I think most Well fans on here must be either Aliens or Robots. Only because I read an article in the paper today that states that HUMANS generally are hard wired to take an optimistic view or look positively when things are going badly. Obviously whoever wrote that article has never been on Steel men Online!! Things are sh1te right now, but this was always going to happen at some point. I don't like to see the team lose EVER, but even Man United are struggling these days. The happy clappers are often criticized and rightly so, but the knicker wetting is reaching a crescendo. I will wait until Ojamma is fully fit, our defence is as strong as can be and we have our best team on the pitch. Not likely to be after the International break sadly. Think mid table is what we are destined for this season, but would take that with a decent cup run.
-
Worrying times for sure. But with all the injured players, players playing with injuries and loanees not yet up to speed + add in a plastic pitch, where our record ia appalling then this result was always on the cards. At this rate it will be after the international break before we get our strongest team on the pitch, just to coincide with an away game at Smeltic Park. Long season ahead but I am still confident we will be mid table at worst. Will settle for that IF and right now it is a BIG if we manage to get a decent run or 2 in the cup competitions.

This is the problem. I have seen a few cite apathy on here. This after finsihing 2nd in the league and on a record points total. That is what is pathetic. We been through it before and will discuss ad infinitum again. Time to get your support behind the team is when they are struggling. We have a core support of 4000 and pretty much always have had, but we are not even getting that at games so far this season.

Thought I would post in this thread rather than post match as it is a wider discussion on our form and prospects for this season. Yesterday was a shambles quite simply and whilst I will not panic like a fair few, even I a happy clapper think top 6 is probably the best we can hope for this season. A good cup run would not go amiss but even that looks a forlorn hope. That said looking at our squad - when injury free and loanees are up to speed I still think it will be the strongest outside of Celtic, Aberdeen and United. I don't care who plays in our 1st team as long as they are the best for that position. Kerr has done well in central defence, but if O'Brien IS a better bet then give him the gig. Ojamma will need at least 2 -3 games to get up to full fitness and speed. I also think that mcCall subbing Sutton and lasley is a sign of the times. I am a fan of Sutton as he is a proven goalscorer, but more of a poacher and he is not getting the service. That said on the evidence of the 1st few games I would have Erwin start with Ojamma up front. Once we get a left back fit along with those other players inc Vigurs, Ojamma etc, then we are better placed to judge what out season will be like. Yesterday was painful, but I am confident it will get better. Remember we started last season in almost exactly the same form. Sure we will not finish 2nd on 70 points, but I still think we will be top 6 which given our frankly pathetic crowds is almost an acheivement in itself!!

