League Cup 2017'18 Next: Celtic F (Hampden) 26/11/17 15:00

I am sure for the Scottish Cup Final v Celtic we got 17,000 tickets or thereabouts and they got the rest minus of course VIP and Sponsors etc. Expect same to happen again. That would give them 33,000 instead of 25,000. At least we will only be outnumbered 2-1 rather than the 4-1 last Sunday. I am more concerned by the continual sniping about our aggressive tactics. I cannot remember too many bad challenges other than the elbow from Bowman that went unpunished. But then same happened to Moult. It looked worse for the Rangers player because it was his nose. Brendan Rogers getting in quick to clearly put pressure on final referee. Which inevitably means we will be under more scrutiny than them - job done. So Scott Brown can half one of our players and get a talking too. Whereas Bowman leans into someone and it is a red card and 5 year ban ! -

Here we go..... I am trying to keep calm and think whatever happens happens, but it would be awesome if we can get to the final. Rangers are still imho slight favourites. You don't spend £10m in the summer on the likes of Dorrans and Jack and Morelos without being 2nd favourites in the league at least. Regardless we have a lot more about us this season. But we do need to turn up and not get carried away by the occasion. Also hope that the ref has a good game and not swayed by a crowd which is 4-5 times our size ! Whatever happens it has been a great start to the season and the club has brought in more money than we could have hoped for. Mon the Wel. -

Would have hoped with the form we are in more would want to see us beat Rangers this weekend. Still 7-8000 is twice our average homer crowd. I am sure I read Hibs had only shifted 9000 or so tickets. I expect both gates to be around 40,000. Very much doubt the h**s will sell 38,000 tickets. Still 80,000 x say average £20 divided by 4 is not too shabby -

If we have sold near enough 9000 then that very much reflects on the feel good factor and recent results and performances. Very decent effort. Hopefully shift a few more between now and Sunday -

They generally do and most often v Old firm not in our favour. Money wise fine if they sell 38,000 tickets. Not bothered by that, but I am bothered that 38,000 can shout louder than say 8000 for a penalty ! Let's see who the ref is. Beaton and the game is a bogey. Steve McLean would be my choice -
Scottish Premiership Game 9: Accies (A) Saturday 14/10/17
Welldaft Mk1 replied to CoF's topic in Club Chat
Were you at the game ? Nobody is incapable of finding their seat. I did yesterday and someone was sitting in it. He also mentioned he had been told to sit anywhere. So to avoid aggro I found another seat and then told someone else the same thing when they came to sit in their allocated seat. That is no-ones fault apart from Accies and their stewards. If they are going to adopt such an approach they are as well printing 2000+ tickets with no rows or seat numbers and saying 1st come 1st served basis. Then everyone would know where they stood. -
Scottish Premiership Game 9: Accies (A) Saturday 14/10/17
Welldaft Mk1 replied to CoF's topic in Club Chat
Again everything pretty much covered in previous posts. Hard to criticise level of football on that abysmal excuse for a football pitch. Dunne did not play well. At least 3 times he tried to take the ball past an Accies player only to lose possession and each time they could have capitalised. Nothing against the guy per se. He is fit and athletic but he is the weakest signing from the summer. Hammell would not have been risked on that pitch but reamianis to be seen who plays left back v h**s. The biggest mystery is why all Well fans are not backing Hartley to score goals. I took £160 profit today for anytime and last goalscorer. Cashed out after 65 minutes or it would have been £100 more -

We are in good form and I also believe that if we play like we have been, we have a good chance of an upset (in the media's eyes) a week tomorrow. I am heading along with a great deal of hope, but I have done that many times before. No offence to Dezz but you only had too look at his post a few above to see the comment "we have nothing to fear from this mob". Almost exact same words Craig Bellamy used on Sky before the game about Republic of Ireland before they beat Wales recently. Whatever you say about Rangers they do have some very decent players in midfield and up front. If we win comfortably in the cup I will be pleasantly surprised. -

I think some are getting carried away a little. Rangers have only lost to Hibs and Celtic. They have some very decent players. They have scored 20 goals to our 13 even if we have a game in hand. If we can keep up the momentum with a win tomorrow and play as we can we ought to give them a good game. But a few on here seem to think we just need to turn up. -
Scottish Premiership Game 8: Partick Thistle (H) Saturday 30/09/17
Welldaft Mk1 replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
I think that is being kind :-) It is fair to say that neither Dunne nor Kipre will win the pass completion stats. Their distribution is fairly poor. But the 0 in the scoreline is what pleases me most. If they could pass and defend great, but after the last few seasons a robust defence and a positive goal difference is a HUGE improvement and both deserve credit for that. Yes the midfield has helped. But Kipre was very good again yesterday. That mazy run in the 2nd half where he went past 3 Thistle players was worth the entrance fee alone. -

A double negative or positive Nobody is kidding anybody. I am enjoying watching Motherwell for the 1st time in a couple of years. Yes there was the odd good performance during that time, but this team are poles apart. Anyone who finds ANY negative over this seasons start needs their head examined or are just permanently miserable feckers. It was hard to fault anyone today. So Partick were poor. Maybe that has something to do with how we played. A novel concept but worth thinking about. Hard to pick a man of the match. Thought Tait and Kipre and Cadden were very good. But to think we got £400k for Henaghan and got Hartley in return. Just WOW. Nothing against Big Ben. Liked him while he was here but nothing like the goal threat Hartley is. In my opinion a better fit for Kapitan than McHugh. Let's do Hamilton is a couple of weeks and then bring on the h**s. If we can maintain same momentum and work ethic we are in with good chance of causing an upset. What a great step forward that at 2-0 I did not see Partick coming back. Changed days indeed. Mon the WELL -

