2018/2019 Game 37:St Johnstone (A) May 11th 3pm Kick off
Welldaft Mk1 replied to David's topic in Club Chat
Did not know it was as low as that Dave. Not seen actual figures but I thought we still owed Hutchison circa £600k alone ? The other point I have mentioned on here before is that I am fairly certain that we are obliged to pay a % of transfer fees to Boyle and Hutchison - again not sure if exact amount but I have seen 60% or around that figure mentioned. But no obligation to pay from development fees so any money we receive for Hastie and / or Cadden should be the clubs to utilise. -
The 'Magnificent' David Turnbull Discussion Thread
Welldaft Mk1 replied to sailor_h's topic in Club Chat
It is the players that vote though ? Most pundits and fans of other clubs that I have read and heard pretty much expected Turnbull to win. Feel sorry for the lad, but in many ways I would rather have him at Fir Park for another season, so happy if this outcome keeps him under the radar a little longer. Unlikely but...... -
I take exception to the above post only in that McHugh was for me the best player we had on the pitch. I had money in Turnbull for anytime goalscorer, 1st and last goalscorer so was quite happy when Frear fked up I should have known I would regret that. Disappointing to not be going to Perth next week above them in the table. We were all asking for youth to be given a chance and they were. As a result we lost momentum in last 15 minutes but to fair the St Mirren goal was a belter. And I almost don’t grudge them that with a decent support.
-
St Mirren will be up for it and so they should be. But we have won 6 of last 7 home league games. The only defeat being against Rangers. I believe we have better players in most positions and therefore if the players are at it then we should avoid defeat. As for the nothing to play for crap. £62,000 and top of bottom 6 for 2nd year running is worth achieving. Hopefully Turnbull turns it on again.

2018/2019 Game 35:Dundee (H) April 27th 3pm Kick off
Welldaft Mk1 replied to daver's topic in Club Chat
Most enjoyable game of the season for me. Down to 10 men and yet last minute deserved winner. Some great football if also some dodgy defending. Quite a bizarre game none more so than when the linesman ruled out the penalty. Need to see a replay but looked in play from the main stand. Turnbull is quite magnificent. A boy with a special talent. Quite probably the best young player I have seen watching Motherwell for over 40 years. Been done to death but around 3300 home fans. It is a small miracle we are able to produce a conveyor belt of talent based on those crowds. Appreciate it is Easter still and little to play for but that is a piss poor turnout. I would happily pay my season ticket / admission money to see David Turnbull alone whilst we have him, because sadly it may not be for long. -
I suspect most if not all the negativity is because of his likely destination. Still to be officially confirmed but if it is Rangers then that angers most of us. Simply because we don’t want him to be a success there and more so for them to reap a bigger windfall as a result. Edit - weeyin beat me to it If he went down south virtually all would be wishing him well with his future. I also believe that the club are quite happy with this outcome assuming we get nearer the reported £400k in compensation due. If I recall 60% or so of a transfer fee goes to our former owners. It may apply to compensation from Hastie but I doubt it. So for the club to get a similar amount from a transfer it would have to be near enough £1m ! Of course if we do take in £1m from McKinstry, Hastie and Cadden i hope we may opt to pay some outstanding monies if we can afford too.

2018/2019 Game 34:Hamilton (A) April 20th 3pm Kick off
Welldaft Mk1 replied to Neilwell86's topic in Club Chat
Just seen the highlights. Wow Grimmy :-( Match reports said short passback. That is being kind. He passed straight to the Accies player. Still as Robbo said he has been on the whole very good these past few months. Shame it lest St J steal a march on 7th. Still we win the next 4 games and that is where we will finish. -
2018/2019 Game 34:Hamilton (A) April 20th 3pm Kick off
Welldaft Mk1 replied to Neilwell86's topic in Club Chat
More pressure on Accies than our team today. It may work in our favour it may not. I would like to think we have a better team overall so if we play to a decent level we should not lose. 7th is the target and not finishing the season on a low after a run of defeats. I also think it is player of the year dinner tonight. Sure the players would like to go there on the back of a decent performance and hopefully a win. -
Kipre sent off v Leeds after only 13 minutes. Handball on line. Not seen replay. Shame

2018/19 Game 33: Rangers (H) April 7th 12.30pm Kick Off
Welldaft Mk1 replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Due to work commitments I had to make do with watching on the box. Up until the self destructive first 2 goals we were comfortable and passing the ball around. Had 60% possession at one point. You cannot legislate for 2 defensive blunders gifting their 2 goals. It is exactly why we are in the bottom half. Some decent young players who are better than bottom half jobbers but not full internationals even if they are for the most part past their sell by date. A bad day at the office. We move on and try to win bottom half trophy for 2nd year in a row.. -

