  1. A lot depends on Cadden. His injury may have briefly taken the limelight off him, but his 30 minute display v Celtic when Izagguire was eventually subbed will have made the interest in him intensify. I am certain we will get an offer for him even in this window. Whether it is good enough to tempt up remains to be seen.... Also I would like a goalie that can try and command his box and make even ONE attempt to cut out crosses that are in front of his nose ! He even spilled another shot on Saturday that this time we thankfully got away with. Samson would possibly do to the end of season, but assuming Brill is not an option, then this is an area that should be looked at. Left back also depending on Chalmers and Hammells fitness and even then.......
  2. Some referees have given yellow card in similar circumstances, but by the letter of the law it was a red card. Only thing ref got right all day. He was utterly abysmal. Also if you raise two hands that is deemed a red, so as wily as Skippy is his assailant could and should have seen red. We were miles ahead when we had 11 men on the park. There was only going to be one winner, which makes Lucas moment of madness all the more frustrating. Thought Macmillan struggled today, especially 2nd half, but then he is young and we were up against it. Clay was also ganting 2nd half - too many misplaced passes. Moult was also having an off day, but he is a finisher more than anything else. His last minute goal was fantastic. Not enjoyed celebrating a goal that much this season. All that said we fully deserved a draw. Great turn out from the fans. 2100 out of a crowd of 3500 is excellent. Glad they / we / I had something to celebrate come the end.
  3. Only my opinion, but I would rather read his posts than yours...
  4. You start to think we are just a poor team all in all. Same mistakes again and again. Sure we have had bugger all luck with decisions, not least the Dundee non goal. Even tonite - we both miss penalties, they score the rebound and with ours their players kicks it off the post. BUT we keep giving away SOFT goals at crucial times. Samson - as good as he is at shot stopping and he did help gain us a point last week. Sadly he is good for a flap/fumble every couple of games. He is not good enough but it appears we have nothing else if Brill cannot even get a go in goal. We are in a relegation battle and I am not sure (like last year) we will pull away. Merry feckin Xmas !
  5. From watching him this season this ought not to be a worry. Even when the ball is a couple of yards from his line for crosses he tends to stay rooted on his line !!!!!
  6. 1st time I met Colin - he turned up to my flat in Edinburgh to fit carpets. I was wearing a retro Roma top and straight away he clocked the claret and Amber stripes. We talked all things Motherwell FC that day. Always made a point of talking to him when I saw him at matches thereafter. I was aware he had severe health issues but this is indeed very sad news. He was a very decent bloke that was dealt a bad hand. Should make us all appreciate what we have if we are in good health. RIP Trainbus.
  7. Went up to Perth today. Glad we got a point but scratching my head how. I don't like to be too critical but I thought we were very poor today. We let St Johnstone have all the time on the ball out wide, resulting in (as per usual) a barrage of crosses. If St Johnstone had a Joe Jordan we would have lost by a country mile. I have seen us play ten times better in Perth and lose on a number of occasions. Our central midfield is not That good at the moment. You can see Clay is a good footballer but him and Lasley and Moult for that matter misplaced so many passes today. I read that Tommy Wright thinks we could have had a penalty but cannot recall the incident. An away point in Perth is these days quite decent, but more performances like that will see us playing in a lower division next season.
  8. At 2-0 up I thought we would lose the game. I am not a pessimist as such. I just have seen it so many times before. Can't argue with the effort and we know we have some right good players in Moult, Skippy, Cadden, Henaghan etc. Problem is we have some players whose best days are behind them. That is what happens when you are running on a fairly meagre budget. Also does not help when 2 of our better midfielders are injured in McHugh and Lucas. The latter permanently it would seem. Hammell and Lasley have been FANTASTIC players for us and I would rarely if ever call them names or abuse them as such. They do not deserve it imho. BUT this season is proving to be a challenge for them. To the point I would rather have Chalmers at left back given his early season form. Lasley was not solely to blame for the 2nd and 4th goals but his ability to move swiftly to close down or block Armstrongs cross for 2nd and Rogic shot for the 4th ultimately cost us. 4-3.was closer than I expected and only hope that we can kick on for the rest of December starting with Kille at home next week.
  9. We could finish the season now - incredibly still in the top 6. Hard run of games coming up. We need to front up and stay in touch come the end of December.
  10. We are soft as shite away from home. One step forward 2 steps back at the moment. Will get nothing next week most probably. We could well find ourselves at the foot of the table by Xmas. Hope not - but looking ominous. Did not expect us to win today, but expected us to at least put up a fight !
  11. Thanks for your input. Would rather hear from your partner Salt however. That disallowed goal - if it is proven of course has an impact. But we had 50 minutes to put it right and we did not appear to have played well in the 2nd half at all. We need to be better and stronger than that...
