I would settle for that. It would be better if we could bring Thistle into the mix. 2 from 4 is better odds than 2 teams from 3 for relegation.

Next season when we are in the championship you mean. If Ainsworth gets game time then Thomas should. At least you know you will get 100% from Dom.
-
In season 84-85 when we were last in the 1st Division (30 years ago) crowds were as low as 1700 and no higher than 4500 v Airdire. On average 2500 or thereabouts, so quite a bit lower than they are today. I suspect the same may happen again although I am not sure they will fall too fare below the 3000 mark which is not far off where we are just now. I would still get a season ticket and travel through from Edinburgh. It may matter to some, but not to me what league we are in. If I felt we would survive and prosper from a season or two in the Championship then I would not mind. The problem is there is no guarantee it would only be one or two seasons

Threads like this appear when desperation sets in, so expect more to come over the next few weeks! The OP makes some valid points. Arguably as a club we are no bigger than the likes of Falkirk, Raith Rovers, Dunfermline even QOS based on catchment area etc. If we are not careful and we go down, we could be down for a few seasons but then so could Ross County and / or St Mirren. I like most am just amazed that we could go from 2nd top to 2nd bottom in a season. We have had no luck with injuries, which is the polar opposite to when we finished top 2 or 3 last few seasons. Also hoped that with Barra we would be harder to beat when the evidence is otherwise. I just cling to the hope that something will click and the combination of a couple of players back from injury, another week for the new boys to find their feet and finally dropping some more established players not performing and finally opting not to play Ainsworth when Dom T has shown just what he is capable of. The latter is what concerns me the most. How on earth can Ainsworth get game time when Dom came on v St J and helped us get a point

Welldaft Mk1 replied to Welldaft Mk1's topic in Club Chat
I thought we was - maybe mistaken, but according to this he was in the squad: http://www.worldfoot...well-fc/1995/2/ We may have had to wait a few years to start seeing the own goals flowing Back to the lunch. Meeting next week to discuss but if you do read these posts and were planning on going along - please respond to the following: East of Scotland Celebration Choices To assist in "making the correct decision" would ALL probable attendees of the Lunch/Dinner, help to gauge the mood by selecting ONE of three answers to the following question: Question : My preference for the celebration would be: 1. Friday evening at the rearranged match. 2. A different venue on the Saturday. 3. Rearrange for another Saturday 3.00pm home game. Many thanks in advance for your participation. -

East Of Scotland Supporters Branch 20Th Anniversary Lunch
Welldaft Mk1 replied to Welldaft Mk1's topic in Club Chat
BUMP. As if I could not see this happening I will talk to the club but it looks as if the 20th Anniversary meal will now be a dinner of the Friday evening and not a lunch on the Saturday after all................. -
It is down to interpretation. Mine and many others were that it was a coming together and both players fell. No clear intent to bring the player down. Goalside yes, but not really in front of him and no clear push, pull or tug on the St J player. Collum felt it was a red card because he is a robot and a useless SOD. Still will not change my mind that it was a HARSH decision and other referees would not have given a red card

Somebody at the club must have won the lottery! Don't think anyone saw that coming. All young hungry players yesterday which excites. Be interesting to see hoe many of the new signings start up at Dingwall. As someone stated it is clear that Barra ran out of patience with some in the squad. Time will tell, but certainly more upbeat and confident we can improve on where we have been and hopefully the new players will galvanise the team and carry no baggage of constant defeats. The big Q is how they will gel and how those other players react to be bumped. Always had a close knit squad. might be more difficult to achieve that with 200 players

East Of Scotland Supporters Branch 20Th Anniversary Lunch
Welldaft Mk1 replied to Welldaft Mk1's topic in Club Chat
To be fair most that will attend are season ticket holders including myself. If I recall the club had an offer and maybe still do that season tickets holders can have a meal for £25, so same thing essentially. Also we are heavy drinkers -
Season 94-95 was an interesting time in the history of Motherwell Football Club.A team consisting of former favourites Craigan, Van Der Gaag, Martin, Lambert, Arnott and Coyne helped the Steelmen to the dizzying heights of a 2nd place finish – sound familiar! As has become the norm of late it also saw the team playing in Europe against th emight of Borussia Dortmund. September also saw the club record transfer of £1.75m of (Uncle) Phil O'Donnell to Celtic. October of 1994 saw the formation of the East of Scotland Motherwell Supporters Association. More than 50 like-minded Well fans from Edinburgh and the East gathered at Marcos in Grove Street and so began more 20 years of friendship and the shared joy and pain of following the ups and downs that come with being a Well fan. To help celebrate our 20th anniversary we are inviting past and present members to come to Fir Park on Saturday March 21st (v Hamilton) to enjoy a 3 course meal in the Centenary stand with Main stand matchday ticket –all for the princely sum of £25.00. To confirm and book a ticket for this exciting event please contact the Commercial Manager Diane Harvey on 01698 338012 or diane.harvey@motherwellfc.co.uk Deadline for responses is February 28 Hopefully the poster that has kindly been produced by Alastair Reilly is below or the link at least...

This. Collum had his red card out almost before the foul he was that quick. It was never that obvious an intentional foul. He needs to stay away from Fir Park for a wee while.
-
There is that, but i suspect if you removed everybody for swearing from time to time in the Cooper - you would probably only have kids left. I am not the worst by any distance but Collum brought out the worst in me and my friends. If I find myself swearing again like yesterday I will consider moving.
-
Just seen the highlights. As I suspected and most on here apart from the Willie Wonka sympathizers there was a coming together but hardly a blatant attempt to foul the St Johnston player. A soft red card. As if it were likely to be anything else.
-
It is the refs Job to be competent. Collum has proved himself to be anything but. If the sending off was merited then fine, but I suspect it will prove to be open to interpretation . Collums was he couldnae get the red card out quick enough. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. mine is that Collum is a fkin imposter and anyone that sticks up for him is either related or needs fkin glasses
-
Fair play to him. It makes for good reading. All those mentioned deserve credit for the time and enregy they have put into the club. If i had to be critical i still believe the Commercial side could have been better run and managed. Maybe it is down to a lack of resource and investment, but even the basics have been missed out. I love the club that is Motherwell and that has bought them a lot of goodwill that other organisations and companies would not have got from me with a similar level of service and attention. Hopefully Les will improve this area dramatically because it needs it. PS - Did not know he was a Billionaire Surely he can afford more than a measly million...
-
Interested to see the highlights. Again from the Cooper i could not tell who the foul was for and never ever felt it was a red. Others on here feel it was clearly a straight red, so i watch the highlights with interest. The wee fud got me in trouble for my colourful language in the Cooper by a fellow fan. to be fair it can be bad at the best of times, but i might be better off not going next time Collum is in charge.
-
Interesting statement wishing him well at his NEW club. I thought he had to go back Legia as he has played for 2 clubs already? Hope to god it does not turn out be Aberdeen or United
-
Nice comments from OJ. Will watch with interest how his career goes. Did not quite work out this time around, but a lot of that is down the performance of those around him. Still remember his initial impact - it was a real highlight of the last few years. That plus he earned us a few bob. Good luck Henrik.
-
At least Ainsworth is not playing. With exception of Thomas, probably all we have available to play at the moment..
-
God I wish that was the case. As of now I am quite sure we will be rank tomorrow and concede at least 2 if not 3 amateur comic capers goals. We may yet turn it round and finish 3rd bottom, but injuries and form suggest not.
-
I try to be sensible, but miles oot like most of us. Mind you I did not say whether it was 4th or 5th top or bottom, but even 4th bottom seems miles away right now.
