  1. Sadly this would not surprise me. I think he is the best keeper in the top flight after maybe Gordon and Lewis and I would still take him over Lewis. Arguable he has been our best signing in the summer and he is good for at least 1 if not 2 saves a game that you wonder if the likes of Griffiths and certainly Samson would make. We know the answer for the latter ! Hopefully just a rumour. If not £1m or f*ck off
  2. I think you actually answer your own Q. It is not just the volume of players but the commercial options available to a club like Motherwell. Let’s face it we are operating in the football equivalent of Poundland. On that basis I would expect more misses than hits. In fact I would say that Robinson and our scout(s) have done a very good job with the 2nd lowest wages in the top flight. To get us to a final and top 6 given the turnover of players is almost miraculous. Good luck to Fisher. I was not unhappy when he joined as a striking option but has not worked out. Not to say it won’t at Yeovil if that is where he ends up. I keep mentioning that Northampton let Moult go not long before he joined us. Main, Aldred and Ciftci were all P1ss poor according to their ex club fans. So far they have all done Ok in the last 2 games. Some players fit certain clubs / Managers / Atmospheres etc.
  3. I am sure Bet Park are fairly chuffed also ! Great video. Kudos to the media team for that. 1.6m views is immense. But above all else this is fantastic news that Hartley has signed on for 2.5 years.
  4. True Wish we could have a negative free week but that would get rid of half the posters on here Makes my eyes bleed. Almost as if some want us to fail so they can wallow in their perpetual misery
  5. I agree with this. In my opinion his career with us could be described in 3 parts - decent / sh1t / decent. No doubt his performances end of last season have stuck in the mind for some, but I felt he performed well in various stages in his career with us inc before he was sold to Sheffield Utd this season. He knows the club and will or ought to take less time to settle. Plus there should be a wee bit of goodwill given he earned us £400k into the bargain if we manage to secure him for the 2nd half of this season. Not sure it will happen mind.
  6. Sun confirming Robinson is after Ben Henaghan on loan but Ben has many options so it chances of it happening may be less than 50/50. Also stating we have bounce game on Saturday lined up against Osterunds. Swedish club if I recall that have come from nowhere to the Europa League Group stages. Wonder where that is taking place ?
  7. In this case 2 negatives do not sadly make a positive. You can address this season (so far) in a hundred different ways. Some posters (without naming names) dwell on the negative each and every post virtually. Whilst there is always truisms and merit in their posts and valid points they are simply far too negative. I am amazed at what certain fans expect from a player budget which if recent media articles are to be be believed put us as the 2nd lowest payers in the league and only above Accies by £1000 PA. For me I do not expect a squad full of players that are fantastic footballers in each and every game. Ya Bezzer may not like our current model, but we have been far more successful of late than virtually every other club in the top flight (barring Celtic) at bringing in transfer money. Which for a fan owned club is vitally important to survive. If I was offered a cup final and 2 points off 6th place come the winter break I would have grabbed at that with both hands. I am quite sure 95% of fans would have too. I fully accept the form of late has been poor and if not corrected will yet again risk our top flight presence, but we will only know that as we come towards end of Feb and into March. I have been watching the Well since 1974 - albeit not every week until the 90s but to say the football played this season is up with the worst is in my humble opinion nonsense. Up until we were missing the best part of half our team we were a match for everyone bar Celtic. Moult will be a huge loss and unlikely we will manage to replace him. Let see what the transfer window brings and try to stay positive even if that concept is beyond a few posters.......
  8. I accept recent league form has been woeful. But if we can avoid relegation then getting nearly £2m into the club this season more than budgeted for is far more important. Those 3 games v Celtic in less than a week destroyed our momentum and gave us injuries to our 4-5 most important players. Catch 22. If we do not reach the semi and final of the cup I don’t think we pick up as few points as we have. Cut Robinson some slack. We are now in a position where most things are going against us as oppose to everything going for us. Even Accies game being postponed tonite means they will be fresher than us come Saturday. The usual suspects on here will p1ss their pants and start questioning the Managers position. What we need now is fans to stay loyal and see what happens after the Jan transfer window.
  9. 3-1 up now. So unless we score we will b bottom 6. Clearly and simply cannot cope with 4 best players missing. One is away but to miss both Hartley and Carson is a major blow. Sounds like Griffiths could have done better with 1st goal like midweek. Who knows whether Carson would have done better but I have a feeling he might well have done.... Still time to go but 3 defeats in a week to teams that were below us is a mini slump to be sure
  10. For once I do actually agree with a lot of what Ya Bezzer says. But I also think that is an excellent and well thought out response. Losing arguably our 4 best players is too much for a team with our size of squad. I went along on Saturday and it was turgid from both sides. One of the only times this season I wish I had not bothered. Heading to Firhill tomorrow and hoping for better. But I suspect Moult and Cadden are defo out and if Hartley is as well as Carson then it could be a long night again. Hope not and that the latter 2 make it or that the fringe players step up and prove that we are not a one man team.
