Possibly beyond that. Lets play hardball and blow our transfer record out the water.
  19. Why bother Yorkyred. I mean seriously why bother responding.... Only encourages him or her who rarely has a positive thing to say about our great club. A season with 50+ points is a decent return based on our budget. Will miss quite a few of the players leaving, but always like freshness new players bring. I thought Donnelly started OK. Not half as bad as I was expecting. Hope we have Turnbull at least until Xmas, but that depends on what if any offers come in. Anything less than £2.5m + healthy sell on fee can get tae f*ck. It is genuinely a joy watching him. Last time I felt this way about a Motherwell player was Faddy.
  20. I don’t disagree with a lot of what you say in your post above. But my point is and always has been that generally you find that teams with greater resources can buy better standard of player, which guess what generally determines where they finish in the league. We can all wish that we challenged for top 6 and Europe and people can point to what Killie have achieved. Killie appointed a very good Manager but also have an average wage circa 30% higher than ours. Hearts are running a player budget which is at least twice that of Motherwell's. Unless we get a wealthy benefactor back on board or unless Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen make a monumental mess of player recruitment and we get extremely lucky then I am expecting us to be battling with St Johnstone, Killie and ?? for a Top 6 spot.
  21. What I love is people getting their knickers in a twist in a season where we have finished comfortably away from relegation and could yet finish season on 50+ points. Demands almost that we finish top 6 are laughable and based on what exactly ?.. I am not saying don’t reach for the sky, but FFS at least realise and accept we are reportedly working with the 3rd lowest budget in the league and in fact any Manager that gets us above 9th is doing more than our finances dictate. We have a huge rebuilding job again in the summer and I would be happy having Robinson in charge of achieving that.
