  1. The fan ownership thing is not happening. We simply don't have the fan base to sustain it. Or we have the fan base but not enough who either want too or can afford too or both. If this comes as a surprise to Les Hutchison then maybe he ain't as clever as he is portrayed. Still he can console himself with having a few bob more than I have - for now anyway
  2. Not conceding a last minute goal would be even better.... Unless we are 4-0 up at the time. Huge game. Could really do with the ful 3 points.
  3. A free kick in the 90 minute and our inability to defend set pieces = the inevitable. Most other teams would have just defended it and come away with a decent away point. I like others just believe that we are a poorish side. We have some decent players - but can hardly put together any sustained form or results. Thistle at home and Hamilton away. We need minimum 4 or 6 points with games v ICT, Aberdeen and Celtic to follow. Anything less and we will start to look favourites for that play off spot assuming United do not string a few results together.. Not being pessimistic, but I actually put our chances of staying in the top flight at 50/50 right now
  4. Sorry to break it to you - but we are struggling... That many late goals is not the sign of a team with a great deal of confidence. United was a great result - even better after today results, but they had 2-3 v good chances to equalise and then possibly go onto win. In short we need to be 2 goals up heading into the final minutes and maybe then we will get a point !!!

    Relegation

Yet another late kick in the haw maws. All sadly predictable. We should lobby the SPFL to play games for 85 minutes. That result and others today suggests to me that the bottom 2 spots will be contested between Dundee United, Hamilton, Killie and ourselves. Who would you back after 85 minutes in post split matches Would like a boring end to the season. Does not look like it is going to happen.
  6. Met and spoke to Alan on a few occasions, good guy, highly educated, handsome ,with a drop dead gorgeous fiancée and living the dream.
  7. What is more unbelievable. Your view he was crap v ICT or the vast majority, including myself that thought he was MOM. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Tough one that
  8. Delighted and surprised in equal measure It sounds like we got the rub of the green tonite that has been missing the last few weeks. Pleased Skippy got 2 and Faddy seemed to contribute. Let's hope we can get a run going again and can kick on against ST Johnstone on Saturday. Should relieve the pressure on McGhee for a few minutes Can have sweet dreams for a pleasant change
  9. I suspect there will be league reconstruction in another year or so. But going down would be a huge concern. I still don't know, nor do many what Les Hutchisons plans are. The Well Society will not gather the funds to repay Les and then what ? If he continues to back us then a season or two in lower leagues may not be the worst thing, but he may well grow tired and realise it was a mistake buying Motherwell. A well intentioned one pardon the pun, but a costly mistake all the same.
  10. Don't really have too. Most on here know Ibrox empties early even when they are winning, more so when they are losing. In saying that I am not sure even their fans would leave 20 minutes early after going 2 behind.
  11. Probably says how bad most of the team were yesterday. Johnson was not great but to say he is an imposter is harsh in the extreme. Without him we would have created nothing and he is the one player - Dom Thomas apart that can take on and beat his man. He out in quite a few decent crosses. Not his fault there was no-one there to convert. I would rather have him in the team right now.
  12. I have no problem with fans thinking we were shit today I have no problem with fans thinking the players are not playing to their potential I have no problem with fans thinking McGhee is the wrong appointment, even if I don't. I have a problem with fans walking out with 20+ minutes left and booing the team. Does nothing to help and shows we are no better than the likes of Rangers
  13. Yes I was at the game today Which is why I am embarrassed You have a bad day at work. I am sure you do. See how you like it when your colleagues start picking on you and booing you. I am sure it will spur you on to better things
  14. To be honest Pearson was poor today, so maybe not such a bad thing he is missing.
  15. We have had a few bad results and McGhee takes his blame for a few dropped points. Boy oh boy are our fans a hoot. Maybe we could try to encourage the team to do better. The booing is fuckin pathetic. If I was our Manager or a player I would walk out and tell our supposed fans to do one Bring it on BOO boys
  16. I don't doubt there is a large hole in the budget, as we have posted losses the past 2 years and yet again have failed to progress far in either cup and not sold on any player in the most recent transfer window. If we were to budget for finishing 10th and knocked out of the cup in 1st round proper - we would probably already be a Championship club. That is the gamble you take I guess. It used to be Boyle the plugged the gap and now I guess it is Les. Q is how willing is he to do this and for how long ? There is no-one else and we know the Well Society has already tapped up most fans, to the point they are no longer willing to commit any more money (myself included) on top of season ticket, club merchandise, hospitality etc. I hate to say it but having Rangers and Hibs back up would help assuming we are still in the top flight ourselves. I am still surprised that Les is surprised that the club is unlikely to be self sufficient and bought over by the fans with our fanbase. He must have known this would cost him in the long run. I hope he has deep pockets and is prepared to continue to support MFC. Either that or I win the Euromillions...