  11. Have seen the goals over on Pie & Bovril Last 3 were very poor not least Taits assist for the 4th
  12. To be fair we have done very well to make a decent fist of it for 2 out of the 3 games given the gulf in resources. Looking forward to Hearts and Partick away. These types of games will decide our fate this season and not games at Porkheid.
  13. At least other results seem to be going in our favour. Our season starts again next Saturday.
  14. Doing our level best to blow our positive goal difference !!!!
  15. You are entitled to your opinion. So am I. You dont half post some miserable shite
  16. If I recall we were given 13,500 with a promise of up to 15,000 should we sell our initial allocation ? So if we have sold just over 10,000 does that mean there will be up to 3000 empty seats. Bit of a brass neck if that is the situation ! I get the prices are steep, I get it is ONLY the league cup and I get it is Celtic unbeaten in 60+ domestic games we are playing. But it is a final and in my 50 years I will (after Sunday) have only been to 4 finals if I recall. One in every 12 or so years!
  17. Probably merits a separate thread and will no doubt get one. I suspect if we get £500k we will sell Moult in Jan transfer window. One assumes we would have another target lined up. Whoever it is will struggle to match the impact of Louis. Like following Fergie at Man U ! We turned down £350k in the summer we are led to believe and thank Christ neither Aberdeen or Rangers or anyone else were willing to meet our asking price. We have made the that amount and more from the Betfred Cup run. So a good decision it turns out. Who is to say there wont be a similar impact in New year. If we get a decent run in Scottish cup and finish 2-3 places up the league that would take care of any transfer fee. But it may be too much to expect same again. £500k is still a significant chunk of money for Motherwell. The good news is we are unlikely to let him leave for less and any interested clubs would now know that. The money from League cup, Celtic Champions league Marvin sell on means we are under no pressure. That said we have project Brave to fund for the foreseeable future. If he goes you just hope it is not to one of the ugly 2 up here.
  18. They score - game over Bizarre. We have been OK in defence so far this season. Was hoping these types of a result were a thing of the past - bar maybe Celtic. betfred cup final could be fun.... Would like us to score a goal or two to restore some respectability !!
  19. Seems like it has been even - we have had better possession We have had chances - offside goal and Hartley hitting the bar. They have 2 shots and 2 goals Seems a bit tough but better we concede 2 in 1st half hour and not last half hour. Next goal crucial assuming there is one. We score game on. They score - game over !
  20. That is fair comment if they are targeting people who are not already contributors past and present to the Well Society. But I am both and I would be interested in buying shares, but even for me there comes a point where I am looking for something more tangible than a share certificate which I believe I already have from the past. If they are serious about raising £500k then as previously stated they do need to clarify a few significant points before people will stump up more than say a token £50 or a £100.
  21. They are genuine questions in my opinion. I accept they will unlikely ever pay a dividend or be quoted like Celtic but....... There are so many questions to be answered. A lot of people like the idea of holding shares and would be prepared to pay £50 for the novelty. But if for the sake of argument someone wanted to buy a significant amount. I would want to know how much this £500k represents of the club share capital ? Is it 10% or 20%. So if someone wanted to buy £25k worth does that mean they own 1% of Motherwell Football Club ? The Well Society may last the test of time, but what if someone pitches up in the future and wants to buy the club from the Well Society and individual shareholders. Would they get 1% (citing my example above) of the monies paid. That is how investments work - even if this is principally an emotional investment more than anything else. Too many questions remain unanswered for would be serious investors.
  22. Interesting couple of names added if to be believed ? A certain Les Hutchison has donated the largest sum so far @ £200 which if it is the man is the equivalent of £400 for the Well Society. Also a Kieran Tierney which is it obviously a borrowed name or is it ?
  23. Pretty much this. McGinn and McGeouch would start every week for us. Bowman and in particular Moult had an off day today. The subs made a difference and there was a point I though we would get something 2nd half. Tanner is a great wee footballer and was a positive 2nd half. Dan was probably the best striker which says something given he came on 2nd half. Like most this was the end of a very busy and draining week. Hibs played Saturday / Tuesday so both days earlier than us. Not the key reason we lost but must have played a part. Delighted where are come end of October. Still 4th (until midweek) and in a cup final. That will do nicely.
  24. Almost like Steven Thompson who I am sure has yet to tip us to win a game this season. Not one and he has Hibs at 2-1. We have won 6 games in the league ffs. It is almost as if his predictions are having an opposite voodoo affect. Long may it continue.
  25. Just back. First 20-25 minutes were great. We played very good football and really should have been 2 or 3 goals ahead. Then we sat back and let Dundee come into the game. Next 60 minutes pretty even. Yes we probably had the clearer cut chances but we did let Dundee bombard our box with crosses. I got a sense they may score from one eventually. Thankfully they did not and again Carson was a rock at the back. Thought Frear was best of the so called 2nd string. Tanner too and was surprised when he was taken off at Fisher expense. Fisher has the height but imho Tanner is a better footballer. Fisher did not do much wrong but never showed enough that he would be starting ahead of Bowman. Other notable incidents were their disallowed goal which looked a bit iffy and what I thought was a clear pen for us for a push on Tait in the box. Great 3 points but concerned at Hartley hobbling off and had ice pack on his leg
