  1. Interesting if true. Is this also in exchange or part of any deal for Moult. Any player who is that good should have faith in their ability to come here and prove it. They would get 1st team football and be sold to a better and bigger club within 1-2 years max. If no financial penalty to him personally seems a strange one unless his agent knows of others clubs waiting in the wings. But unlikely any club in Scotland could afford to buy him. Assuming it is true of course........
  2. I would take O'Halloran for sure Seems to have lost his way a little at Rangers but was a standout against us in his final season at St Johnstone. We moan at the club for accepting mediocre offers, yet the gist on here seems to be that £500k is as much as we will get for Louis. 18 goals in each of his last 2 seasons in a struggling side. We will no doubt get mugged but I keep coming back to the £1.8m they paid for Joe Garner.... I hope he heads south for £1m + sell on %. It would pain me greatly to see him play for them and score against us.
  3. I think on the latter Dave. Talks will happen in house and once a deal is done it will be announced. Should be the way it is. You could say you want to release them but if no takers it is all a mess. I suspect he will try to move Blyth and (perhaps) Bowman on but we need someone else to be interested or cut a deal.
  4. I see Alex Fisher at Caley was only on 6 months which has come to an end 4 goals in 2 games v us is reasonably impressive. Granted against a porous defence ! I was impressed by the type of goals he scored. A mixture of real skill and strikers instinct. It may be an all too rare purple patch, but looked a far better option than Bowman or Blyth !
  5. Very much this. In previous seasons I would have been disappointed had he not stayed but the hullabaloo that accompanied the wait for that decision was as tedious as it was annoying. Skippy has been a VERY good player for us in his 2 or 3 stints - he has the experience and often the skill to contribute at this level, but I think it is time to move on for both parties. Wish him all the very best assuming he does not stay in Scotland in the top flight. I am hopeful Robinson is ruthless in his decision making. Lasley and Lionel merit contracts based on our feelings for them but not really on the basis of what they can now contribute to a full season in the top flight next season. We have a small budget and we need to get the most out of it. Help if we can reach agreement with Blyth also.
  6. Not sure if reported but Graham Carey was also at Fir Park last night. Picture of him and his rather attractive partner doing the rounds - on Plymouth Herald: http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/graham-carey-attends-motherwell-game-as-plymouth-argyle-future-still-in-doubt/story-30338075-detail/story.html Probably nothing in it
  7. A lot of miserable sods on this forum I am quite convinced if we had Conte or Mourinho there would be plenty on here that would still moan given every opportunity I also don't know what kind of Manager some people think we can attract Robinson was given a job to do under very difficult circumstances. You know what (and it might have escaped some) he went and did it. He should get the opportunity to build his own side and he will. Not saying he will turn out to be a succes but... It has been a shite season but most of that has little to do with him. Let's enjoy the fact we have won 2 games and are now safe for another season. It could have been a hell of a lot worse.
  8. By Christ it is tough supporting this team year in year out. But every now and then you are reminded why you stick with it The euphoria of the last 2 games that have kept us in the top flight for 33 fkin years. Only Aberdeen and Celtic have a better record !!!! It has been a tough season for many reasons, many outside our control. But I love this club and hopefully always will. Kudos to Robinson. Might not be everyone's choice but then no-one ever is. He was given a job to do and he did it. He deserves a chance for next season. I will be smiling a lot over the next few days.....
  9. Has to be Big Ben He has been poor last few games but one mistimed bounce in the box apart he was very very good. There is a very good player there and all posters on here shoul agree = extra money if a transfer takes place But he was my MOM by some distance today
  10. That comment came as a complete surprise. I can also see us beating Ross County and Hamilton and Dundee losing or drawing, meaning we would leapfrog them both The truth is somewhere in between. Dundee had a slice of luck against us and are away to a Killie team that have only lost to us and the top 2 since January ! You would like to think that Inverness will try and compete at Home v Hamilton - it really is their last chance imo. Lose and they will finish bottom of the league.
  11. I was quite impressed with McLean in the rare glimpses we saw. Especially a performance against Celtic if I recall. Was it the 4-3 game. Hopefully he comes through the under 20's as another option for Saturday.
  12. Agree pretty much with Andy P. You can argue the formation cost us the game. You can argue Another Samson blunder helped cost us the game. You can argue YET another referee/ Linesman blunder helped cost us the game. I think Robinson has done alright with what is at his disposal. We were in No danger up until a fortuitous break puts the ball in front of Samson and we know what happened next. OK we might not have been peppering their goal but we were the dominant side with same formation. I do suspect Robinson is trying to fit in our better players into a system that works. What worries me the most - is the apathy from fans. 2 crucial games back to back and still only 3500 home fans of thereabouts. In the past for these types of games you would have got an extra 1-2000 on top of average gate. We are in a dogfight and the stay away / fair weather fans have a huge part to play. The easy option is to say fuck it - cannot be arsed going along next week. But a larger positive crowd will help. This is NOT a criticism as if you only choose to go to a few games a year then make one of them next weekend.
  13. So am I. And agree - a semi competent keeper would have claimed that ball and we go in at 0-0. In a way I feel for Samson. Trying his best and has had a few decent games, but he is the poorest keeper we have had in ages and incapable of decisiveness when it really counts.