People moaning at £25 for a cup semi final. That is a couple of quid more than a bang average away league game at say Thistle or St Johnstone. Not sure what people expected if I am honest. I have a feeling we will beat the h**s. Imagine missing out on that because it was a few quid more than u thought it might be. No thanks. -
Scottish Premiership Game 7: Aberdeen (H) Sunday 24/09/17 (12.15)
Welldaft Mk1 replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
I was at today's game and not Thursday. Typical. No paranoi but worried that may b the case. A hint of negativity about a few posts. Perhaps unsurprising given the high of Thursday and result today. But I enjoyed us match up to the supposedly 2nd best side in the league. There was little in the game today and they got the break when we did not. Very much deserved a draw. Aberdeen were a big team and very physical. Their defence was very good a we won very little in the air for most of the 2nd half. Alan Campbell continues to impress in each and every game. McHugh has not lived up to expectations for now and of all the midfielders may find his place in peril given the strength from the bench. Fisher did not add much after he came on but again their defence was strong. The ref was as per piss poor. Every single game almost these days. I am disappointed but not downbeat. Over 2 games v 2nd best team we have more than held our own and won the game the mattered most from a number of perspectives including more importantly financially. We do need to kick on v Partick and maintain/regain our momentum. -

According to SPFL Website - the game is on Saturday 21st October Best outcome for those like me who fancy a few beers without worrying about overdoing it for the Monday. Did not manage to get along last night a been travelling all week and on way to Manchester since 6am. Disappointed but sadly work comes 1st for now anyway. I watched the game on BT and for once after we went 2-0 up was very confident we would not blow it. Almost a surreal feeling being a well fan of 40+ years. The zero in 3-0 cannot be understated. In the past we have scored plenty of goals, but we have a decent defence and keeper and strong midfield. It was a great game to watch and the joy at the 3rd goal - WOW. I am delighted that no other team were prepared to pay more than £400k for Louis. Delighted but baffled also. Unlikely he will sign anew contract and it is a shame but totally understand. He needs to look after his family and he is one player that will and should not get any ill will from fans. My concern is we lose him at Xmas. We are a selling club and if a similar offer comes in with half a season left we may have little option but to take it. I am buzzing. Heading along on Sunday and expect a much tougher game. Most Well fans knew our team was much better than last season. Now the rest of the league and more so Aberdeen know it. It is no longer a surprise. -

Sitting in Bali right now wishing I was at Fir Park. That's right ! Absolutely delighted with that result. Looking forward to seeing Moults goal and glad Bowman scored also. Other results went for us too. Buzzing -
Good insight - thanks. My initial feeling was that this appeared to be an impulse buy, so to speak. He had only been with us for a week and has not played a lot of senior football in the UK. That said not sure how much senior football either Skippy or OJamma (to think of 2 players) had played in U.K. and they turned out to be decent signings. With our wage budget we probably need to take some risks as buying the finished article or someone who is on everyone's radar is unlikely. Which means even a 50/50 success rate is quite high. So out of Newell and the Lithuanian boy unlikely both will turn out to be 1st team regulars this season or next. Time will tell.
-
Not really news imho. Bottom line is if no-one offers us a decent fee then where else would he be going ? I suspect unless he starts banging in the goals between now and end of month he will probably not be sold and we will have him at least until next transfer window.
-
I am more concerned that Cadden will be the one that will beaway !!
-
Surprised - no. Disappointed - a little bit. Not sure I understand why you would not sign a deal that would quite possibly increase your wages substantially. Let's face it we would still sell when we got a semi decent bid. This only means that a buying club if there is one does not need to pay the going rate, so we as a club suffer. I don't really begrudge the guy and he should have enough goodwill from all fans to not resort to negative comments and tweets. He has been coming back from an Op and it has shown in his performances. Again a shame for us because if clubs have been looking last few games they will not have been impressed. But then they should also factor in his performances last 2 years and not 2 weeks. But will they. My worry is this gets a little ugly. Because we are not going to sell him unless we an offer we feel is better than keeping him for a year. So does he start to feel like Costa and Marvin and feel we are holding his career back ? Hope not as once again the exposure we have provided has helped up his profile substantially. Time will tell....
-
Not saying this is gospel, but I believe the fee was around £4-500k plus add ons. Based on various factors such as appearances and Oxford being promoted. The latter did not happen. I also believe the sell on clause is around 20%. We wanted more than Oxford could offer, so the sell on clause / % was decent So we probably got around £500k and if he is sold for £1.5 - £2m -then another £3-400k. Not too shabby. Hope he moves on for our sake.

We have appealed for both straight red cards for Carson and Dunne. Probably unsurprisingly. I feel we may get Dunne rescinded but suspect the Carson one maynbe upheld as it is open to interpretation and so I don't see how we can argue it was 100 % defo not a red. -

Because he is Craig Thomson and it is a Motherwell player. No need to go into any more detail than that.
