  1. http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/celtic/275800-european-campaign-details-for-celtic-st-johnstone-motherwell-and-aberdeen/? I did not know the rounds were now regionalised? Or is it just the early ones.
  2. I think that will happen Dave. I would hope that Hammell and Lasley are fairly straightforward. My Q marks are over Faddy, Hutch + Reid. Would want all 3 to stay, but it depends on what the club offer or in the case of Hutchy what he is offered by other clubs. The other big Q is over McHugh, Cummins and 1 or both Goalies. I think the first 2 are best to move on and we probably want to move a goalie on. I maybe wrong but I suspect if the boss could choose he would opt for Gunnar to go over Hollis, but as he still has another year on his contract it may come down to whether we can move him on. The other HUGE Q mark is whether someone comes in for McCall?? He has worked miracles, but almost seems unfashionable. McNamara touted for Blackpool, yet he has not achived anything like the success or consistency of McCall in the top league. I hope it stays this way however..
  3. This is why Sky and BT are taking the proverbial I am not saying our game is this and that etc. But I would argue all day long that for us to get the equivalent of 1.5 Stoke games for the whole season in plainly wrong.
  4. Just back in. Almost dried out too. Awful weather - Aberdeen in May.. That was as good an away game I have been to. Just for the end result, the celebrations and being able to lord it over the once famous Aberdeen. Incredible result - WELL done to the players - to the Manager and the fans who created a great atmosphere in the away end. SO pleased we have Karma after the Russell Anderson assault on Leitch.
  5. Looks like the game will sell out for the home ends. 17,300 tickets sold already with only 1000 odd left and no cash turnstyles for the home fans. Add 1000+ Well fans and looking like 19,000+ Will be a good atmosphere
  6. Was hoping for more. The mock up away top on here was a belter whereas the real one - the collar makes me dizzy. A fashion faux pa. I will opt for the home one which is a good effort and better than last year
  7. Nor even award a free kick Edit to add - they should send that photo to Collum who I actually thought was having a good game up unitl last 10 minutes where he failed to award a blatant free kick for Anier and that one one wee Moorey
  8. Not what McCall has been saying. We will offer contracts to all these players. Likely to be on less than before, so it is their decision whether they choose to accept or not. We cannot keep racking up several £100,000's worth of losses each year. It is still worrying when we are about to finish 3rd or 2nd and yet again get somewhere in the region of £500k+ more than all the bottom 6 sides.. I expect Hutch will go and unless Aberdeen or Hibs (if they are even in this league) offer more to any of our players then they will stay. What are their options exactly? Faddy & McManus will not want to move back down south for example.
  9. Never thought I would say this in a million years - but out of all of them that are out of contract, my biggest question mark would be over Faddy! It seems as if he needs 6-8 games to get up to full speed and was starting to perform well start of the year before getting another injury. It shows form the last 2 games that he is like an car engine on a cold day..stutters for a while and then is fine and actually performs well when fully up to speed. Problem is if he keeps picking up injuries, I doubt we will get to see the best of him on a consistent basis. We are well covered for midfield but we can all see from the last 2 games and most of this season - the players we have do not offer enough defensive cover and I believe we need to see movement in that regard. Would replace Hollis even if he has done little wrong. Probably more to do with the fact that we have Gunnar for another year, we need an out and out no 1. Can see Twardzik coming back.
  10. Why don't you get over to Celtic Park if you what to see exciting winning teams. Your constant moaning would not be missed on here...
  11. Quite right Makaveli I can only assume you are known to a few on here.... Nothing wrong with your posts for the most part. Don't let the @#@###*@ grind you down
  12. Time to bump this thread up a little. Let us hope we avoid Kazakhstan, Armenia, Moldova and the like. one thing is for sure - we will see more photos from a certain someone
  13. Ah to do that - you would have to imagine Brines being a competent referee. Never going to happen...
  14. One thing to point out is (probably tempting fate). We have only lost 1 home game since Celtic at the beginning of December. So 1 home loss in 5 months and that was a last minute sclaff v Killie where we should have got at least a point. Not saying we will win comfortably, but a draw is the worst I can see. In saying that ICT away record is none too shabby.... As long as the players give their all - which I am sure they will.
