The word lucrative means likely to be China bound. Skippy could have signed any time from at least a week ago probably longer. Means he is and was holding out to see what his options are / were. Perfectly entitled to do so. The gap in his earnings from where he was at the likes of Celtic and Boro is probably too large to Motherwell. Of course he will know he is not likely to get that kind of money again unless he heads to China, USA or Middle East. Most teams there would probably take him. Hopefully we find out today as this has been dragging on too long to get alternatives should he decide to move elsewhere.

It is time to sack the Manager No t great losing 3-0 even if it is a friendly. I see free back post header for one of the goals. I guess as Motherwell fans we just need to accept we will give away free headed goals until we are all brown breid!!!
-
Would you not like to see Skippy return ? I don't disagree with your other points. But I feel we need an experienced moaning faced git to gee up the younger players and kick some backsides if things are not going well - Skippy fits the bill. Not forgetting he is actually a decent wee footballer into the bargain. Not saying it will happen - just would not rule it out.
-
Why can we forget Skippy? He enjoys his time at the Well and unless something special comes around for him, then I would not be at all surprised to see his return.............
-
So that is Kieran Kennedy, Jackson Irvine and hopefully Skippy + 1 goalie That would be a fairly strong squad. Would be happy with that.
-
I am with Busta on this. Some on here are hardly forgiving of players who do not perform like Messi week in week out. Conveniently forgetting our place in Scottish Football and the associated budgets our Managers (past and present) have to work with. If he did assault a woman then he deserves the book thrown at him - but I have seen little evidence other than comments on here to back that up. If he is or has been cleared then am more than happy to have him in the squad. May not be the most talented, but he at least tries and has turned in a few decent performance in his time with us.
-
You can also not discount his goals and efforts in a Scotland shirt. 48 caps and 15 goals hardly describes an average player in my eyes. Most players in the premier ship are average these days, principally because even the likes of Leicester and Watford can spend £10m on a player without batting an eyelid. I agree with weeyins post. But I still think a serious injury just around the time he should have been at his peak set him back and he has never recovered. If he was happy to take a pay and play / coaching role I would happily have him around the club. No sentiment involved. Just the fact that he is experienced and will help younger players looking up to a Well hero.
-
Motherwell is and always will be his spiritual home and so it should be. If we can help him maintain his fitness and he gets another gig, then I would be more then happy with that. If he has no other options and signs for us on a pay and play or for peanuts. Would be happy to have him around.

Makes you wonder how much we paid for Louis (Ted) Moult when you read this excerpt from local paper quoting the very lad: For a club of Wrexham’s size, it was a massive bid and I don’t blame them for accepting. It’s the sort of money that can do a lot for a non-league club. Also said he is looking forward to playing in front of 7000 - might be in for a surprise on that front

This. Both are OK - but a decent wing tipped collar for the home top would have been preferred. I dislike the collar from last home top even though the material was a step up from Puma. Could have been a classic. Bit lazy imho to use same collar for both strips

Season Tickets 2015/16 *** Topics Merged ***
Welldaft Mk1 replied to Toxteth O'Grady's topic in Club Chat
YT - the back row in the Cooper is Row W. Which is where I sit towards the East stand end. Quite like the Cooper. Can be a bit of a challenge seeing what is going on at the South stand end. Obviously more kids, so need to watch the sweary words. Have been (rightfully) told off a couple of times by parents. I probably should be moving to the East stand -
Is the training gear actually Mother well colours / badge. Has someone ordered the wrong gear?? Might explain delay for match day kits ..... IGNORE - Just seen Wes Fletcher interview. Defo Mother well badge. Interesting in fluorescent. Looks quite good.