We would be aswell just scoring the goals for them. Save them the hassle. Playing OK but defensive blunders have cost us big time..... -
2018/19 Game 30: Hibs (A) March 16th 3pm kick off
Welldaft Mk1 replied to texanwellfan's topic in Club Chat
Looked like a decent defensive block. Was not there but we seemed to have given away a couple of soft goals. BBC stats have us edging possession and 1 more shot on target. So maybe not such a car crash but defo end of our top 6 hopes. Not the end of the world given where we were pre Xmas but a bit of a knock to our good run. Lets win bottom half trophy for 2nd season in a row.... -
2018/19 Game 30: Hibs (A) March 16th 3pm kick off
Welldaft Mk1 replied to texanwellfan's topic in Club Chat
Bummer.... we needed to win this game to have an outside chance of top 6 so to get 3 goals without reply is rather unrealistic. Take a draw now. I blame the weather. We are a silky skilful side. This cold rainy day messes with our tippy tappy football.... Barring a miracle looking to finish top of the bottom half. -
I never heard any booing from my seat in the East Stand, albeit it is a few sections down from the Well Bois. That and when he was on the ball on the touch line nearest there were only chants of encouragement for the lad. It comes down to the fact if he goes to Rangers. Like it or not they are in my opinion a vile club. If he went down south it would still hurt but would make it more palatable. Of course he may be a Rangers fan and if I was offered 3 to 4 times money to play for Well I could imagine the pull.
-
Where does the £1m come from ? Mckinstry was reputedly up to £300k. No was would we get £700k for development fee for Hastie
-
The facts are that very few fans if any on here know the truth around Hastie. It could be as mentioned we did not have the money to offer contracts until after the last window when quite a number of players moved on inc Bowman and Bigi. Has the latter featured for Hibs yet ? Or it could be that as mentioned the club don’t rate Hastie as much as his recent performances suggest they should and are happy to get a decent development fee. Or we have very little money and could do with the Development fee. What I do find odd is that many red tops and now Kris Boyd are saying it is all but a done deal to Rangers and you have the lad himself saying that NO talks have taken place. How can anyone by offered a contract if no talks have taken place. Unless he means he has not held talks but of course his agent has. Maybe they are waiting until after the game today. It is a good distraction from Brexit, but it is starting to take as long to get a final resolution. I think we would all rather know one way or the other and just move on.
-
I agree with the final paragraph. I don’t blame Hastie if he decides to leave. He appears to have a multitude of options after a purple patch and most if not all will offer more money and security. Even if he does decide to go as looks likely he does not deserve any vitriol. It would be disappointing as we have nurtured him over the past 10 years. It is not bitterness but I simply would not play him. Play players that are coming through or in with a chance of being here next year. That in my humble opinion is more sensible option than what may end up being a bitter experience for both club and player. I have seen Robinson’s comments. So either the Sun has jumped the gun or someone is not telling him the whole truth. God knows which is true. Fun and games.
-
That is an interesting take on matters. Perhaps being bundled out of the cup in the 1st round has forced our hand. The other aspect about development fee is that our previous owners are technically not due a cut whereas if it was a transfer..... It still seems v strange to me if the above is true. Why would the club offer less to Hastie than James Scott. Plus the fact it is Rangers means will we see all money due ! If he does continue at same pace and it is a big if, he would have gone for £1-£2m whereas now we will be lucky to get £3-400k. All supposition and as if to add insult to injury I see he has just picked up player of the month award......
-
I suspect he is a lot more grounded than Slane. I also suspect if he has what it takes he will make it regardless of his next move. I don’t blame the lad if this is true and again I feel we have made a mess of not offering him a contact earlier whatever anyone says. Would I still play him. On current form hard to leave out, but I fear the fans may not take too it well... I would never boo him or anything like that, but nor would I be too unhappy if he was left out. still speculation of course but no smoke without fire as the saying goes.
-
A lot of gullible people on these threads. At the end of the day money talks. He has probably been offered anything up to 5+ times the money we have offered him. I understand the argument that no one knew the impact he was going to have, but I still feel we left it far too late and would it have been such a gamble to give him a 1 or 2 year contract earlier in the year. If this one goes ahead then I hope the club have learned a valuable lesson. I am not bitter but if this move is all but done I am firmly in the play someone else camp until the end of the season. Not in the huff but unless it affects our compensation payment time to move on......
-
It would be easier to name the clubs that have not reputedly been linked with Hastie. Why would they be interested. Because even if we get £300k compensation that is peanuts for most clubs. Shame if he leaves and tbh I thought as soon as he started banging in 30 yarders there was every chance he would. Of course he would like to stay. But there are probably now far too many options and lots of money on offer. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but I do tend to agree that we ought to have seen enough to offer him a 1 year deal a while ago. As has been rightly mentioned we have offered some extensions that are bewildering. Time will tell but not looking overly positive......

2018/19 Game 27: Celtic (A) Sunday 24th February 3.00pm Kick Off
Welldaft Mk1 replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
Main injured in training yesterday or something else if you believe the conspiracists....... Great that we have so many youngsters involved, but also worried that is too much inexperience for Parkhead against full internationals. Good to see Scott start and Hope we perform but I see Main missing as a negative. -
I doubt it. I think that Hastie could command a much bigger transfer fee if he can maintain his current form even sporadically. It is true that we pay a hefty % of transfer fee to previous owners and that is not the case with a development fee or so I believe. But would be in all our interests to settle with previous owners ASAP. At least if he does not sign we will get a return for our investment but a much smaller one than could be the case. We shall see. But I almost want him to be anonymous v Celtic rather than him scoring the winner. Almost.....
-
There was also a scout for Birmingham City at game v Hearts. Sadly the chances are Hastie’s agent has had any one of a number of English and Scottish clubs offering him a deal. Based on his recent performances and type of goals he has scored he is the name on everyone’s lips at the moment. He has been offered a contract by us but that is now another week past and nada. He wants to stay but he will likely have more attractive and lucrative options by now. His agent is probably only doing his job by securing the best deal for Hastie. Whether we budge or not who knows. But the longer it goes unsigned the less optimistic I am.