  15. It is an enigma for sure. I know the club need the money for finishing 2nd + it means we can brag we are the best of the rest + it means the players get a slightly longer break during the summer... but I would like us to go into Europe early July - the chance of at least 2 possibly 3 or 4 Euro ties. Plus the extra Euro game would help to offset the loss of the finishing 3rd. I think we will beat ICT and the Dons will draw with United or lose. Which means we would only need a draw at Pittodrie - hard enough - but good news that Rooney is out for the rest of the season.
  16. This thread shows the strange nature of football. We have more points this season than last with 2 games to go. This seasons team had less time to gel than last seasons. It is not that i disagree but maybe we need to rethink things a little. This Team will deserve more plaudits than last season if they manage to finish 2nd. I would have Randolph on goals. I would also have Law and Ojamma but Ainsworth has delivered more than OJamma and Humphrey, despite his weaknesses.
  17. I think he has shown enough to get a deal for a couple of years. He is versatile and can play in a number of positions. He is quite quick and is a decent footballer for the most part. certainly in terms of what we can afford.
  18. Between Vigurs and Ainsworth for me. How the sponsors gave it to Hutch Sorry the big man was back to his bombscare best.
  19. Totally agree with YB - I would like Ainsworth to stay as he has shown how capable he is. His pass to Sutton for the Celtic equaliser was perfectly weighted. He is one skilful dude. Last time we played St Johnstone at home he terrorised them and was unplayable - hopefully more of the same this weekend. That said I kinda agree with Steelboy. We have a small squad and team and he has to show more in defence. I guess if he was adept at both - again he would be elsewhere and not Motherwell Fc.
  20. God I loved that kit. My 1st Well top. Those were in the days you had to sew the badge on Chr1st I feel old...
  21. As long as it has claret and amber and is smart I care not. In fact I care more about the quality which was sadly lacking under Puma. Only the 125 year anniversary top was of decent quality, the rest was cheap sh1t SMOOTH SILKY feeling....
  22. I agree to an extent Steelboy. The reality is that McCall has made his emphasis on attack and not defence. It would appear that we can not afford a team that does both very well. If you look at the bench on Saturday - Erwin, Moore, Faddy etc mostly attacking players. It is hugely frustrating to see us concede so many goals. In fact it is almost embarrassing that a side sitting 3rd has conceded as many as the teams in the bottom half. However it does not change the fact that I would rather see my team win 3-2 that 1-0 and play like Chelsea yesterday to only stifle the game. Were we winning 1-0 and losing 1-0 you would have as many posters on here moaning about how boring we are to watch. I could bet my mortgage that they/we would not be praising our resilient defence. Facts are we are still sitting 3rd in the league and will hopefully go no lower than that by the end of the season.
  23. I voted for Gunnar because he made 2-3 decent saves that kept the scoreline to 5 when it could easily have been 8 or 9. Reid also did ok but as for the rest
  24. For me a successful season is finishing above where we ought to given our size as a club and resources. Based on this years top division the teams with a bigger budget would be Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee United and Hibs. Normally Hearts would be in that list. So a successful season would be finishing anywhere above 5th position. I would also add that getting to quarter final of cup competitions would be an expectation draw dependant. So in summary we ARE having a successful season, barring games against Dundee United and for the most part Celtic. The lack of cup success does put a dampener on things a little. After yesterday still a lot to play for. Would not expect to finish lower than 4th if Inverness lose today, but it would be diappointing not to finish 3rd and automatically qualify for Europe. I also think it is worth adding that this seasons achievements thus far have to be put in the context that we lost almost an entire team last summer. I never expected us to be challenging for Europe and i doubt many on here thought that either, despite the moaning minnies on this site.
  25. We wont necessarily play for a point but Steelboy is right a point suits us. Maybe not in the race for 2nd, although I fancy St Johnstone to take a point off the Dons. A point means we are 7 points ahead with 3 games left. 1 more win would do for us and they would really need to win all 3 v ICT, Aberdeen and Celtic away to stand a chance of catching us. A nice position to be in. I also agree with Steelboy. ZFA played well on Saturday and if required Ainsworth can come off the bench. I do suspect that Lasley will come in for Leitch and not Vigurs. A bit harsh but he is still the novice for the time being... I am going for 2-2. Anier and Vigurs for our goals....