Not entirely thrilled with Clarkson, but suspect as many do that he will be back up (like Sutton) should we have injuries to 1st choice strikers. What I will not do is slate him and decry his talents before he merits such abuse. He is ex Motherwell and helped us get a healthy fee when he left. He deserves a little bit more respect from a few on here. Christ knows why I said that

Without going into detail. The Motherwell ladies team were put together on the basis we would compete in top league. We were then stuck in one of 4 regional leagues Division 2 of the Scottish women's league. Hence why we are winning most games by 10 goals. All that said they did recently beat Hutchinson Vale of the top league 4-0 :-)
-
6-2 to Well Ladies. To be fair the Rangers team were in fact under 20's, but they had some decent players. Went along tonite as is only 5 minute drive from home. Reasonable turnout. 1st ladies game I have seen and we win a CUP..... Was a decent game with some decent goals. WELL done the ladies. Noticed in the programme we beat Falkirk ladies 14-0 in the semi final. 8 wins out of 8 in the league with 100 goals for and only 3 against. +97 GD

Absolutely THIS. We KNOW he has the talent. Just needs to do it more often. To be fair - if he did it is rather unlikely he would be signing a 2 year deal with us. I always look at it from the point of view - of how would I feel if the player (in this case Ainsworth) signed for say a Hearts or Dundee United. To be fair with Lionel I would be hacked off - so I am happy he is staying on
-
Well with Aberdeen being a larger (not better) club, you would have to imagine they see something in Gordon Marshall. I would say his record is not great, but I suspect he will be on bigger wages etc. So I hardly think he will be bothered what we all think. As for the signing this afternoon. I suspect a loan player signing permanently, which whilst hardly extra exciting is something in all this deafening silence.... My excitement factor in reverse order: Skippy Ainsworth Laing Long Might just be someone new....
-
That gives me another 1.5 years then. I would argue that it looks dafter if you are 20 stone 35 year old rather than a slender 52 yr old.
-
FWIW I hope it is true, the rumours about the long awaited return of the diagonal stripe. Hope they do not prove to be false. I usually but one top each year and bin most after a few years wear but if it is good this one will be a keeper. Might buy a couple for longevity. My take on it - is that there is too much talk on here for it to be anything other than 90% likely
-
So do I. For nostalgic reasons, but also because it is change from the norm. Could be my favourite home top in quite some time, as long as Macron do a good job. Underboyles design would be just the ticket.
-
I wont. No-one can argue that Sutton did well for us and I like most am sorry to see him go. But given a straight choice between Erwin and Sutton I would opt for Erwin every day of the week. If it was a personality contest - then Sutton, but it is not. If Skippy and Ainsworth head off - that takes it to 19 players gone. Granted 5 or 6 were on loan, but would suggest we need up to a dozen players to add to the 1st team squad.
-
That depends on whether Leeds honour the development fee. Would not surprise me is they try to pull a flanker. Financially they are in a bit of a mess are they not. Still my understanding is that he cannot play unless they pay. Would unlikely come back here, but some other club may get him. I may be doing them a disservice and they pay in full and on time................

http://www.worcesternews.co.uk/sport/local/13329868._/? Looks like we are not the only club that struggle with commercial aspects of transfers. Could be the quickest profit we have turned around, but the key Q is what is Marvin worth and are we likely to take any offer. My answer is £1m based on nothing more than his promise, but that has been enough for others to be worth multiple millions! Good news is we do not have to take any offer. For once we are in a position of strength. Q mark is how Marvin would react if we turn down a derisory offer from the likes of Celtic and Leeds.

I loved the sash strip. Simply because it was the time I started supporting the Well. The young ones will love this. The badge was separate and you had to sow it on. Well my mum did. To be fair to Macron, not a huge fan of the home top collar for this past season, but the material was a step up from the cheap Puma pish. The anniversary top was and is a belter, but as mentioned a tad heavy to wear during matches. That strip and sox were the best combo I have seen for some time.
-
Not based on his 1st half showing at Fir Park. At least 3 or 4 times he fecked up. On one occasion presented Boyd with a free shot on goal which thankfully he skewed wide. It is not that I don't rate him at all, but not sure we would ever get a transfer fee for him
