Thanks Bangor Bloke. At least you can console yourself that you lost 4-0 and did not concede 5 in 30 minutes like Brazil Q - Was the ground full up with 1000 or so fans?
-
I would bloody well hope so! I reckon they may stay on (representatives of Stjarnan) to take in our friendly v Fulham this Saturday. Remember Julian - we want a match report on how good or otherwise Stjarnan are no later than 1st thing Friday morning on this thread - Capiche ?
-
No chance we will not be playing Stjarnan. They will probably win in Wales as well. As someone stated - stick £20 on Bangor to cover all the bases. The odds against Bangor progressing over the 2 legs must be in double figures..
-
If he applies himself there is no reason why it might not turn out to be a good signing. Unless he is incredibly thick () he must know this is one if not his last chance to deliver at a decent level.

I hear Pearson was also looking or training facilities! Would not be surprised if we offerde Clarky a deal. We are a sentimental club, but he probably comes within our price range.

I take it everyone booking travel is guaranteed tickets ??

Like this quote form the sportsbreakfast website: Thursday afternoon and evening marked the return of European football for over 70 sides around Europe, with the Europa League staging the first legs of their first qualifying round for the high finishers and cup winners in Europe’s smaller leagues. From Malta to Macedonia, sides representing 33 nations took to the field yesterday to try to advance their (in some cases slim) hopes of reaching the Europa League group stage, alongside prestigious clubs like Sevilla, Everton, Fiorentina, and Dynamo Kyiv, not to mention the other quality teams that are entering the competition in the remaining four qualifying rounds like Hull City (3rd qualifying round), Motherwell (2nd qualifying round), Dynamo Moscow (3rd qualifying round), Club Brugge (3rd qualifying round), and Tottenham Hotspur (4th/Play-Off qualifying round). These first qualifying round first legs were played over the course of the past few days, with three matches occurring prior to the smorgasbord of action seen on Thursday.

Let us know what you think of Stjarnan assuming they get through the tie - which looks more than likely.
-
It was always unlikely.

Not sure it is jealousy..... Decorater is a Well fan like the rest of us and has managed through good fortune and effort to get to all Euro games. Some cannot afford the time nor the money to achieve that. Good luck to him. I know of someone who reminds me I have not been to all or most away Euro games In fact he reminds most of us EOSMFC fans. Friendly banter is all it is....give as good as you get.. The fact this gent misses a game here and there is often overlooked Let us hope there are many more trips to come...

I have mixed feelings about Clarkson. Would rather have kept Anier or the return of Murphy or Higdon. Not that any of those were likely to happen. He was hardly prolific in his spell with us which seems a long time ago. No hard feelings but would rather move on. I suspect McCall is simply having a look to see if he would be a worthwhile addition..
-
I wish you well with that. Would rather the shorter trip and hope we get through to the next round. As for travelling fans. I reckon more like 1000-1500 given the fixture is in the holiday month of July. I know a couple that cannot make it due to holiday commitments and (as it happens) the Commonwealth Games...

I may well be wrong but I still believe it will be Stjarnan we will be playing. If not the club should do a deal with Tunnocks. 50 golden tickets for Bangor game wrapped up in a caramel log just like Willy Wonka
-
Almost not worth going if all we got was 50 tickets.. One of the key enjoyable factors for me in Nancy, Llanelli, Athens and Odense etc was the number of Well fans that were there enjoying the beer and creating the atmosphere...

What do you think your chances are of winning the tie? You are the seeded side after all. The Icelandic side have played 9 games and have won 5 and drawn the other 4. But then that is in the Icelandic league.

I was down at Llanelli and I seem to recall the support being between 1500 and 2000. Either way 100 or 200 tickets would not cut it... Would be a shame...
-
I was hoping for Bangor also so that I and many others could make the trip. But that would mean we would only be entitled to what 100 tickets which is probably less than a 10th of what we would or could take... Any other alternatives ? Do you think you will win through as the seeded side?

If there is one club that can re-launch a career it is Motherwell FC. That is a very simple but effective sales pitch. Ross McCormack came to Motherwell and is now talked about as a £5m player + John Ruddy became an international goalkeeper Darren Randolph became an international goalkeeper Lukas Jukebox is being talked about as a £1m+ player Humphrey, Coke, Law, Higdon, Ojamma - all players that have moved on to better wages at least... A year or 2 with Motherwell and your career could be well and truly back on track. The flip side is a well documented Paul Slane - last seen living off his parents and having a trial game to see if a team will come in for him.....
-
That would be good if the home leg is 1st as been reported. Can then wait to see if we get another sh1t draw and make hasty arrangements to get up to Iceland - most probably likely to be Iceland looking at the 2 teams. If we get a PSV or Real Sociedad I would hope we could get through and would save money and time to go the that away game. Will defo go to Wales (tickets permitting) if Bangor City win the tie.
-
Another piece of trivia - whichever team we get - it will be the 1st time we have played a team from the same country twice. We are now officially a European superpower
-
I think that is why they have things called hotels What other draw were you hoping to do a trip in a day
-
Mon the Bangor City

Goodwillie - no re-sale value??? How old is he. I still got the impression he was no older than 25/26. Hardly over the hill for a footballer. If he started banging them in again we could easily get some money back... He has/had undoubted talent. Sure he may have lost it forever, but I tend to believe he would do well coming to Motherwell to help relaunch his career.

If that is true, then with the extra £240k for finishing second that is almost £500k more income coming in than was anticipated a month or so ago. It will go to pay back debts and Directors but should give us a small cushion also and help towards any potential loss.. We operate in the free market, but as McCall has proved their are quite a few decent options that can more than do a job for us. Goodwillie is a questionable character, but we have a history of getting the best out of players and he would be a good foil for Sutton. If Killie are interested then I would hope we would be in with a shout. A risk I know, but then so would any or all replacements for Anier.