To be fair ICT have a settled team full of experienced players, with the exception of Christie. We in the other hand literally had a kid playing left back who was in at the deep end and did not cope too well. Sutton and Lasley look shadows of players of last year. Ainsworth is either very good or shite and it looks as if it will be more the latter unless he gets his shit together. I am not panicking just yet, not until we get our loanees up to speed and get Hammell back. We will get better, simply because we could hardly get worse, but top 6 and a cup run is best i think we can hope for. Top 4 is a million miles away...
-
All of the above With a full 1st team and 2 loanees up to speed we should be a match for anyone. But OJ may get a part of the game and with O'Brien not likely to feature and no 1st or 2nd choice left back - I will take any win today. I reckon ICT will be a handful and would not discount a draw at FT
-
I guess it means he is one more place down the pecking order. Dom will get his chance. We are a thin squad and 2 additions in Ojamma and possibly O'Brien are to be welcomed. My Derby supporting colleague rates him highly - O'Brien that is. Harsh on Kerr possibly - but his injury record is as good or bad as ramsden, so he may still get the chance Bottom line is we want the strongest team we can afford on the pitch
-
Yeehar. Of course it won't be long before he is derided as no being the player he once was ..... Gives our opponents something to think about. Back in time for Saturday ??
-
As the original poster - it was a joke. Maybe it shows how far our expectations have fallen that some took it as gospel!!
-
I am not convinced that Kevin Kyle will want to play for us. I hope McCall has a fall back position.
-
McCall also stated that one of the prospects he was looking at decided to stay down south. I reckon that could be one of the Man City boys. Would rather it was kept secret up until it happened if it does.. Would like Erwin to be given his chance unless whoever comes up is a sensational goal scoring machine
-
Toss up between the goalie and Erwin. The 70 yard kick out to Ainsworth in the 2nd half was mental. The best pass all day. Cross balls appear to be a weakness, but every other aspect of his games looks good, especially his ability and speed off the line. His quick distribution will also see us up the park very quickly every now and then Early days and he will have his blips and many on here will revel in saying I told you he was a midget.. But so far so good.
-
We were by in large poor today We got out of jail because St Mirren could not score in a barrel of fannies But most on here are not in dire need of prozac Most on here know we will play better Most on here know we had injuries and suspensions Most on here know we are still trying to get 2 1st team players in on loan And most on here can enjoy a win + a clean sheet in our 1st game of the season however we managed it If you want to keep moaning like a spoilt wee brat and a broken record - fill your boots - just don't expect no-one to comment Capiche
-
Cannot even forgive you for being a miserable moaning ********
-
ME - I am right up for this Bring on the Buddies Good to get the season under way.. Nervous about tomorrow and god knows what to expect, but it is the Motherwell way..
-
Probably be Hammell and Ramsden out for sure. Means Kerr or Cummins in Central Defence or both if McManus is out. Not ideal start in terms of injuries, but it may mean Erwin and Thomas get on which would be good to see how they cope. Of course he could sign Barr - would he be eligible to play tomorrow ?
-
See if they draw Inter - the pain will get worse
-
I can and will. I was not in Iceland, but certainly at Fir Park we were the better team for most of that match. Yes we blew it and giving away 3 penalties was as criminal as it was unbelievable. The key difference was match sharpness and we all knew it would be a factor. Bring Stjarnan back to Fir Park in November and it would likely be a different outcome. It still does not diminish the pain, but the fact they are now through to the play off round shows they are a decent team. Our loss came down to match fitness, silly bloody mistakes and lack of concentration which I think we will see more of again this coming season.
-
Stjarnan appear to carry the luck in Europe that we sadly dont!! If a team had 45 shots against us, they would have scored at least 10 goals.....
-
It is easy to see fans frustrations spilling over to the messageboard The sooner the season starts the better - then the real moaning and bitching can commence in earnest. The sooner we get a couple of players in the better. If it is going to be Barr - then lets get behind the lad and hope he is a good addition to the squad. Someone that can at least not set the fans into a blind panic every time the opposition get a corner! A pacy striker/creative player in the mould of OJamma would be just fine. A pipe dream that he would come back, but is what we need or maybe someone else with a better goalscoring threat, Anyone please
-
Good to things come to those that wait....and just as bloody well, becuase their appears to be a media blackout. Where is a good Media manager when you need one
-
I had a tear in my eye reading that However Dave is spot on. No room for sentiment as we cannot afford it. If Faddy agreed to a pay as you play basis I would have him back, but not on a fully paid up contract. Law will not be as good as Faddy in his prime, but in his 1st and only competitive home game he has scored 2 goals. Not a bad sign..
-
We will get a central defender and judging by the posts above - we may have one, albeit one who seems a risk. McCall will also get in a forward in the mould of Anier/Ojamma. Smaller and more mobile. That will be that. We cannot afford 4 players as much as we would like to see 4. McCall said his player budget would be the same as last year. But things change - especially missing out on another home European game. We have posted back to back losses despite unprecedented success in the league. We have to cut our cloth however painful it is likely to be. St Johnstone won a cup - got to another semi and have had at least 2 rounds in Europe. They have not signed anyone and their chairman has said they are not planning too. That is state of Scottish football. Apart from Celtic, Aberdeen and now United - there is little or no money in the game..

The boy obviously has talent looking at Wiki, but he turned his ankle in pre-season in Austria and is out for 2-3 weeks. it is one litany of injury after injury. If we are lucky we may get him for a few games. I remember Porter came to us with similar history but was largely injury free. Maybe that is wishful thinking
-
Hope the gaffer is voting NO. Obviously rates him more than Darren Barr....