  14. Well that game summed up following Motherwell for me. If I had a £ for every time we were on top of a game or at least comfortable - only to self destruct and quite literally lose a goal with oppositions 1st chance. I would retire now and I am only 8! What a fkin omnishambles we were today. Samson gets stuck and rightly so. Decidedly average and the defence must rue the fact he is behind them. That said we are asking out and out wingers to defend and it is quite clear they struggle to do that. And when they fail the opposition have Samson and Heneghan to beat and right now that is hardly a fkin challenge. Our recruitment has been poor and the goalie position a colossal fuck up this year. I would be happy with Samson as 3rd choice but 1st. After last week I thought we would b safe. After this week I am thinking 11th. I am missing next week for a work conference. At first I was annoyed. Right now I am almost relieved. Of course we can beat Ross County and more so without Boyce, but play like we did today and i will be glad I am getting text updates only !!!!
  15. Yes it means they will be a tougher prospect in a little under 2 weeks. But I saw signs on Saturday that we were well up for the fight. Played some decent attacking football and scored 4 goals. I also read Skippy saying they would be extra focussed on avenging last defeat that ultimately cost McGhee his job. One other positive is they will probably bring a larger crowd which is good for our bank balance.
  16. He did have a decent game but has become a target regardless how he performs. As you say the defenders were just as culpable if not more so. In saying that they tried to play offside and I think it worked. The linesman made the mistake, although it was close so understandable. Samson has been alright in the last few games but is still a concern at crosses. I am hoping we will be looking for another 1st choice goalie come next season. Rumours about Mannus at St Johnstone. Would be reasonably happy with that.
  17. So Schalk and Boyce missing for game v us. That would be good...
  18. Bonus though that Boyce missing our game according to Sky
  19. Now 2-2 thanks to the best dive I have seen in a while. Still Celtic have had many dubious penalties over the years... Does not help us though Bonus is that Boyce misses our game according to Sky
  20. Is Erwin coming back ? Started to hit the net regularly it's Oldham. Not sure how long his deal was with Leeds ? I would take him back and get another fee for him....
  21. Thanks Ya Bezzer Knew we had performed well v other teams around about us. Of the 3 defeats 2 have come from Dundee. We are due to get a performance and result against them. Hopefully in a fortnights time !
  22. Delighted with the result and overall performance yesterday. Would not be Motherwell if we did not contrive to make a mess of a comfortable 2 goal lead. That said massive credit due to both the Manager and players for getting back on top of the game at 2-2. My pal was doing his nut at their equaliser for defenders standing claiming for offside, but highlights show that the Caley scorer did look marginally offside. So we maybe got a LONG overdue break with the 3rd goal but then so did they. I was so glad to see Moult back in the side. He does make such a difference just in the fact he causes fear in their defence and can always be relied to get opportunities to score. Sometimes his play is generally poor but he is an out and out striker and I doubt he will be with us after the summer sadly. Special mentions to McHugh, Cadden, Skippy and Samson. Say what you like about Samson but he did make 2 or 3 very good saves inc the 1 on 1 which WAS crucial. Glad wee Campbell got MOM. I did think he was struggling a little in the 1st half but then so was the rest of our midfield. 2nd half and his goal shows his promise. I hope he now retains his place for the Dundee game. Edit to add - Ainsworth made a difference as well when he came on. Nice to see an obvious positive impact. Such a frustrating player. Cannot make up my mind on Bowman - he is a nuisance up front but seems to lack that finishing touch. He has been a little unlucky with some decent saves from his efforts, but he should have converted a couple of chances by now. Sums it up for me if he could not even get his head on the 2nd goal from Moults cross / goal. As always disappointed by a home crowd of 3500 for such a crucial game, but at least those who went along got their money's worth. 35 attempts at goal and 20+ on target. Hopefully we can kick on for the Dundee home game. Yet another crucial home game. Win that and puts space between us and Dundee - lose it and we are back to square one ! Get along to the game if you can.
  23. Attention seeking post above ALERT. Huge game today and bloody nervous. Not helped by a dream I had this morning which seems to have lasted all of a minute and was basically us taking a throw in - losing possession and Caley break up the pitch take a long range shot which is fumbled by Samson and they score with a tap in - seems familiar ! Hopefully we get a few more through the gate today and next few games until our fate is decided. My fear is even if we are ahead with a short time remaining - will we be able to withstand the obvious pressure from ICT. Teams seem to be better able to see games out against us. Anyway I shall head along and hope we turn up with one of our better performances
  24. Not often this happens, but I totally agree with steelboy. In the main we have performed reasonably well under Robinson. How we lost to St Johnstone and we matched and bettered Rangers at Ibrox for the most part. They may be no great shakes but did just beat Aberdeen away 3 zip. Quite a few on here are focussing on 30 minutes against Partick and Hamilton. I would rather take positives from recent games as a reason why we may well escape the predicament we find ourselves in. Despite a turgid season we still have one of the best records v bottom 6 sides. Hopefully that continues into Saturday and beyond.
  25. Would it surprise anyone on here that after giving us 4 away games v the Old firm - the SPFL also give us a competitive and financial disadvantage of more away games than home games. Not me. What makes me believe this is the old you were top 6 now you are bottom 6 - so this is the way it has to be! Whatever anyone says having 4 home games out of remaining 6 fixtures ought to be an advantage for us as we battle to avoid the bottom 2 spots. I will reserve judgement and my vitriol until 11am tomorrow. I would hope the SPFL see sense and play fair - yeah right..........
