I said this before and I will say it again. Winning v Aberdeen meant everyone was waxing lyrical about an extra 2 weeks holiday. McCall even acknowledged that he read these comments (not necessarily from me) but stated they would not be able to find opponents. Mmmm - Aberdeen seemed to manage somehow. Last night was a combination of poor decision making from our captain for 2 penalties and a lack of fitness. Now that would be expected v a team that have played x13 the number of competitive games, but we should have been better prepared and coming back a week earlier might wheel have made the small difference.

See if we draw Hull City, PSV or Torino and go out.... Sum body shoot me....
-
Absolutely this. How many free crosses do we want to give a team. At 2-0 up I jokingly turned to my friend and said - bet this ends 2-2. I was of course joking as we we so far ahead. I have supported Motherwell long enough to know not to make such a joke Lasley had a mare and as usual Ainsworth and Vigurs can go from being unplayable to being unplayable. I thought it would be tough but i did not think in this way. As for their fat no 10. He was a very good footballer.... We could do it next week, but i am not convinced we will.

So get your @rse along to Fir Park if you can

I am maybe just overly pessimistic and not by nature I may add But and here is the question - they beat Bangor 8-0 We lost the 1st leg to Llanelli at "Home" and only beat them 3-1 on aggregate. Different team I admit - but there is a precedence. Then again we battered Flamurtari 8-1 Who knows
-
I don't think many are underestimating them. Any team that are unbeaten in 13 competitive matches including a 8-0 aggregate win over Bangor are NOT to be underestimated at all. This tie is very much in the balance. They may not be a better team but they are fitter and we are light up front, so that evens it out even more. I would be (pleasantly) surprised if this was a routine win/game/s

Interesting - that said we are well served fro midfielders...so a strange one from that point of view.. Maybe we could deploy Thomas as a striker

I do not disagree that £25 is more expensive than many fans would like or feel is value for money. I suspect the reason is simple... The club is living hand to mouth - week to week. Which is why we are selling players for a hundred 000 here and their. Call it bad budgeting or whatever - I suspect they know that given the mumpers on here if we were languishing bottom half of table and out of europe our attendances would be even worse - if that is possible! So they are doing everything they can to raise money to give us a decent product on the pitch. Given our success in recent years it has largely worked. So that is why they are charging £25 and not £15 - they need the money. St J are charging £26/27 from what I read.. ME - I will accept that and go along and pay a lttle xtra - I know many cannot or will not - that is their bag...
-
True - but then it begs the question why anyone should 'kin bother including the players - the Manager etc If the fans cannae be arsed to get up for or along to a European game. Since when did it matter who or at what stage we were playing in Europe. What some fans need is another 10 years without European football. That will be just around the corner, so enjoy whilst it lasts That is if some fans can be bothered
-
and it is Mother well fans moaning about price. Which is not entirely unjustifiable. It has been a while since Fir Park was packed. Atmospheres for Odense and Pana were wicked. I would expect the same again if we get through and draw PSV or Lyon
-
I am not so sure we would have got an extra 2300 in on Thursday if the prices had been reduced as proposed. There will be a few who stay away because it £25. I still believe that more Well fans appreciate it is a European game. The club need every penny. I am heading to the Centenary (£35) and cannae wait to see competitive football . My only concern is how we fare against a fitter team unbeaten this season. I think it will be tough..
-
Plus it is holiday time - so that knocks a few off the gate. i reckon the crowd will be around 4000-4500. Q is how many extra would have gone if it was £15? Say an average £20 on Thursday x 4000 =£80,000 If the top price was £15 then an average of £12 The crown is increased to say 5500 x£12 = £66,000 So the club are £14k better off when every penny is a prisoner and that assumes as many as 1500 fans stay away.

On the face of it £25 seems steep, but as has been pointed out - only a few quid more than a home SPL game v Ross County. It is a home European game. I think the only home European game i have missed was Torshavn. Aint about to miss another. We will hopefully get another but this WILL come to an end at some point in the near future.

I think we are going to see those 3 feature in the 1st team on a regular basis this season, especailly if anyone is injured. I think McCall will start with the team that started v Fulham. if anything I would be tempted to have Dom Thomas on instead ofMcHugh based on his cameo at the weekend. He just seems to have more about him. I would love it for Bob to prove me and others wrong but he needs to start the season well.

3-2 to us at Fir Park and 1-1 in Iceland. There is no way we will not concede at home - probably from a set piece or 2! I think we will get through, but like Breidlablik before it will be two close and tough games.
-
I recall that when we finished 2nd everyone including the Manager was waxing lyrical about the players and staff getting an extra 2 weeks holiday. I am probably not alone in thinking that they should have taken an extra week and come back a week earlier to give us more preparation for the Europa league. If we were to come unstuck because of lack of match preparation and fitness I will not be alone in scratching my head.

Why are a couple of posters on here upset at the Clarkson situation. I liked Clarky when he was here BUT if the manager feels there are better options then I am more than happy with that. I would rather go with his view of things than a couple of posters on here who have obviously studied Clarky at close quarters over the past week and a half.
-
I would love to see McCall get a striker in that he thinks will make a difference to Motherwell this season. if that is not DC then so be it. In fact i would be impressed that the Gaffer is single minded enough to look elsewhere and not take the easy option just because he is an ex player and went to the Algarve training camp with the squad. In the gaffer i trust

We should worry about beating Stjarnan before concerning ourselves with the 3rd qualifying round.
-
Alright Julian A fairly impressive scoreline. Were Stjarnan a decent outfit or were Bangor Brazil in disguise???
-
you on drugs smiddy? type in Iceland league into ggogle and you can see they are second having played 10 games. Won 6 drew 4. Does not look like they played a league game since playing Bangor. Interestingly they play top of the table team on Sunday. 1st v2nd.
-
3rd qualifying round is drawn the day after the 1st leg - Friday 18th July. Let's concentrate on getting through first! I am not convinced it will be easy - probably because I have seen us lose to Mypa and Llanelli at home in Europe
-
Again - Bangorbloke i assumed from your post that yiu went to the 1st leg in Iceland. So were the 1000 seats full. i ask because there a quite a few Well fans booking to make this trip and no guarantee of tickets. Ta.