  17. I guess that depends whether your glass is half full or half empty.....
  18. I have enjoyed reading this thread. Cannot say that often. Like those above started going to odd games here and there in mid to late seventies. I was never from Motherwell and have never lived within a 45-60 minute drive. So all games are / were away games to an extent. But I do think I am lucky I have seen us in 3 finals inc 1991. Should be more but as is widely known Hibs last won the Sc Cup in 1902! Also Uefa Cup, Cup Winners Cup, Europa League and Champions League. Been to 9 away trips in Europe inc Nancy which with 2500+ well fans was a fantastic experience and a epic journey both ways... I was gutted on Saturday - 3 late goals in a row and being Motherwell I would not rule out a 4th or 5th.... When all is said and done we support a team that has actually achieved quite a lot. We could have achieved more, but we also could have been an Ayr, Falkirk, Dunfermline, Morton, St Mirren, all teams of a comparable size languishing in lower leagues for most of the time we have been in top flight. Nah it could be worse - a lot worse
  19. How is it utter shite ? In my opinion right now Inverness have a better team and midfield than we do. Not a great deal in it, but they won our last home game 3-1, albeit with a dubious and re-taken penalty. If we went two up front we could have been easily outnumbered in midfield which would have made our odds of winning a lot less. Imagine that had happened and we lost be a wider margin, people would be on here asking why we did not shore up the midfield. He cannot possibly win. His tactics got us to within seconds of a deserved replay, but for a wonder strike and a foul that ought to have been given. Gomis was in front of Roberts and was barged from slightly behind. As someone has already stated on here an almost replica of a foul Inverness were given near the dugouts. Seeing the goal again, Moults attempt a tackle was every bit as poor as Laws. 91 minutes and after last 2 games he should have cleaned him out. When will we learn. A real sickener. But we can concentrate on staying in the league and hoping a modicum of luck comes our way. Plus point was Gomis. I thought he was excellent yesterday. I would be inclined to drop Lasley from midfield, which is not something I say lightly. Just feel Gomis and Lasley are too similar and on yesterday's form Gomis would get the nod.
  20. Yes and my opinion is that I would rather entrust the Motherwell team to Mark McGhee than many on here who are criticising him...
  21. Totally agree. Never read so much pish in all my life in some posts on this thread. Although come to expect it. We are all hurting and this has been one tough week, but it did not take long for the panty wetters to come out in full force. Inverness are a better side right now and had we gone with two up top, would have run over us in midfield. Nothing wrong with the managers tactics. Frustrating yes, but again nothing in the game and we come away with nothing. Would like to see challenge on Gomis again, who by and large had a very good game. Guy pings it in from 30 yards in 91 minutes. He would miss that 9 times out of 10. Would rather trust McGhee than most would be tactical experts on here. Only difference is they cannot be judged on their expertise. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. McGhee has made mistakes and will do so again, but I do not blame him for the last 3 results.
  22. We are architects of our downfall for sure, but it would have been a routine save by Ripley had it not taken a wicked deflection. Letting Lawless have the time and space to shoot was bad enough, but again for our chances we are not getting the luck or breaks and generally when it does hit a defender it goes anywhere but to a Motherwell player. Gutted by the late goal, but probably should have been an away point to add to an away 3 points at the weekend. Criticise McGhee all you want and there are plenty on here waiting to do just that - probably even happy they have the opportunity ! We are a better side than under Baraclough and even latterly under McCall. Yes McGhee makes mistakes and his subs are at times baffling. If I recall McCall never put on any subs or not until the death. At least McGhee is prepared to try things to win or see out a game. Not working at the moment and he is partially to blame, but so is bad officiating and the rub of the green going against us. Hopefully we can get a positive result v Caley in the cup and that can start to turn our season around.
  23. Nothing wrong with a draw away from home on a shite pitch in shite weather. The onus is on the home team to win. We don't deserve anything and have no right not to be in this position. All that said we have been devoid of luck this last wee while. Yes - you make your own luck. But iffy penalties and last minute deflections... Even when we save penalties - they are re-taken... Next 3 games are critical. My worry is the players feel they are jinxed and the run of losses sucks any belief they had.
  24. Sounds like we did not deserve to lose. 2 goals lost in the last few minutes in last 2 games + v Hamilton = 5 points lost. Need to f#ckin concentrate till final whistle We are no shitier than Dundee or Thistle. Cannot buy any luck.. Hopefully we get some on Saturday Absolutely sickening