  12. 1 step forward 72 steps backwards. Sad how losing a goal or the 1st goal seems to impact us negatively. No strength of character it would appear
  13. Say what you like about the disallowed goal. From BBC text it has been all Dundee 2nd half with numerous shots at goal v zip for us. Not good enough against a poor Dundee team. Totally Jekyll & Hyde this season...
  14. Which would make it worse given we are now a goal behind. That would make it 3 legitimate goals we have had ruled out in the past couple of months.
  15. Is the guy made of glass or something. Did he not last the full game last week ?
  16. Would leave the midfield well alone. Although different team and formation etc. But they deserve a chance to show last week was not a one off. Would expect Hammell to slot back in if fit enough. That would be only change I would make.
  17. That is what I don't get. Mourinho + Sir Alex + Pep Guardiola are all or were arrogant and egotistical. Those traits sadly often make for decent football managers. What ever anyone says McGhee has done a decent job in both his spells at Motherwell. After Wednesday the knives were out again, not without reason I might add, but we have such an impatient and narrow minded support. I will get pelters for this, but I am glad we turned in one of our best and most enjoyable performances for quite some time and quite a few fans missed it - probably because they could not be arsed going along after Wednesday night. I will absolutely agree that club have repeatedly failed the fans by poor communication and all round poor customer service. I hope this fan engagement chap makes a difference. Let's face it - in his favour he is starting from a very low benchmark.
  18. To be honest I felt there was not much in the game until they scored. In fact we had started the 2nd half as the better side for 15 minutes and put about 5 or 6 crosses into their box, all to no avail. Then as usual we pish about at clearing our lines and boom 1-0 down and ICT had done nothing 2nd half up until that point. The 2nd goal was typical of our defending at set pieces for years - as in utter dross. How come every cross that comes into our box is a threat. Would like to see it again but I felt Samson could have come out for it. I left after that so thankfully missed their 3rd. Ya Bezzer right about player recruitment. A combination of giving older players longer contracts, injuries and mysteries mean we have a very small 1st team squad. I feared the worse when we fielded 2 youngsters v very experienced and seasoned ICT team. Maybe still early but Bowman has offered very little so far in terms of direct goal scoring threat. We looked as if we could have played for days and not scored. All other teams seem to have more about them (apart from Dundee) than us - even bloody Kilmarnock. Not sure what the answer is. I will head along on Saturday but expect more of the same as Ross C are more or less similar too ICT and Boyce is back for them. Ho hum - relegation battle on the cards.
  19. I suspect any deal done with Oxford had add ons such as appearances and probably also promotion. Assuming that is the case we want him to do Well down there. As for any sell on clause - I suspect he has found his level.
  20. We have played 12 games so far. Played well enough in 4 of the 5 league cup games. Celtic away excepted. But again they can draw 3-3 with Man City and will spank many teams at Parkhead probably including ourselves in a couple of weeks. As for the league - played well enough v Killie away, Rangers away, Hamilton at home..... We have been poor in a few for sure..
  21. Inevitable panty wetters on here after a loss. We are not a terrible team. All our players are not shite. A few on here should give posting a miss full stop. Yes it is a forum but it is depressing reading same mince after every game. Sure I don't have to read it. But Sadly I like this message board for the most part. Last night we played OK and on another day could have taken something from the game. That said - the 1st goal was utterly avoidable. Starting with the freekick Moult gives away. That however was in no way worse than Samsons inevitable flap at fresh air, followed by Lasley brain fart. I agree with most that I would like to see what Brill can offer. Samson is not strong enough at commanding his box and his wish to punch and parry shots is only going to lead to more unavoidable goals through the season. If he catches of at least punches the ball away at the 1st goal - we go in at HT 0-0. Simples. Lasley and Hammell - must be their last season as regulars. Been fantastic for the club but they are slow and decision making is getting worse as the season progresses. Would be interesting whether Hammell would start if Chalmers was not injured. Same for McHugh and Lasley. Cadden going off did not help either. He is a pivotal part of our team and probably was an early sign that it was not going to end well. A tough October awaits and I suspect we will be near the foot of the table come the end of it. Which should be fun reading on here. We enough about us to finish away from a dog fight and despite what a few on here STILL say McGhee has proved himself as a very good Manager for Motherwell Football club.
  22. Tait for me followed by Henaghan. Both have been good additions to the team
  23. I would take Ali Crawford too. Not sure what his contractual situation is ? What a game. Moult was and is a genius. The new faster and less heavy Higdon... We did let Accies into game. Hardly surprising. I thought Bowman was OK. Felt he lacked SPFL fitness but he gave 100%. That is what counts. Collum was a dickhead as per. 2 tackles from behind unpunished. Fuckin best team in the world.
  24. I do not know for a FACT but I would think there was zero chance of Accies having a bigger budget than us. If he said Ross County maybe... We have cut back as we have had little choice, but up to that point we would have had a bigger budget than most if not all provincial sides. Anyway here's hoping we can get a much needed win tomorrow.
